Gram of Wax

Gram of Wax

Posted by CANNASaver on Tuesday, 07 February 2023 in Canna Blog

If you have the desire to dab, then you’re probably going to want a gram of wax to vaporize. But what kind should you get and what’s it going to cost you?

Perhaps you’re about to pick up the phone to order a dank delivery. Or maybe you’re fixing to drive over to the stoner store. Before you do either, you might want some knowledge. Knowledge about what? Why, about the very wax you seek.

You really should know what kind of cannabis concentrate you want. That’s because dispensaries usually have a variety to choose from.

And it’d be useful to understand the potency of the wax you want. How does it compare to smoking leaf?

A final thing to find out is how much the wax will cost. And does your budget allow for just 1 gram or as many as 8?

If you have an idea of the type, effects, and price then there’s something else that may interest you. That would be how to save some money on your potent pot purchase.

Interested? Then read on.

marijuana resin concentrate

What is Weed Wax?

Wax is a somewhat generic term for cannabis concentrates. There are a variety of different kinds of waxes. Many have different means of production and unique appearances. All of them are potent pot solids most often used in dabbing.

Concentrates tend to have THC levels of between 60 and 90 percent.

Some weed waxes are made with chemical solvents. Others are solventless. The latter uses non-chemical extraction methods involving temperature and pressure.

What are some varieties of dabs that you need to know about?

  • Wax – This term is used as a general group description of cannabis concentrates, yet it’s also a specific type. It is an amber-colored solid with a sticky appearance like tree sap.
  • Shatter – This brittle solid tends to look like a thin piece of glass or plastic. It’s also often referred to as BHO or butane hash oil. It tends to have a yellow-brown coloring.
  • Budder – Other names for this one include butter and badder. It’s a pale-yellow variety with a whipped consistency.
  • Sugar – Here is a wax with a granular crystalline consistency. It can vary in color from very pale yellow to deep amber.
  • Resin – The consistency of resin is rather liquid. The coloring ranges from light to dark brown. The live version uses pot plants that are frozen immediately after harvest. There is no drying or curing involved.
  • Rosin – This one is a major solventless kind of wax. It tends to be light amber in hue. Live rosin is also made with freshly harvested plants. The nugs are flash-frozen immediately after they are plucked.
  • Crumble – Finally, we have a form of wax that is drier and more powdery that the others on this list. The coloring is across the spectrum from light brown to very dark.

Another form of concentrated ganja is vaporizer cartridges. Those, though, are filled with cannabis oil. Arguably, you could consider oil a form of liquid wax.

Okay, now that you have an idea of what waxes there are, how do they compare to plain old flower?

high thc wax concentrate

How Many Grams of Weed are in a Gram of Wax?

Obviously, waxes are called concentrates for a reason. They have generally much higher percentages of THC than flower. Thus, it makes sense that it takes a lot more flower to make a little wax. How much more?

Well, if you’re going to make your own stuff then you can expect about 2-7 grams of concentrate from an ounce of nugs.

That may seem like an awful lot of leaf for a little wax, but keep in mind the difference in concentration.

Raw marijuana bud has THC levels of around 15-25% THC. It can go even higher but the botanical limit for THC percentage in plants seems to be 35%. For higher levels than that, you need concentrates.

Depending on how strong of an effect you seek, you can make a little of the stronger stuff go a long way. Or you can get extremely buzzed by dabbing away.

But a gram of ground greens is not going to get you as phenomenally high as a gram of shatter or budder.

Now, what about pricing? How much are you going to pay for dabbing solids?

How Much is it for 1 Gram of Wax or 8 Grams of Wax?

Lots of things can affect pot prices

Potency is probably one of the biggest factors in the cost of buying any kind of bud product. For example, premium or top-shelf flower tends to cost more. They also often have more THC than lower-tiered alternatives.

Stoner solids have higher rates of psychotropic chemicals, too. So how does that translate when it comes to cost?

Well if you want to compare bud to wax, we can show you a few examples:

As you can see, a gram-sized amount of concentrate is going to cost you somewhere between $25 - $40. Now, there are sometimes price breaks for buying more. Even better, there are promotions that encourage you to buy extra.

For instance, Seed Cannabis Co in Tulsa, Oklahoma, has a buy-2-get-1-free concentrates promo.

Buy 2, Get 1 FREE - All Concentrates, Cartridges, Tinctures & Topicals | Tulsa | Seed Cannabis Co

So, for every two, with an extra jar of wax you could get over eight grams for the cost of six.

How do you get in on great deals like this? That’s what the final section below is all about.

Shake vs Bud

Shake vs Bud

Posted by CANNASaver on Friday, 03 February 2023 in Canna Blog

So you’re browsing around at your favorite dispensary when you discover that they have bud for sale.  Even more confusing, they have shake for sale.
If you’re a newer canna-consumer you might be wondering, What is shake? What is bud?

"Bud" as a term is generally used to refer to the fully-formed, dried flowers of the cannabis plant.

These buds contain the highest concentration of cannabinoids, terpenes, and other compounds that are responsible for the plant's effects. Buds are typically considered the highest-quality part of the cannabis plant and are often sold at a premium.

In terms of the overall, popular cannabis aesthetic, many think that bigger is always better when it comes to the buds themselves.

For those looking for an alternative to premium-costing buds, shake might just be the one for those who want to cut costs on smoking or for making edibles on a bigger scale. Shake can be a great cost-effective and potent replacement.

Cannasaver is going to show you how.

marijuana bud

Defining Bud and Shake

As we briefly stated, "Bud" as a term, refers to the larger, intact flowers of the cannabis plant that are typically more potent than shake.

Buds are often visually distinguishable from shake due to their size, density, and visible trichomes (tiny hairs that contain cannabinoids).

Whereas, "Shake" as a term, refers to the small pieces of cannabis flower that have broken off or fallen to the bottom of one’s stash container.

