Best Strain for Stress

Posted by CANNASaver on Friday, 30 April 2021 in Canna Blog

Everyone experiences stress throughout their lifetime, it comes with the challenges we face daily. Whether it’s from a hectic commute, an upcoming project, or the simple annoyances from the people surrounding you, it’s nothing a little toking up can’t fix.

A little stress can be healthy, but when it becomes too consuming - that’s when it becomes a  problem. Many people have turned to cannabis to help them reduce feelings of stress. For some, smoking a joint after a long day can help them unwind and release built-up tension accumulated from earlier in the day.

When smoking to reduce stress, it’s important to know which strains are best for doing so. Choosing the right strain can elevate your experience, here are the best and widely available strains to reduce stress levels.

Best Strains for Stress

Blue Dream

Blue Dream is one of the most popular cannabis strains in America. It’s known for its balanced and full-body effect. The hybrid strain has a sweet aroma with a THC content high enough to provide relief to stress and body tension.

Blue Dream is also known to provide relief from symptoms correlated with pain, nausea, and depression and has a minimal sedative effect, making it a great daytime strain.

Sour Diesel

Sour Diesel is a Sativa dominant hybrid that is known to give feelings of happiness, energy, and euphoria. This strain is great for reducing stress while keeping you productive, thanks to its adequate Sativa levels. The pungent smell of this strain is what gives this beloved strain its name. Many people turn to this strain to help alleviate symptoms associated with depression and anxiety.

AK-47

AK-47 is a hybrid strain that is known for relaxing the mind and body. It’s said to produce a ‘mellow’ feeling despite its somewhat violent name. This strain is less potent than others, but it is enough to help the mind and body relax. AK-47 delivers a long-lasting high that’ll keep you alert and engaged while also producing feelings of relaxation and happiness.

You can expect to feel uplifted, at peace, and mellowed out with this strain. It is especially great for those who have trouble falling asleep. A couple of hits before bed can help induce the relaxation needed to help you fall asleep.

Jack Herrer

This Sativa dominant strain was originally a medical-grade strain. However, it rose to popularity with recreational users because it’s known to provide feelings of optimism and euphoria. It’s also known for provided adequate pain and stress relief.

This strain is loved by many because it can relax you while keeping you focused. Some say it even promotes creativity. Other common usages for this strain include reducing symptoms of depression such as loss of appetite and anxiety.

Grandaddy Purple

‘Grandaddy Purp’ is an Indica dominant strain. The strain is ideal for creating a calming effect on the body and mind. The buds of this very powerful Indica strain can sometimes look purple (hence its name) and is used to treat pain, muscle spasms, insomnia, and other symptoms related to stress.

Be careful when consuming this strain as it can produce a heavy body high and leave you couch-locked. We recommend using this strain at night or during days you have no plans or commitments to take care of.

Cannatonic

The high CBD content of this strain will relax you without too much of the psychoactive effects of THC. The strain produces a relatively short but powerfully relaxing high. Many medical marijuana patients choose this strain to alleviate pain, anxiety, migraines, and muscle pain.

Strains with higher CBD content are great for those who tend to get more anxious when dealing with higher THC levels.

Girl Scout Cookies

Girl Scout Cookies or ‘GSC’ is loved by stoners everywhere. Additionally, it’s one of the most potent and popular strains available. The THC content is typically above 20% THC, so a little bit will do its job. It’s an Indica dominant strain that can make users feel powerful, happy and euphoric, and can help with stress and pain relief, anxiety, and insomnia

This strain can come with heavy body effects and can stimulate the appetite. So get comfortable and maybe keep a healthy snack handy.

Best CBD Deals

Posted by CANNASaver on Friday, 23 April 2021 in Canna Blog

Although we're known for having the best deals on marijuana and THC-related products in Colorado, don't just have deals on weed. The marijuana coupon website also has amazing deals on CBD oils, tinctures, topicals, and more.

What is CBD?

If you’re new to the weed world – or just still don’t quite get what CBD is – you’re not alone. The use of CBD has exploded over the last few years, and it’s a product you can find in a lot of places.

The marijuana plant is filled with different cannabinoids – compounds found within cannabis that have varying effects. There are over 100 known cannabinoids, the most notable being tetrahydrocannabinol (THC). THC is the cannabinoid that gives marijuana its psychoactive and euphoric effects.

The other major cannabinoid in marijuana is cannabidiol (CBD). CBD produces no psychoactive effects – you don’t get high off CBD. Instead, CBD offers pain relief and a calming effect. This isn’t to say that CBD doesn’t alter your consciousness – users often will be more mellow and relaxed, just not “high.”