Shake can come from a variety of strains and can be used for smoking, vaping, or making edibles.

However, because it is made up of small pieces and sometimes contains bits of stem or leaves, the potency of shake may be lower than that of intact buds.

How Do Shake and Bud Differ From One Another?

There are some major differences to look for, between shake vs bud.

Here are the main ones:

  • Appearance: Buds are the large, intact flowers of the cannabis plant, while shake consists of smaller pieces that have broken off or fallen to the bottom of a container.
  • Potency: Buds are generally more potent than shake, as they contain a higher concentration of cannabinoids like THC and CBD
  • Quality: Buds are typically of higher quality than shake, as they are more intact and have not been broken down into smaller pieces.
  • Price: Shake is usually less expensive than buds, as it is lower in potency and quality.
  • Usage: Buds are often used for smoking or vaping, while shake is more commonly used for making edibles, tinctures, or other infused products.

Average Prices For Shake and Bud

Typically, cannabis buds are going to be more expensive than shake because of its higher potency and more intact structure.

The average price of bud can range from $10 to $20 a gram. Shake’s average price range is around $5-$10 per gram.

Both can vary in price.

marijuana shake

The Pros and Cons of Shake vs Bud

Benefits of Shake

  1. Affordability: Shake is usually less expensive than buds, making it a more affordable option for those on a budget.
  2. Convenience: Shake is often easier to handle and measure than buds, especially when it comes to cooking or making edibles.
  3. Availability: Shake is usually more readily available than buds, as it can be sourced from the bottom of storage containers or from trimmings during the cultivation process.
  4. Versatility: Shake can be used in a variety of ways, including smoking, vaping, making edibles, or even making cannabis-infused drinks.

Drawbacks of Shake

  1. Lower Potency: Shake may contain bits of stem, leaves, or smaller pieces of flower, which can make it less potent than buds.
  2. Inconsistent Quality: Because shake is made up of small pieces and bits of plant material, it can be difficult to ensure consistent quality from batch to batch.
  3. Impurities: Shake may contain impurities such as dust, dirt, or other contaminants that can affect the overall quality and safety of the product.
  4. Flavor: Some people may find that shake has a less desirable flavor or aroma compared to buds.

Benefits of Bud

  1. High Potency: Buds contain high levels of THC and other cannabinoids, making them an effective choice for those seeking strong and consistent effects.
  2. Quality: Buds are typically of higher quality than shake, as they are more intact and have not been broken down into smaller pieces.
  3. Variety: Cannabis buds come in a wide variety of strains, each with their own unique characteristics and effects.
  4. Aroma and Flavor: Many people enjoy the distinctive aroma and flavor of cannabis buds, which can vary depending on the strain.

Drawbacks of Bud

  1. Cost: Cannabis buds can be more expensive than other forms of cannabis, such as shake or trim, due to their higher potency and quality.
  2. Intimidation: For those new to cannabis, the high potency of buds can be intimidating or overwhelming, leading to unpleasant experiences.
  3. Preparation: Buds often require some preparation before use, such as grinding or rolling, which can be time-consuming or inconvenient for some users.
  4. Legality: Each state within the U.S. differs on weed laws, which can make it difficult or risky to obtain and use cannabis buds.

marijuana bud closeup

Both shake and bud can be used for smoking, but they have their differences.

Shake is less expensive and can be a good option for those on a tight budget or those who want to try a new strain without spending too much.

However, shake may not be as potent or flavorful as bud, and it may contain more stems and seeds.

On the other hand, bud is more expensive, but it is generally more potent, flavorful, and has a better appearance.

Whether you choose to smoke shake or bud depends on your personal preference and budget. Whichever you do end up choosing, it's important to handle and store your smoking materials properly to get the most out of your smoking experience.

This Groundhog's Day, Pig Out on The Hog

Posted by CANNASaver on Thursday, 02 February 2023 in Marijuana Bud

In honor of Groundhog's Day, we wanted to showcase the closest strain by name to the holiday -- TH Seeds' The Hog.

If you're wanting to cultivate this little piggy though, your time is growing short. It's a discontinued variety, and unless you're lucky enough to come by a clone, the only place to buy it is from Linda Seeds. You won't find a feminized version, either.

She's a gem though -- and even won the Amsterdam High Times Cannabis Cup in 2002 in the indica category (submitted by Hemp Works). Originally from Tennessee, the strain made its way to the cup by way of San Digo, CA, where she developed a cult following for her couch-lock ability.

Flowering time is around 60 days, she grows bushy to an average height of 4.5ft, and yields are above average at 400-600 p.s.m. She's a derivative of Hawgsbreath (aka San Diego Hog), whose origins remain unknown.

Here are some of the hybrids and crossbreeds of this type of marijuana bud:

HogZilla: The Hog x Kimbo Kush
Green Gummy: The Hog x Peyote Purple #7
Piglet: The Hog x Chem Breath
Fat Axl: AK 47 x The Hog

So if you do find yourself lucky enough to be filling a bowl with The Hog today, don't forget to share!

How to Pack a Bubbler

How to Pack a Bubbler

Posted by CANNASaver on Wednesday, 01 February 2023 in Canna Blog

So, you found yourself browsing in your local pipe shop or just so happened to be looking through our glass pipe section. Then you see it – a bubbler.

At this point, you're thinking, what even is a bubbler? Or, if you aren’t as new to cannabis, thinking that if you already have a pipe and bong, why would you need a bubbler? How do you pack a bubbler?

Bubblers are a tried-and-true kind of water pipe used for smoking your favorite strains of cannabis. They are similar to a bong but typically smaller and more portable.

Bubblers can provide a smoother, more enjoyable smoking experience than traditional pipes, with less harshness on the throat and lungs.

Speaking of benefits, let’s get a little deeper into using bubblers for smoking and how to pack a bubbler.

green bubbler on table

Benefits of Using a Bubbler

There are a few main reasons why using a bubbler to smoke your flower is a great option.