People take CBD products for a few different reasons – the main ones being pain and anxiety relief. Healthline reported that there are even more key benefits to taking CBD:

·         Pain relief

·         Anxiety relief

·         Acne reduction

·         Heart health benefits

·         Cancer symptom alleviation

·         Neuroprotective properties

Studies into the positive effects of CBD are still relatively new and ongoing but expect to find more and more benefits discovered in the coming years.

Types of CBD Products

CBD has been infused with a multitude of wellness products over the last few years. The most popular of these products include:

·         Oils & Tinctures – CBD extracted from marijuana is combined with different oils to be taken orally.

·         Edibles – like THC edibles, CBD is combined with food.

·         Topicals – these are CBD-infused skin products to be administered topically, or on the skin.

·         Capsules – CBD is extracted and then made into pill form.

·         Drinks – popular drinks are infused with extracted CBD.

You can also purchase CBD strains of flower to smoke. It won’t get you high – but it can satisfy those who like the act of smoking.

What CBD Product Should I Try?

Exactly what CBD product you should buy is dependent on your situation. If you're using it for pain relief, typically a topical cream rubbed directly on the injured area is a great route – but you can also take edibles or oils or smoke flower for the same effects.

Because of the different ways of ingestion, the CBD will take longer to get into the system. Generally, edibles and tinctures will take the longest amount of time to kick in – but they also last the longest. Topical creams work relatively fast, but you may find that the effects won’t last as long. Smoking or vaping CBD will kick in at the same pace THC does – but don’t expect a high.

We recommend experimenting with several different types of CBD products to find what works best for you. Luckily, Cannasaver has tons of deals on CBD, so trying these products won’t hurt your wallet. Check out some of the awesome deals below.

Sizes and Prices of Weed

Posted by CANNASaver on Tuesday, 20 April 2021 in Canna Blog

Been a while since you’ve bought any bud? Maybe you’re new to the marijuana world or maybe you’ve been smoking straight concentrates for a while.

Either way, it’s helpful to know exactly what you’re looking for when you head to the dispensary.

There’s a lot more math involved with buying marijuana than there is with other products. You know exactly how many beers are in a six-pack or eggs are in a carton. You should also know exactly how much weed you’re getting when you purchase.

Traditionally, weed is measured in terms of ounces.

The most common weights you can purchase weed at are:

·         Gram

·         ⅛ (eighth)

·         ¼ (quarter ounce)

·         ½ (half-ounce)

·         Full ounce

Obviously, how long each will last is completely dependent on how often you smoke. If you don’t smoke very much, it doesn’t make much sense to buy an ounce – regardless of it being a better deal per gram.

Buying in bulk is generally always going to get you the best deal – but it doesn’t matter if the weed goes to waste. Marijuana can even go bad if left unused and stored incorrectly for too long.

While it’s firstly most important to know your smoking habits before purchasing flower, it’s also important to have some general knowledge of the sizes and prices of weed.

Gram – 1g

A gram is generally the smallest amount of flower you can buy. Remember dime bags? Depending on where you’re from and how expensive weed was there, a gram of marijuana typically cost $10. That obviously varied with quality – but the general rule of thumb was that $10 bought you a gram.

The price has stayed relatively the same since, but it does vary from dispensary to dispensary and strain to strain. Typically you’ll be paying between $6-$20 for a gram – the better quality the flower the higher the price.

A gram will usually pack about a joint or two, depending on how fat you roll them. A dispensary typically offers gram or half-gram pre-rolls – so a gram gets you roughly that.

This is going to be where you’re paying the most for your weed. It is cheap, but from a price-per-gram perspective, it’s the most expensive. It’s not until you start buying in bulk that this becomes apparent.

⅛ Eighth – 3.5g

An eighth is going to be where you see that buying in bulk can save you money. Typically an eighth can cost anywhere from $25-$60, but that can vary based on quality of the bud. Some dispensaries will even sell four-gram eighths to promote purchasing bulkier amounts.

When comparing a gram vs. an eighth, it will almost always be cheaper to buy an eighth than three and a half individual grams

Typically an eighth will give you about four to seven joints worth of weed – again, dependent completely on how much you pack. Bowl packs depend specifically on size of the bowl and how full you pack those as well.

An eighth is good for those who smoke a little bit more than occasionally, but still not too often. How long it lasts depends entirely on you – but it’s safe to say that if you smoke more often, then bigger quantities are for you.

¼ Quarter – 7g

A quarter-ounce is for people who smoke more often. At seven grams, it’s double the size of an eighth, but not double the price. It’s cheaper to buy one quarter than two separate eighths.

Typically you’ll get about twelve to sixteen joints out of a quarter – dependent on you again. A quarter is usually going to run you somewhere between $40-$80 but can be cheaper or more expensive depending on the quality of the bud.

A quarter is good for frequent smokers, as it lasts twice as long as an eighth and has a good price point. It’s a good point between a small purchase and a larger, bulkier purchase.