  • Portability: Bubblers are typically smaller and more portable than bongs, making them a good option for on-the-go cannabis use.

  • Smooth Smoke: Bubblers use water to filter and cool the smoke, resulting in a smoother and less harsh smoking experience compared to traditional pipes or joints.

  • Versatility: Bubblers can be used with both dry flower and concentrates, allowing for a wide range of cannabis consumption options.

  • Taste: Bubblers can enhance the flavors and aromas of different cannabis strains, as the water helps to release and amplify the terpenes in the plant material.

  • Reduced Smell: Bubblers can produce less smoke and odor compared to traditional smoking methods, making them a good option for more discreet cannabis use.

Materials For Packing A Bubbler

Okay, here’s what you’ll need to pack your bubbler…

  • Your Favorite Cannabis Strain: You will need a small amount of ground cannabis flower to pack into the bowl of the bubbler.
  • Your Bubbler: You will need a cannabis bubbler, which is a water pipe that has a small bowl for holding the cannabis, a stem, and a chamber filled with water.
  • Water: You will need enough water to fill the chamber of the bubbler.
  • Lighter: You will need a lighter to ignite the cannabis in the bowl.
  • Ashtray: You will need an ashtray or other receptacle to catch the ash and debris from the burnt cannabis.
  • (Optional) Grinder: A grinder can be used to break up the cannabis flower into smaller pieces, making it easier to pack into the bowl of the bubbler.
  • A Screen: A small metal screen can be placed in the bowl of the bubbler to help prevent debris and ash from being inhaled.

Step-By-Step: How To Pack A Bubbler

Now that you have gathered all of the supplies needed, packing your bubbler is a fairly simple process.

It only involves a few basic steps.

Here's how you can do it:

  1. Grind Your Flower: Start by grinding your herb to a medium-fine consistency. You can use a hand grinder or an electric grinder for this step.
  2. (Optional) Place a Screen: If you have a small metal screen, place it in the bowl of the bubbler to help prevent debris and ash from being inhaled.
  3. Fill Your Bubbler’s Bowl: Next, take the bowl of your bubbler and fill it with the ground herb. You want to fill it to about 2/3 to 3/4 full, leaving some space for airflow.
  4. Pack the Herb: Use your fingers or a packing tool to gently pack the herb down into the bowl. You want to pack it just enough to create a solid, even layer of herb.
  5. Add the Water: Fill the bubbler with water until it reaches just above the percolator. Be careful not to overfill the bubbler, as you don't want water to splash into your mouth when you take a hit.
  6. Test the Draw: Before you light up, take a few test draws to make sure the airflow is smooth and consistent. If the draw is too tight, you may need to pack the herb more loosely or adjust the water level.
  7. Light Up and Enjoy: Once everything is set up, light up the herb and take a slow, steady hit. Make sure to inhale deeply and exhale slowly to get the most out of your bubbler.
  8. Clean Your Bubbler: After you're done smoking, be sure to clean your bubbler to prevent the buildup of resin and debris that can affect the taste and quality of your smoke.

How to Clean a Bubbler

Okay, now that you’re done smoking, keep it nice and tidy! Here’s how to keep your bubbler its cleanest:

  1. Firstly, empty the water from the bubbler and remove any loose debris using a pipe cleaner or a cotton swab.
  2. Next, fill a container with rubbing alcohol and kosher salt and soak the bubbler for about an hour.
  3. Shake the container occasionally to dislodge any stubborn residue (that's what the kosher salt is there for).
  4. Afterward, rinse the bubbler with warm water and scrub it with a soft-bristled brush.
  5. Repeat this process until the bubbler is entirely clean, then let it dry.

Regular cleaning of your bubbler will make sure that it lasts long and provides a pure smoking experience.

Best Prerolls

Best Prerolls

Posted by CANNASaver on Tuesday, 31 January 2023 in Canna Blog

When it comes to puffing pot, prerolls are pretty lit. Next to packing a pipe, there’s not much more basic. All you gotta do is light the tip and inhale from the filter to enjoy a good smoke.

Joints are an old-school way to enjoy weed. But not everyone is skilled at rolling their own. That’s why buying a premade doobie is a nice, simple solution for newbies.

Many stoners like the convenience of not dealing with rolling papers and raw weed. They may be proficient rollers, but having a reefer ready to go saves time and effort.

What goes into prerolled weed cones and why do they remain popular? Convenience is certainly part of the reason, sure. But we’ll take a closer look at this cannabis staple.

Then we’ll examine what goes into a quality manufactured toking stick. That way you will know what to look for when you shop at your favorite stoner store.

Next, we’ll give you some examples of some of the best premade puffs available. These joints may be available at your local dispensary.

Maybe doobies don’t do it for you. There are pros and cons to everything. Prerolls are no different. So, we’ll look at these so you can decide for yourself.

Finally, if you decide to buy and then try a preroll, we’ll help you save some cash. After all, dank deals and bud bargains are what Cannasaver was created for.

Let’s start with some blunt basics.

bag of preroll joints

What Exactly is a Preroll and Why Are They So Popular?

The concept is simple enough. Take some ground cannabis and roll it up in some kind of paper. Then all you gotta do is light and take a hit.

If it’s already rolled up for you, then it’s even easier. That’s why prerolls are popular dispensary items. That and the fact that they are usually among the least expensive items for sale at the stoner store.

There’s even some variety to the offerings. Manufactured marijuana smokes come in different sizes. They can be commonly found in half-gram and full-gram sizes. There are also king-sized varieties that hold 1 ½ to 2 grams of ganja.

If you like intense highs, there are even oil-infused and kief-covered filled cones. These are sometimes referred to as caviar sticks. These tend to be THC-heavy; thus, taking one gets you good and buzzed.

What else makes for a superior smoke?