½ Half-Ounce – 14g

Also known as half a zip, a half-ounce is a more serious purchase than the others. This is for a pretty serious smoker. Weighing in at fourteen grams, a half-ounce is for those who don’t want to be running out any time soon.

You’ll get – obviously – double the amount of weed you get from a quarter. So, think somewhere around two dozen joints in a half-ounce. It’ll cost you a bit more money, but this is really where buying in bulk saves in the long run.

Generally, a half-ounce will cost somewhere between $100-$120, much cheaper than buying two quarters or four eighths. Obviously, prices can get much higher or lower depending on quality.

Full Ounce – 28g

In most legal states, this is the largest amount of weed you can buy at any one time. An ounce is for the serious smoker, who doesn’t miss a day and doesn’t like being low.

For a general idea on size, it’s the legal limit a person can own in Colorado. This is because of the amount – an ounce is large enough that any bigger and people will think you have intent to distribute.

An ounce is a full 28 grams – should give you somewhere near 100 joints. Depends entirely on the quality of the weed, but the price range is generally somewhere between $150-$220. Look for prices even higher than that when dealing with high-quality stuff.

Quarter-Pound – 112g

The quarter-pound is a pretty rare size of marijuana. Four times the amount of an ounce, it’s still illegal to have this much weed on your person in Colorado.

It’s hard to find anywhere to pick up a quarter-pound – but if you do, it’s going to be expensive. A quarter-pound is going to cost you somewhere around $800, but can easily be more or less depending on where you’re getting it from.

This amount of for a very serious smoker – and even then, it will take a while to go through.

Now that we’ve taken care of sizes and you know what you’re looking for, head into the dispensary and buy the perfect size for you. Check out our homepage first to make sure you’re not missing out on any killer deals.

What 420 Friendly Means

Posted by CANNASaver on Thursday, 15 April 2021 in Canna Blog

You may not realize it, but next week there is a stoner holiday.

On April 20th every year, marijuana lovers around the world gather to celebrate the beautiful, majestic cannabis plant in their favorite ways.

You may have heard the term used in many different ways, but whether it connotes a time of day, a day of the year, or an entire lifestyle for you, 420 is what binds the cannabis community together.

The story of the roots of 420 friendliness in the United States, much like many things involving cannabis, is pretty hazy (get it?). However, there are some commonly believed theories that can help us understand what the term 420 means in a historical context.

If you are not familiar with the term “420” as it is used in the marijuana culture, here’s a look at its origins and its meaning. Before examining the type of 420 friendly services available across America, let’s briefly discuss where the term 420 came from, the history behind it and why it is embedded in America Culture.

What 420 Means

If you’re passing the pipe of that sweet Mary Jane, 420 is all you’ve got to say to let people know that you partake as well. The term "420" was first associated with marijuana use in 1971 and has been very much used since.

With marijuana being illegal, consumers had to partake in secret, shop in dark alleys, and speak in code. Though it originally spread as an internal clock for a single group of smokers, the term now refers to the ongoing fight for nationwide legalization and the spread of accessible information within both the medical and recreational communities.

Today, the term 420 and references to marijuana are all over the social media, games, music, and websites that people are using every day.

Origin Story of 420

Cannabis is a plant of many names: weed, ganja, marijuana, kush, etc. In today’s legalization of marijuana in Colorado, we can call cannabis whatever we would like without the worry of police interference. But things were not always so rosy.

In the early 1970s, weed was still highly illegal. The term 420 originated with a group of high school kids at San Rafael High School in California. The group who called themselves “The Waldos” started using 4:20 as the time of day they would meet to go seek out a secret stash they would leave in various places. Rather than announce they were going to get high, they used the code 420.

The ritual spread, and soon 420 became code for smoking marijuana. Eventually, 420 was converted into 4/20 for calendar purposes, and the day of celebration was born.

What Being 420 Friendly Means

You will ultimately need to ask the person if they themselves smoke, though it is usually implied that they do if they have this in their profile.

Since its origins back in the 70s, 420 has stuck as a pretense for cannabis culture. 4:20 is the hour to partake, and April 20th has become the international stoner holiday to celebrate cannabis culture and progress. The term 420 and its usefulness as a discrete codeword lives on today, particularly on different sites. How will you know if your future girlfriend, roommate, or houseguest is down to smoke? Drop a 420 friendly in there.

The term 420 friendly essentially means that the person smokes marijuana or is open to smoking it. This term can also mean that the person doesn’t smoke themselves, but they are okay with those who do.

420 friendly is seen quite often with advertisements for housemates, tenants, or dating apps. It simply means that the person or place is accepting of people who smoke weed and probably do it themselves.

In the past, 420 friendly has meant that a business or hotel won’t call the police on you if you spark up. However, given the shaky legal status of pot in the past, the term was only as reliable as the person in charge of wherever you were staying.