What Makes a Quality Preroll?

Expert tokers know what to look for in a manufactured joint. But what should the less experienced learn to discern?

Here are some pointers on what to consider when evaluating the quality of a cannabis smoke:

  • Taste and aroma – Flavor and fragrance relate directly to the potency and freshness of the cannabis. Higher-end strains and popular varieties often make for predictably awesome prerolls. And if it’s a familiar strain that you liked smoking in a bowl, you’ll probably like it as a joint.
  • The type of rolling paper used – the weed wrap can affect the taste and aroma. It also can dictate how your doobie burns. Does it canoe – or burn along the top? Poor-quality paper could result in uneven burning.

Options are usually plain paper or cannabis leaf. Plant matter tends to be less harsh when burning.

  • What effects do you want? Indicas will tend to make you sleepy. Sativas are stimulating. And hybrids bring balance to the Force, so to speak.
  • Overall smoking experience – Does it make you want more? An agreeable smoke will do that. Good flavor and aroma are always desirable. And a good wrap reduces harshness. Most importantly, does it give you the effects that you expected?

Keep the above criteria in mind. Now, let’s look at a few of the best-premade joints out there in the marijuana marketplace.

jar of preroll joints

What are the Top Preroll Brands on the Market?

Premades are either assembled in-house by dispensaries or manufactured by marijuana marketing companies. There are a number of quality brands that are renowned for making excellent smokes.

Doobie makers of distinction include:

Stone Road

This cannabis creator makes some excellent prerolls. Their offerings include single and multipack cannabis cones. They also sell flower in baggies and jars.

Each of their joints is hand-rolled with care. This personalized approach also means they grow their own pot plants. Their cannabis crops are fed by artisan wells. Their approach to growing is organic and ecologically friendly.

Though these smokes are paper-wrapped versus cannabis-wrapped, the papers are French-imported. These premium wraps are created using unbleached plant cellulose. They are then sealed with organic gum from an acacia tree.

How does this affect their pot products? There’s peace of mind because there are no pesticides and artificial ingredients. There’s also great taste, which is what every toker wants.

710 Labs

This company makes a wide variety of marijuana merchandise. 710 Labs makes and markets everything from leaf to concentrates, and gummies too. And, of course, they make prerolls.

This is another company that grows its own source plants. And everything is chemical-free and organic.

What makes their smokes most distinctive is that their filter tip is a noodle. That’s right, they use a gluten-free rotini pasta noodle for good airflow. That way you get satisfying amounts of smoke and full flavor with each puff.

They use quality RAW papers that are cut shorter because of the rotini filter. That means less paper and smoother smoking.

Once again, we have a preroll that you can feel confident about toking. And the distinctive noodle filter provides excellent air exchange with each puff.

Kaviar

This last example is an infused and kief-covered cone. These are potent pot puffers powered by flower, hash oil, and kief.

With so much cannabis content, the flavor and aroma of these stoner sticks are intense. And so are the effects. You’re getting, after all, three different kinds of ganja at once.

This brand began in Colorado in 2016.  They were among the first infused and kief-covered cannabis cones marketed. They use only the best, top-shelf flower and concentrates to make their products. Further, they utilize quality RAW papers to roll their joints.

So these are superior smokes by reputation. You might want to try toking one yourself.

Here are some extra strength, infused smokes we found on Cannasaver. The links include a couple of actual Kaviar cones:

Our examples are all popular and potent smokes. They are known for quality and strong effects when toked. And certainly, prerolls are convenient and easy to use.

But are they the best way to enjoy weed? What are the pluses and minuses of puffing premade joints?

preroll joints

What are the Pros and Cons of Prerolls?

Everything has upsides and downsides. When it comes to enjoying weed in a cone, that is also true.

Before we get to bargains to spread out your bud bucks, let’s examine the good and the bad of burning blunts.

Pros:

  • It's easy to try new strains with cones. Usually, they are made with about a gram of leaf, so that’s plenty to evaluate the flavor, aroma, and experience.
  • Doobies tend to be inexpensive dispensary items. Costs can run from as little as $10-15, to up to $50 or more. It all depends on the quality and popularity of the pot used in making them.
  • Prerolls are easily disposable and there’s no bowl or equipment to clean. However, you probably should empty your ashtray from time to time.

Cons:

  • Puffing on a cone is not as filtered as bongs or dab rigs.
  • Uneven burning can waste weed.
  • Papers can leave an unpleasant taste and interfere with the experience.
  • You lose the experience of rolling a doobie yourself. Rolling is a stoner rite of passage.

There are certainly other cannabis options out there. Edibles are a great way to enjoy weed and the highs last longer than anything - even if they kick in more slowly. Vaping has become popular because of its potency and portability. And if you want to smoke straight leaf then pipes are pretty easy to use, plus you don’t have the paper taste to worry about.

However, a premade smoke is like dining out – you don’t have to do any of the work, just enjoy. Lots of people misjudge the potency of edibles and overindulge. Likewise, vape cartridges may be too strong for starter stoners. So, there is something to be said for a decent dispensary doobie.

And if you decide to try one for yourself, we can lead you to a discount.

Discount Vaporizers

Posted by CANNASaver on Saturday, 28 January 2023 in Canna Blog

Toking is a timeless stoner tradition, true. But vaping and dabbing have become intensely popular among pot fans.

Why has using a vaporizer to smoke weed become a mainstay for cannabis consumers? There are some distinct advantages over other methods of marijuana enjoyment. We’re going to go over some of the pluses of vape use. We’ll also look at some arguments against it.

There are different ways to vaporize. We’ll look take a closer look at the different approaches to vaping and dabbing

And we’ll show you some inexpensive vapes and rigs for your consideration. After all, saving money on the means of vaping leaves more to spend on weed wax. Or you can conserve your cannabis cash for vaporizer cartridges.

Finally, being Cannasaver, we will help you find the best bargains on vaping supplies. Dispensary discounts are our business and we’ve got loads of coupon links to save your bud bucks.

Let’s start by taking a look at getting lit from vaping.

To Vape or Not to Vape

When it comes to cannabis, some consumers are torn on the subject of smoking flower. On the one hand, smoking is the traditional means of cannabis consumption. It allows tokers to enjoy the complete flavor profile of the plant. Plus they experience the speedy uptake and near-instant effects associated with inhalation.

Smokable products may be distasteful to family and friends. Thus, some stoners would rather not risk offense by lighting up a doobie.

The good news is there’s a happy medium. This is thanks to vape products. They produce an inhalable mist, or vapor, rather than smoke. So, you can enjoy burning cannabis products without the potential social drawbacks.

Some people just plain prefer vape hits to puffing pot. Are there actually advantages to enjoying your ganja this way?

Let’s start with the positives. What are the upsides?

Better taste and aroma

Some stoners say that they prefer vaping to smoking because the flavor is better. First of all, there are no papers – so all you taste is concentrated cannabis. Secondly, because oils and waxes are concentrates, that means dense cannabinoids and terpenes. Those are where your flavors, odors, and effects come from.

More efficient burning

Vapes can be used at lower temperatures, which release cannabinoids and terpenes better. And temperature modulation means that more marijuana is inhaled. This is opposed to being immediately burned away with an open flame.

Portability

Vaporizer pens with 510 screw-on cartridges fit easily into purses and pockets. That means they can be taken and used anywhere. Even dab rigs and bongs can be carefully taken along on rides or out into nature.

Some tabletop models are less portable and those need an outlet to plug into. But there are also several vaping accessories that are entirely easy to use anywhere.

More discreet

Related to portability is discretion. It’s less noticeable to puff from a pen vape than pull out and light a doobie. Even weed pipes put out a lot of thick smoke.

Unless someone is fairly close to you, they don’t know if you’re using a tobacco or cannabis vape. If they are close, maybe they can smell it. But, visually, to most people vaping regular or ‘wacky’ tobacco oil would look the same. That said, you should be aware of local ordinances about weed use in public, so you avoid legal issues.

Without thick smoke and particulates, the smell of a vape is less noticeable in the air. It's also milder in your hair and on clothing.

Safer than smoking

Arguably, vaporizing concentrates is safer than breathing in particulate-filled smoke. There are concerns that many smoking particles can be carcinogenic in nature.

Also, there’s no open flame, thus less chance of an accidental burn. However, dabbing does utilize a blow torch. Battery vapes, as long as they are charged, obviously can be used without needing a match or lighter.

Okay, and are there any negatives? Some people think so.

Vaping is more complicated than smoking flower.

Depending on the kind of device, there is a learning curve to vaping. Some pens have easily adjustable temperature settings. Other types require you to meticulously set and adjust the heating element. But there is a learned finesse to vaping or dabbing right.

And there is cleaning and charging for some vaporizers.

There is some concern about the risk of inhaling trace amounts of vitamin E acetate. This chemical can cause lung damage.

Vaping concentrates also involves higher concentrations of THC. That might mean the resultant buzz could be too intense for some users.

Cost-effective

Vaping devices range from cheap and simple pen vapes to elaborate dab rigs.

But to really get the headiest vaping experience, you’d want to invest in a decent dab rig. And that can get costly.

To give you an idea, a typical vaporizer pen can run about $15-20. And vaporizer cartridges can be had for $20-$70.

On the more designer end of the spectrum, a decent dab rig can cost you between $60 to about $200. That’s for rig/bong, banger or nail, torch, and carb cap.

Herbal vapes can be pricey, too. Especially high-end tabletop models, which can run as high as $500.

Okay, that’s the good and bad of vaping, what are your options?

weed pen

Different Kinds of Vaporizers

Vaping devices fall into three categories: tabletop units, portable vapes, and pens.

Tabletop vapes have the most power. Brands like Volcano have big bags that fill with vapor and then you breathe from them. That tends to be a lot of volume and thus amazing amounts of THC. So, they can get you amazingly high.

They are fun for parties and pot pals getting together. But they aren’t very portable. You have to have a power socket nearby to plug into. They are generally bigger and bulkier. That makes them a challenge to lug around.

These bulkier vapes work for both dry herbs and wax concentrates.

Portable vapes are different from pens, though both are obviously easy to use on the go.

These units can include dab rigs, which are small enough to carry with you. Mainly portables have better batteries and more temperature control than pen battery bases. Many units have adapters for concentrates and can also heat dry herb.

Some pieces have a heating chamber for herb or oil. Others are designed to accept 510-threaded carts.

A few models can even be controlled via smartphone apps.

And 510-threaded vaporizer pens are pretty much what they say on the label. These devices are cylindrical sticks with a single button. They are standardized to accept 510-threaded cartridges.

Generally, they have a single button that you press to heat the oil cartridge and produce vapor. With many, multiple presses are used to turn off or on and adjust heating levels.

Pens can be used for dozens of hits between recharges.

A subset of stick vapes is disposables. Disposable vape pens tend to have no power button. You just inhale through the mouthpiece to get vapor. Then after around 100 or so hits, you throw the empty device away.

Next, we’ll give you a few sample discount units. You might consider one of these for consuming leaf or concentrated cannabis.

Examples of Discount Vapes

We’ll start with the cheapest and easiest to use, pen and disposable vaporizer pens.

Many dispensaries sell these very basic units. And, of course, they also sell concentrated oil cartridges. You can also find 510-threaded bases online at Amazon or eBay.

Here are a few sample discounts found here on Cannasaver:

$13.95 Disposable Vape Pen 250mg | Denver | Pure Marijuana Dispensary - W 40th

Aeropro Vape Pen $30 | Denver | Herbs4you

Buy Any 2 Live Resin or Live Rosin Cartridges and Get a Free Battery | Denver | Herbs4you

We’ll include some links for oil carts below.