That said, with the rapidly changing weed laws that are currently rocking the country the definition of what is 420 friendly is changing pretty rapidly. Now the possibility of finding places with actual legal policies in place to ensure that you are able to smoke undisturbed.

Why is Colorado Known for Being 420 Friendly?

People have always used pot to socialize throughout the centuries. With marijuana legalization popping up everywhere, stoners around the country now have lots of options when it comes to herbal socializing (though slowed due to COVID).

Being the first to blaze the trail, Colorado is well known for being 420 friendly. Colorado was afterall one of the first states to legalize. Safe to assume we have some cannabis consumers in this state. Also, Colorado is slowly unveiling pot coffee shops, smoking lounges, and hotels coming in the future.

Colorado is very 420 friendly.

Colorado Moon Rocks

Posted by CANNASaver on Wednesday, 14 April 2021 in Canna Blog

Looking to blast off into outer space and bounce on the moon with the ultimate weed high? Well, if you're not Elon Musk, you're probably wondering how you can space travel. The ticket to ride: Moon rocks.

Moon rocks are some of the most expensive marijuana products that you’ll find on your dispensary menu. It is like the caviar of weed. They are considered one of the most potent ways to smoke marijuana out there.

But what are they exactly?

What are Moon Rocks?

Moon rocks originate from rapper Kurupt bringing them to fruition in 2014. The name comes from the way this particular brand of cannabis actually looks; like moon rocks.

Moon rocks are not a type of marijuana strain, but more of a cannabis experiment gone oh, so well. Moon rocks in Colorado (as well as anywhere else, for that matter) are made up of different cannabis products rolled into one very potent product admired and very desired for smoking.

They are premium marijuana buds, around a quarter width in size, that get dipped in hash oil, rosin, or live resin.

Moon rocks are then finished by rolling concentrate dipped, premium bud in beautiful golden kief.

Simply put, moon rocks are one big nugget covered in concentrate upon concentrate. Because of this, moon rocks can contain more than 50% THC.

What Exactly is in Moon Rocks?

If you’re breaking apart a moon rock for the first time, it’s a lot like being a kid eating the perfect ice cream cone. Beginning with the most important, a premium base.

Premium Cannabis

The first and arguably most important ingredient used in moon rock production is premium, top-shelf cannabis. Moon Rocks are produced using any of the hundreds of premium strains out there.

A high concentration of trichomes often shows a particular marijuana strain with advanced cannabinoid production over other strains. High potency and terpene production tend to follow these strains. The color of these buds is incredibly vibrant and every cannabis strain is unique in its own terpene profile.

But what ice cream cone is any good without some syrupy drizzle??

Concentrate

Cannabis concentrates are oils that are derived from the cannabis plant. Cannabis concentrates often hit between 60-80% in THC potency. Concentrates maintain terpenes from the marijuana plant thus adding to the overall cannabinoids being absorbed, natural taste involved, and controlling your overall high.

Then, to top everything off, a nice cherry on top.

Kief

Kief is that precious goodness collecting in the bottom of your weed grinder. Dried buds are rubbed over a screen to separate the trichomes. Back and forth, this turns surrounding trichomes into a pile of THC crystals or kief.

Kief has much higher levels of THC than you find in regular buds. It can have around 50% THC making it about twice as strong as a regular flower.

This beautiful concoction of kief, concentrate, and premium cannabis leads to high THC potencies between 50-90%.

Fly Me to the Moon, Already!

OG marijuana buds can be hit from a bong, or added to a pipe, vaporized, or even smoked out of an apple. But when it comes to consuming these delicious moon rocks, things get trickier and quite a bit stickier.

Attempting to roll up a joint of moon rocks just doesn’t really work all too well.

Moon rocks are made up of an assembly of different marijuana ingredients, the rocks have to be consumed differently than your ordinary buds. The wet/stickiness of the moon rocks caused by added kief and oils make the buds hard to light and to, therefore, smoke those delightful rocks.

Short Guide To Smoking Moon Rocks

  • Hand-break moon rocks, don’t grind: It can be difficult to grind up moon rocks due to their juicy coating of concentrate. It will completely gunk up your grinder and likely remove most of the moon rock's kief. Instead, break them up slowly with your fingers or cut off small pieces with scissors.

  • Glass Pieces: Pipes and bongs are the best way to smoke moon rocks without creating a huge mess. Lightly pack bowls of moon rocks into your favorite glass piece to ensure you lose as little of the moon rock ingredients as possible.

  • Use a hemp wick: The consistency of moon rocks makes holding a flame to your bowl needed for longer than one would typically hold for a regular bowl of MJ. Hemp wick will save you from potentially tasting way too much butane from a lighter and burning your fingers.

  • And finally: you should avoid rolling moon rock joints or blunts. Moon rocks are far too sticky to be rollable or anywhere near smokeable. Also, don’t pack bowls of moon rocks too tight. Too tight and the bowl will be incredibly difficult to light.