What about portable units? These are less likely to be found at a provisioning center. But you can find many online.

Yocan Kodo Pro Box Mod is an example of a decent discount portable piece. It retails for a regular price of $19.99. There’s even a payment plan of a few dollars per month.

This one has a digital readout and an adjustable voltage setting. It is designed for 510-threaded cartridges.

Yocan Vane Portable Vaporizer is a dry herb vape priced at $59.99. It also has a payment plan.

Other features include a ceramic heating chamber. It takes a mere 30 seconds to heat. There’s a digital OLED display. And it has very precise temperature control.

If you want to dab, the Stoned Genie 6" Classic Shower Bend Dab Rig is a good example of a discount rig.

For $28.99 you get a 6” quartz glass base plus a banger that you heat to put wax in. There is a standard bowl included for toking weed flower.  It comes with green, blue, or yellow accents.

Finally, we have an example of a budget tabletop bud burner. The Vaporite Solo Digit device costs $89.99. That price is inexpensive for one of these bulkier units.

It has a wooden chassis and includes the rubber tubing or whip. The vaporizer features a digital temperature LCD with a wireless remote control. The temperature range starts at 253°F and goes up to 420°F. This one heats up in about a minute, then you can place your herb and toke away.

So, you have an idea of the different devices and what cheaper units go for. Now, how about some savings on supplies?

How Much Weed is in a Half Ounce?

How Much Weed is in a Half Ounce?

Posted by CANNASaver on Thursday, 26 January 2023 in Canna Blog

How much weed is enough? That is definitely a question where “your mileage may vary”! But if your budget only allows for a half ounce of bud, that’s still a pretty good amount.

Although there are ounce deals aplenty, that may still be a bit more money than you can scrape together. Fortunately, you can find all kinds of dispensary deals on smaller amounts. Eighths, quarters, and, of course, halves can be found at a discount.

Maybe for newbie stoners, these quantities might be confusing. What are the different weed marijuana measures? How many grams are in a half ounce anyway? We’ll look at the various weights of weed so that you can compare.

And once you know how much a ½ ounce is, you’ll likely want some idea of how much money you’ll need. Although there’s not one flat rate, we’ll compare pricing from different areas to give you an idea.

After you’ve got the size and price information, then you can go out and buy some bud. But then what do you do with a half-O? We’ll give you some suggestions to consider.

Finally, we will help you find the best bargains on a half-ounce of flower. We’ll show you how to search your particular area for the deals you desire. That is, after all, what Cannasaver does best.

So, there’s more to half an ounce than you might think. Let’s start with how it’s measured.

half ounce weed flower

So, How Many Grams Are in a Half Ounce?

Lots of things we buy come in different sizes. Milk, for instance, can be found in pints, quarts, half gallons, and gallons. Pop comes in cans, glass bottles, and 2-liter plastic containers. Weed is like that too.

Marijuana is marketed in eighths, quarters, halves, and ounces. In some instances, pot comes in pounds. But it currently isn’t legal for consumers to buy it that way.

Thus, ounces are usually the largest size at your local dispensary. And how big is an ‘O’? Technically, it’s 28.3 grams. However, it is often rounded to 28 grams. That makes it easier to subdivide.

That way, an eighth is 3.5 grams. A quarter is 7 grams. And halves are 14 grams.

Why grams? Because as part of the metric base-10 system of measurement, it’s easy to do the math. To multiply or divide tens, you just have to move the decimal

However, ounces and pounds are not metric. So, what’s up with that?

Mainly it’s due to the fact that Americans don’t like the metric system. So, they tend to stick with older units of measure like ounces and pounds.

But an ounce is really close to 28 grams, so the two systems more or less work together. With some rounding.

Okay, so having had the amounts explained, what about the cost?

How Much Does a Half Ounce Typically Cost?

Before you decide if you have enough for any amount of cannabis, you might want to know the price.

But pot pricing isn’t universal. The cost of weed can vary depending on a number of factors.

Geography is one thing that can affect cannabis costs. Some regions of the country are just more pricey. Think Beverly Hills versus downtown Los Angeles. It’s that way with rent, groceries, and weed, too.

Supply and demand of various strains can be another expense factor. Popular new strains may be in such high demand that they can charge more for them.

Additionally, there is a tiered structure to weed. The premium weeds are called top shelf. The level below that is your mids. Then there are bottom shelf or lower tier strains. They are priced accordingly.

Every level of weed is generally good. Premium ganja tends to be higher in THC.

Medical marijuana prices tend to be a bit cheaper. In some instances, the THC levels are also stouter.

Provisioning center promotions are positive factors when it comes to paying for your pot. For many reasons, stoner stores like to discount weed. We will show you how to locate lit opportunities to save some dough.

But before we find bud bargains, we’ll give you a few representative prices for halves. Obviously, these are at the time of writing. Prices are subject to change. So if you live near one of these examples, call or visit their website before shopping.

So, what are some places charging?

As you can see, prices are all over the place. Due to the factors listed above, it’s difficult to come up with an average price nationally. Therefore, you may need to check multiple pot shops in your area to find a baseline price for bud.

Once you have found and purchased a 1/2 ounce, what can you do with it?

half ounce of flower on plate

What Can You Do With Half An Ounce?

So, 14 grams is a decent amount of ganja, and there’s a lot you can use it for. Like what? See for yourself.

  • Obviously, you can take your ½ O and smoke it up. Depending on the size bowl on your pipe or bong, that could be a dozen smoke sessions or more. How long that will last is going depend on how much you smoke at once. A gram a day, for instance, will last a couple of weeks.
  • Or you could roll a bunch of doobies. Or several blunts.
  • When it comes to making cannabis-infused edibles or cannabutter, it turns out that halves are an ideal size.
  • You could also use it to make yourself some weed wax

If you need any amount of marijuana to last, then you have to moderate your smoking and toking. If you know that you’re going to resupply soon, then puff away with abandon.