What Are the Effects of Moon Rocks?

Moon rocks are POTENT cannabis products. These are for people who have indulged in high-quality THC products. Since moon rocks contain much higher levels of THC, effects are stronger than regular cannabis products.

Effects intensify depending on some factors including the strain used in the rocks and your personal tolerance. Someone who’s not used to high THC cannabis tends to have more intense effects. Some of the common effects of moon rocks are:

  • Increased heart rate
  • Anxiety
  • Sleepiness
  • Impaired memory
  • Cough
  • More, non-life-threatening effects, like red/dry eyes, dry mouth, etc.

Get Free Weed

Posted by CANNASaver on Tuesday, 13 April 2021 in Canna Blog

Everybody (well, a lot of people, at least) loves smoking weed. Not everyone loves the price point. Typical weed prices at a dispensary can get pretty high. Being a pothead can be expensive, so anytime you can save some money, it’s worth it.

Getting free weed can sometimes be as simple as having a friend who will smoke you up. But mooching off of your friend isn’t really what this article is about. Getting free weed isn’t always easy. But if you look in the right places, sometimes you’ll find ways to ‘cheat the system’ and grab some free ganja.

Here are some of the easiest ways, or "hacks" if you will, to get free weed and avoid the high weed prices in Colorado.

First Time Deals

So, yeah, if you’re reading an article about how to get free weed, then you’ve probably already been to the dispensary – but this doesn’t mean this trick still won’t work. Some local dispensaries will have deals for first-time customers. So consider trying out a dispensary you haven’t been to before to check for first-timer deals.

Membership & Reward Programs

Dispensaries will often offer first-time customers some good deals – but what about their loyal customers? Most dispensaries will have some sort of loyalty program for returning customers. It can be as simple as a card that gets hole-punched with every purchase or a much more elaborate system like an app or online tracking. Ask your budtender at your favorite dispensary about any reward or loyalty programs offered.

Daily Weed Deals

Dispensaries aren’t unlike any other businesses – deals and sales are good for business and customer loyalty. Some dispensaries will have daily weed deals (for instance, Rocky Mountain High in Denver has a good Sunday deal) that you should be taking advantage of.

Search around our website for the newest weed deals before you head in – maybe tomorrow there’s a better deal on exactly what you were looking for.

Weed Coupon Websites

Essentially Groupon for marijuana, sites like Cannasaver will help you find deals on weed. It might take some searching, but you can find some killer deals that can help maximize your trip to the dispensary. Cannasaver is localized in Colorado, so our website can help you avoid the high weed prices in Denver or anywhere else in Colorado.

Research Studies on Weed

These are a little more few and far between – but not impossible to find. Marijuana is a fascinating plant with a multitude of psychoactive and health effects. As it’s been illegal until fairly recently, it’s gone relatively unstudied by modern science. Sometimes universities or other research groups will have marijuana-related studies and will offer volunteers some free weed in exchange for participation – sometimes you even get paid. Do some research of your own online to see if there are any studies near you.

Weed Giveaways

Rare as well, weed giveaways are like stoner Christmas. Maybe it’s a new store opening, or a celebration, etc. – check on social media and Google for any giveaways that are happening near you.

They are more likely to be around on holidays – specifically 4/20

Grow Your Own Weed

This may sound like a difficult solution, but a well-kept marijuana plant will pay for itself. There are tons of resources online to help you through the growing process, as well as how to make it ready to smoke. You can buy seeds at dispensaries (the current deal in Capitol Hill) and then grow weed in the comfort of your own home. Can’t get more free than nature.

Celebrate 4/20

One of the best chances you’ll have at getting free bud is doing some weed shopping on a weed holiday. Try out a couple of different dispensaries – most likely they’ll all be doing some sort of promotion for 4/20. Look on Cannasaver to see if there are any upcoming 4/20 deals near you.

The Best Way to Save Money

Opportunities to get truly free weed are scarce – after all, it’s a popular product sold by a business trying to make money – free doesn’t jive with that.

The best way to lower your expenses when buying weed is to look for the best deals. A Buy One, Get One deal still requires you to pay money, but the ‘Get One’ part of it is essentially free weed. Always check sites like Cannasaver before you head into the dispensary – you don’t want to be spending more money than you need to.

It’s hard to consider deals as free. But depending on how you look at it, a 50% off deal is essentially like getting 50% of your weed for free.

Check out some of these deals to make the most of your money when weed shopping:

·         Pure Marijuana Dispensary has locations across Colorado. Every Wednesday the entire store is Buy One, Get One 50% off. Cash in using this coupon.

·         At Herban Underground you can grab one Cousin Eddie’s Baked Goods (either cookies or brownies) and get another one free.