Okay, so now that you know a few things. We’ve talked about how much a half-ounce is. Then we covered the costs. Lastly, you got some suggestions about using that much flower.

But this is Cannasaver, and what we do is help you find the best discounts on all your pot purchases. So, let’s get to that.

cost of half ounce weed

How Can You Find Half Ounce Deals On Cannasaver?

Finding dank deals for whatever weed needs you have is simple.

There are also dropdown menus across the top of every webpage. The closest to the search rectangle is ’categories’. That menu has offerings like ‘Deals Near Me’, ‘Recreational’, and ‘Dispensary Daily Deals’.

To the right of the ‘Categories’ drop-down list are more specific headings. These links are for things like ‘Ounce Deals’, ‘Newest Deals’, and, of course, ‘Blog’.

Under the Cervantes alias, he started self-publishing books on cannabis cultivation, mainly because most publishers refused to work with him based on the content. Beginning with Indoor Marijuana Horticulture, which ultimately transformed into the more comprehensive Marijuana Horticulture, and went on to sell over a million copies worldwide.

With over 1 million books sold, Jorge has cemented a reputation the best-selling author in the field of cannabis cultivation, having written a series of published works detailing his expertise in many aspects of cultivation including indoor, outdoor and greenhouse growing. Seedsman CEO Tom Raikes and Jorge Cervantes have enjoyed a friendship spanning many years. Given their respective statuses as leaders in the cannabis industry, it made sense that the time was right to collaborate. Combining their knowledge of cannabis cultivation and genetics, they, along with Seedsman Chief Scientific Officer Dr Gary Yates, put plans in place to provide cannabis cultivators with an easy to access, easy to follow guidebook to producing the best cannabis possible – something everyone can achieve with the right tools.

BOGO Weed Deals

BOGO Weed Deals

Posted by CANNASaver on Monday, 09 January 2023 in Canna Blog

What does BOGO mean? It’s an acronym for Buy One Get One – the second one is free.

Why is that good? Well, the operative word is free. You are getting twice as much for the same price. That is totally made of win!

buy one get one

And amongst cannabis dispensaries, BOGO deals abound. That is obviously good for stoner shoppers. Provisioning centers want to sell you more weed, so they are willing to make deals.

Savvy shoppers know how to search for savings. However, if you’re a newbie, you are in the right place. We will help you out.

And what kind of bud bargains can you find? Nearly everything you could want from your favorite providing center.

Want a couple of edibles at a considerable discount? There are buy-one-get-one pot-infused food bargains at most bud stores.

If you’re a dedicated dabber, there are deals for you, too. Can you mix BOGO waxes, or must it be two of the same kind? We’ll take a look.

And if you need an extra ounce, what then? Well, you can get free ounces, too, at some dispensaries.

Are there other categories of BOGO to fill your weed deal dreams? Most certainly there are! And we’ll look at some of those as well.

So, you find a deal you like. Say it’s a wax or maybe some weed leaf.

How Do BOGO Deals Work?

If you’ve ever shopped at a grocery store, then you’ve likely run into a buy-one-get-one offer. Or sometimes it’s phrased as ‘buy one get one of equal or lesser value’.

It’s a simple enough concept. The idea is that you pay for just one thing but actually get two things. The first you pay for, and the latter is free.

However, there are variations on the idea. There are also buy-one-get-the-second-half-off promos. Or you can buy one from one selection of merchandise and get your freebie from another group. Buying products and getting free samples is another variation of BOGO.

Suffice it to say that there are a lot of different ways stores run ‘get-one-free’ offers. So, you need to make sure you understand the particulars of the promotion you’re interested in. Read the text carefully and don’t be afraid to ask questions.

To help you out, we’ll show you how to find great deals where you get free weed when you’re buying bud. And then we will give you some examples and links to get you started.

Fortunately, you are on the perfect website for finding great deals for all of your ganja needs.

buy one get one weed deals

How to Find BOGO Deals on Cannasaver

Cannasaver is all about getting you decent deals and discounts. And it’s easy to find the kinds of weed coupons that you’re looking for.

First of all, there is a handy search rectangle on the upper left part of the page. You can input whatever you’re interested in there. So, you could type in ‘BOGO’ and it would show you all of the listed buy-one-get-one deals.

Below it is a map icon, which you can use to specify a geographic area. That way you get the weed deals closest to you.

There are also menu headers to the right of that. The first is a drop-down menu for various categories. There you’ll see things listed like ‘ounce deals’, ‘wax concentrate deals and coupons’, and so forth.

Once your search brings up a list of coupons, look for ‘BOGO’. That’s about it. The details about the offer will be there for your consideration.

To help you along, we’ve compiled some info on different kinds of BOGO bargains below.

BOGO Edibles on Cannasaver

Everybody likes a little weed-infused food now and then. The highs are long-lasting, and the treats are tasty. And ganja goodies range from weed cookies to pot brownies and even beverages.

Edibles can also include Rick Simpson Oil syringes and capsules. Dab syringes are similar to RSO.

So, what kinds of edible deals can you hope to find?

Weed coupons for edibles can be general for all eats or sometimes brand-specific. The latter may happen when a dispensary wants to promote a brand partner. It may be a new brand that they’re carrying.

Here are a few examples. These are half-off promos, which are similar to buy-one-get-one. And one of them is a ‘buy two get one for a dollar’, which is also a variation.

BOGO 1/2 OFF Concentrate, Edible or Topical of your choice! | Colorado Springs | Green Farms

All Edibles BOGO 50% off | Denver | The Lodge Cannabis - Federal Blvd

Buy 2 Get 1 for $1 on ALL Smokiez Gummies! | Denver | Police and Thieves - Harrison

BOGO Wax and Concentrates on Cannasaver

Dabbing wax is hugely popular because of the stratospheric highs. For those who use cannabis medically, the benefits are stronger with concentrates.