·         Rocky Mountain High Dispensary in Stapleton has a Munchie Monday deal – Buy One, Get One 50% off their selection of high-end edibles.

·         For medical cardholders – you can get a flower ounce for $100 OTD when you pay full price for the first ounce at Altitude Organic Medicine in Colorado Springs.

·         At Trenchtown Cannabis in Denver all vape cartridges are Buy One, Get One 50% off with this coupon.

The Reality of Getting Free Weed

You’ll be hard-pressed to find a reliable, consistent way to get free weed – that’s if you find a way to get any at all. Marijuana is such a popular substance that finding it for free is likely never going to be easy. Using the tips and tricks mentioned above will help you – but there are no guarantees.

If you’re looking for free weed, then your end goal is likely to save money. Your best bet to lower your weed expenses is by finding the best deals. It’s not free – but it will save you a lot of money in the long run.

Think if you could be Buy One, Get One deals every time you visited the dispensary – that money you saved will start to add up.

Always make sure to find the best deal – use Cannasaver to keep your wallet full.

Shake Deals Denver

Posted by CANNASaver on Friday, 02 April 2021 in Canna Blog

My canna-friends, you know how I like to keep you in the know, right? So what do I want you to know about this time? A grand little present known as "shake." If you know, then you know. But for those who think I sound like a stoner stereotype, hear me out: while shake usually gets a bad rap, as the quality of weed is better these days, so is the shake...and there really are some good-quality shake deals in the Denver area that you should know about.

What is Shake?

It can vary in definition from person to person, but shake can be an extremely cost-efficient alternative to whole bud marijuana flower for those who like to consume marijuana in larger quantities or for those who go through their stashes fast.

By definition, marijuana shake describes the small pieces of flower left at the bottom of a storage device. These leftovers come from larger cannabis nugs. Shake typically forms when bumped or “shaken” around during transportation or harvesting. It does tend to dry out fast, so keep that in mind.

Dispensaries tend to sell these leftovers at a lower price than the flower it was shaken from because their effects and potency are often pretty unknown.

Shake is Definitely Not Trim

Trim is what gets removed from cannabis buds after harvest. Trim often contains much more sugar leaves and stems than shake.

Trim is typically used in making concentrates and not much else.

If smoked on its own, trim will most likely not get you high.

Shake’s Bad Reputation

Shake has been looked down upon in the past as being an inferior quality to actual, intact cannabis flower buds. This often comes with people who probably bought trim thinking it was shake, most likely weak or not having any effect.

Shake that comes from a strain with a larger concentration of trichomes can be just as good as the original bud.

That shake sitting in a dispensary jar, then rolling around in tasty trichomes adds a lot of flavor and potency.

Unfortunately, trichomes are fragile and are not always found in high concentrates. In this case, the quality of this kind of shake may be lower quality than those with larger amounts of trichomes present.

When looking for quality cannabis shake, look for cannabis shake that still has a decent amount of shiny trichomes present.

How You SHOULD Look at Shake

In the past, shake was just a random ratio of leaves, stems, and maybe some buds. I imagine most people think that this gross assortment of marijuana turns anyone off of buying shake. But rejoice, for it is 2021, and recreational/medical weed is the best it's probably ever been!

Sweet Mary Jane only continues to grow (pun absolutely intended) in potency and availability as the country continues to legalize. This being the case, marijuana shake can only get better as well.

Some dispensaries even use the term “shake” to actually describe popcorn (fully-formed, but small) buds.

Here are 3 popular ways shake is used:

  • Edibles and tinctures: Use shake with any edible or tincture recipe instead of wasting full buds. You gather cannabinoids from about any form of cannabis. So for edibles, prioritizing quality in the ingredients you’re combining with the shake is more important. This makes edibles or tinctures a great way to use up your lower-quality shake.

  • Pre-rolls/Joints: Using shake for joints is a common practice for dispensaries. Some cannabis consumers will tell you they prefer the mellow and toned-down high that shake provides. Shake joints/pre-rolls are a good solution for those who experience negative effects from high potency buds though this isn’t always the case.

  • Blunts: These XXL joints take a lot of Mary Jane to fill up. Shake is a wonderful solution for the "bluntists" out there. Mix these with premium flower, hash and/or kief for extra mindful delights.

Shoot, I bought shake just the other day during one of my own dispensaries runs. The shake was from a platinum shelf bud at half the cost. Though, do look at it first. Some batches of shake are far better than others.

Some Last Cautions When Buying Shake

  • Buying shake can be a literal mixed bag of different cannabis strains and following high from a particular batch of shake isn't always going to be consistent. Shake also dries out quickly, so you'll want to smoke it fast.

  • Some dispensaries carry cannabis shake in tightly packed jars for weeks. Make sure you check that the shake isn’t too moist. This can make marijuana a perfect breeding ground for mold. No one should smoke mold.

  • Medical marijuana patients should try to steer clear of shake. Medical patients often do require consistent doses and results of quality accurate potency flower. With shake, neither is guaranteed.

In the end, it's up to your personal cannabis budget and preferences.

Due to its ever-growing popularity, finding consistent deals on premium shake can often be tricky, even in Denver.

With so many different shake deals around Denver, Cannasaver will help you find the best deals. With great shake comes great responsibility and Cannasaver has found some of the best flowers around the Denver area.

Best Edibles In Denver

Posted by CANNASaver on Friday, 26 March 2021 in Canna Blog

There are a few good reasons you’re probably looking for the best edibles in Denver. For whichever reason that is, we don’t blame you. Edibles are tasty, they’re a healthier way of getting high, they don’t smell like weed (as potent as bud), and they’re efficient

So, whether you’re only visiting Colorado for a small period of time, or you’re a local and just new to the edibles world, here are some of the best edibles and THC-infused beverages that Denver has to offer. Just remember to use marijuana edibles and beverages in moderation and follow recommended dosing instructions and guidelines, as they could take a while to kick in.

Best Marijuana Edibles in Denver

Honestly, you can’t go wrong with almost any edible, and everyone has their own preference on taste, consistency, etc. That being said, there’s a reason you’ll find certain edibles at almost any dispensary in Denver (or Colorado, in general).

Wana (Brands)

Wana Brands is one of the better-known brands when it comes to edibles. In Colorado, they have a good variety of products, including:

  • Fast-acting gummies (4 varieties and flavors)

  • Quick tinctures (2 varieties, a 1:1 CBD/THC and a 10:1 CBD/THC)

  • Sour gummies (10 different varieties and flavors)

  • Tart candies (3 different varieties and flavors)

  • CBD-only gummies ( 12 different varieties and flavors)

What we love about these edibles is that they taste great, they have the traditional, sugar-sprinkled gummy, and they have a soft, tender consistency. You don’t have to bite down super hard and they’re almost always in stock, because of “high” demand (see what I did there?). You’re likely to find Wana almost everywhere.

Coda (Signature)

Okay, Coda is really starting to catch fire with how awesome their edibles (and tinctures, for that matter) are. Depending on what type of activity you’re looking to do, there is a tasty treat for you. They feature a few different edibles, like:

  • Truffles (made with South American cacao)

  • Gummies (7 different varieties and exotic flavors, like, lychee/cucumber, mango/chile lime, etc.)

  • Chocolate bars (7 different varieties and exotic flavors, like caramel/corn, snap pea/spice, coffee/doughnuts, etc.)

These edibles are vegan-friendly, gluten-free, and naturally and ethically sourced. They’re probably one of the most “exotic” edibles when it comes to taste and flavor. You also have a wide variety of mg THC you can choose from, from 5 mg to 25 mg per package. My mouth is watering just thinking of these edibles.

Wyld

Wyld (Canna) is an edible company that comes from the Pacific Northwest, and really does a good job of representing everything we love about that area of the nation, in its packaging and product. Great branding, made for the active stoner and lifestyle, all-natural, real fruit, perfect for sharing, vibrant colors, ok, we’re done. They have really tasty products, like:

  • Gummies (7 different varieties and flavors)

  • (White) Chocolates (3 different varieties and flavors)

They may seem like any other edible company/product, but what sets them apart is the feeling you get when you eat them. Duh, it’s a high one, but it’s super clean. It feels natural. It feels subtle. It feels right. It feels….WYLD. My personal favorites are the Elderberry THC: CBN ones that have dark, midnight blue packaging. It’s like if you were tucked into bed, read your favorite bedtime story, and kissed on the cheek by your mom or something. Oh, and they are soft and they taste amazing.

1906

1906 is changing the game when it comes to edibles, in the sense that there’s something for everyone, every sort of mood, every sort of variety. It’s in the ingredients that pair with the CBD/THC. Let us explain.

Need help with that essay? There’s an edible for that. Like, specifically. Need help going to sleep? Yep, one for that, too, with the help of corydalis (an herbal ingredient, used in Chinese medicine). Here’s what you can expect to find:

  • Genius - A pill-like edible, with herbal ingredients, caffeine, and THC that help you write like 12 pages for that paper due tomorrow at midnight.

  • Midnight - A chocolate edible, for when you’ve turned in that paper and now you wanna go “night night.”

  • Go - A chocolate edible blend, perfect for getting shit done, out and about, etc. A bit different from “Genius” kinda like that coffee blend you go for when you’re in this mode.

  • Love - Little chocolate candies that are perfect for feeling those sensual, love-enhancing vibes (no, it’s not going to work like Viagra).

  • Chill - A dark chocolate blend of herbal ingredients, CBD, THC, for that time after work, after a long day, to calm yourself (L-theanine, magnolia, etc)

  • Bliss - Going to a social event but not feeling social? This helps promote being bubbly and extroverted. They’re chocolate peanut butter cups with theobromine in them. Blissful.

Happy Chews

Happy Chews seriously are the closest thing I’ve ever gotten to a Starburst-like consistency and flavor. Almost identical, really, only with THC, so maybe actually better. There’s not a ton of variety in products, but they know what they’re doing and they do it right.

  • Taffy - Again, kinda like Starbursts (3 different flavors and varieties)

They’re so tasty, think of like a Laffy Taffy meets Starburst, but then you keep laughing ‘cuz you’re high now. Happy Chews. They come in 100 mg packages.

There are a few other edibles worth mentioning, like Ripple, Blue Kudu (now Curaleaf), Incredibles, and a few of these edible companies include beverages, too, to mix things up. Companies like Wana actually include “mocktails” you can make with tinctures and beverages they provide!

Marijuana Beverages

Marijuana beverages aren't as popular or as well-known as the pot brownie or good ol’ fashioned bong rip, but they're delicious, different, and definitely one of the most unique offerings you'll find at our Denver dispensaries

Marijuana drinks also called cannabis beverages or THC-infused beverages, are cannabis-enhanced drinks that will get you high while quenching your thirst.

Like other varieties of edibles, marijuana beverages are a great choice for marijuana tourists, as they don't smell and you can discreetly enjoy them just about anywhere.

The variety of marijuana drinks is vast, so we've highlighted some of the best cannabis beverages that you'll definitely want to try when you travel to Denver, and don’t forget to check out the marijuana edibles deals on CannaSaver before you hit the dispensary.

Marijuana beverages are one of those must-try 420 novelty items every Denver traveler on a marijuana tour should experience.

There are many brands to choose from, and varieties range from sodas to teas to punches and even coffees.

CannaPunch

One of our favorite brands is CannaPunch, a non-carbonated cannabis-infused beverage that comes in refreshingly fruity flavors like Watermelon Nectar and Juicy Grape.

The punch is made with organic ingredients and is 100% vegan, making it a good choice for the health-conscious Denver 420 traveler.

CannaPunch also makes a product called Mota Energy Citrus Blast, a citrus-flavored, cannabis-infused, caffeine-enriched energy shot that will give you a heavy buzz without weighing you down. There’s also a popular flavor, Black Cherry Fusion, which you can find in our list of edibles.

Many edibles make you drowsy, and these energy shots are a good alternative if you want to get a good high and also stay awake to enjoy it. You can pick up some CannaPunch at many Denver dispensaries.

Dixie Elixirs

Another marijuana beverage line to try is Dixie Elixirs. They offer fruity, fun, THC-infused marijuana beverages in flavors such as Watermelon Cream, Sparkling Pomegranate, Sparkling Blueberry, Peach Iced Tea, and their limited edition Wild Berry Lemonade. Each bottle contains a total of 90 mg THC, with a 5 mg recommended serving size. Dixie Elixirs are great for marijuana tourists and Denver travelers from out of state who aren't experienced with THC-infused beverages. Each bottle features a dosing cap so you can easily measure out the recommended amount without having to do any guesswork. In addition to their fruity soda line, Dixie Elixirs also makes a beverage, especially for coffee-lovers. If you're looking for coffee in Denver and some cannabis to go with it, check out Dixie's Mint Coffee Lift. In addition to THC, coffee, and a touch of mint flavor, Mint Coffee Lift also contains Quercetin, Resveratrol, and D-Ribose, three ingredients reputed to help improve cellular metabolism. MMJ America offers 35% off Dixie Elixirs and all other marijuana beverages every Thursday.

Keef Cola

Colorado-based company Keef Cola makes a wide range of edibles, but it's their sodas that have made them famous among Colorado pot enthusiasts and Denver marijuana tourism travelers alike. Each soda contains 10 mg of THC, and the flavors are named for the cannabis strain with which they are made.

Varieties include:

  • Blue Dream

  • Flo

  • Cherry Bomb

  • Orange Kush

  • Bubba Kush Root Beer

Other Marijuana Edibles to Try

Marijuana beverages are but one of many marijuana edibles products you can find at recreational dispensaries in Denver. There are also chocolates, gummies, pastries, granolas, snack mixes, cookies, candies, mints, and more—and we're just scratching the surface here. We'll cover some of those other edibles in future blog posts, but to really see what all is out there, you'll just have to travel to Denver, visit our dispensaries, and see for yourself.

You'll likely say what many marijuana tourism seekers say when they first step into a well-stocked recreational dispensary: “I feel like a kid in a candy store!”

When you see the countless sparkling jars of beautiful buds and the plethora of candies, marijuana beverages, and other incredible edibles, you'll know exactly what they mean.