Consequently, any dedicated dabber is going to be interested in wax deals.

Popular waxes include shatter, budder, rosin, and resin. There’s also live resin and live rosin

They are usually used in dab rigs. Rigs are like bongs but with a heated nail instead of an herb bowl. The concentrate is placed on the nail. There it vaporizes and you breathe it in.

And there are concentrate oil cartridges for vaping. Vape carts screw onto 510-threaded battery bases. They are easy to use. Just press a button and puff away.

So, what kind of concentrate freebies can be found? Here are some cartridge and concentrate deals:

BOGO BIG BUD FARMS CARTRIDGES | Phoenix | The Superior Dispensary

BOGO 1/2 OFF Concentrate, Edible or Topical of your choice! | Colorado Springs | Green Farms

1st time penny infused preroll, 2nd time bogo shatter, wax, sugar 3rd time bogo live resin | Colorado Springs | Apothecary Farms

bogo dispensary deals

BOGO Ounces

And the more of it you have, the better.

Ounce deals abound. Buying an ounce and then being handed a second one is as lit as it gets!

Nothing that a dispensary sells isn’t a possibility for buy-one-get-one specials. They have all kinds of cannabis products that they want to move out the door. They know their customers will show up for super stoner steals. So, they are more than happy to offer some freebies.

We've discussed edibles, waxes, and flower. What other items might appear on similar specials?

Well, there are 2-for-1 prerolled joints. You can also find Kratom capsules. Sometimes, too, there are discounts on dabbing and smoking accessories like glass pipes.

And sometimes they even let you pick. Get-one-free of whatever merchandise you want. Or maybe get a 2nd one at half price. That’s pretty amazing!

But what makes it worth your time and money? We’ll give you more information about this concentrated cannabis.

What are the effects of this wonderful wax? Strong dabs mean better benefits.

And any stoner worth their salt is going to want to know if this stuff will get you high. The short answer is yes. We’ll explain in greater detail.

How does bubble hash stack up to other dabs? We’ll compare and contrast concentrates.

Cannabis consumers may wonder if you can smoke this wax by itself. Certainly, you can, but it can also boost your other bud and concentrates. Read on for more on that.

Lastly, we will help you find dispensary discounts on this concentrated cannabis.

Let’s get into it with a quick primer on this powerful pot product.

bubble hash on dab tool

Bubble Hash 101

So, what’s the story on bubble hash?

This wax is generally made with mesh bags soaked in ice water. The meshes have different-sized holes that aid in filtering trichomes. Trichomes are the tiny hairs on marijuana that contain the most THC.

As the plant matter soaks in the nested bags, it is stirred. This is called agitation. It breaks up the cannabis which filters through the mesh.

After stirring, the bags are slowly removed one at a time. The bags have smaller and smaller holes. Eventually, only the trichomes get through.

After the last bag, you end up with the final product. This is pressed and then dried.

The resulting solid varies in color depending on the degree of refinement. It can be anywhere from light yellow to dark brown.

Okay, so now what do you do with it?

Well, waxes are often dabbed. A dab rig is pretty much a bong with the bowl swapped for a nail.

The metal, glass, or ceramic spike is heated with a small hand torch. You then place your concentrate on the hot nail, where it vaporizes. The vapor is breathed in through a mouthpiece.

Now you know how it’s made. And you know what to do with it. However, what benefits does this dab wax offer?

What Does Bubble Hash Do For You?

Cannabis concentrates are hella strong. It’s literally in the name. Thus, the THC levels are impressive.

Toking pot leaf offers THC amounts into the 30-percent plus level. Weed waxes can contain between 40% to 80 % THC.

Many factors can affect the intensity of cannabinoids. Two of them are the strain strength and the amount of refinement in making the wax.

But whatever effects the source strain has will be amped up, in dabs.

Generally, marijuana is beneficial for pain and stress relief. Inflammation and nausea are also things that can be treated when you toke. Even chronic diseases like epilepsy and multiple sclerosis may respond to pot use.

Whatever weed does for you straight, waxes do even more! Stronger ganja means better benefits.

Okay, but what about the buzz from this boosted bud product?

bubble hash in container

Does Bubble Hash Get You High?

Making bubble hash extracts trichomes from cannabis plant material. These hair-like structures pack most of marijuana’s psychoactive heft. Therefore, the highs can be lofty indeed.

The more THC you smoke or vape, the higher you get. And this wax has a lot of ganja magic.

Those who enjoy this form of concentrate also note the great taste and smell. Without solvents, there’s no aftertaste. Just purified terpenes that boost the flavor and aroma.

Terpenes also enhance the benefits of the bud. That includes the trippy effects of the tetrahydrocannabinol.

So, yes, dabbing this wax will get you good and high. How does it compare to other cannabis concentrates?

Is Bubble Hash the Strongest?

There are all kinds of different kinds of dabs out there.

Shatter is the most popular. It’s what a lot of people think of when it comes to waxy weed. It’s a honey-colored solid that looks like glass.

There’s also resin and rosin. Resin is made with solvents like butane or CO2. Rosin is made with heat and pressure. There are ‘live’ versions of both that utilize buds frozen immediately after harvest.

These two range in color from golden to brown. Rosin tends to be the yellower solid.

There’s butter, budder, or badder. They’re all different names for the same dab. It’s a light yellow whipped concentrate.

So what’s the most powerful pot dabber?

Distillate crystals are the highest in THC at 99%. The other waxes will fall between 40% to 80%, as we mentioned above.

A determining factor is the source strain. If the bud used in creation was really loaded, then so will be the concentrated form.

So, bubble hash isn’t the strongest. But that doesn’t mean that it’s weak, either. It will get you stoned.

Another consideration is how to smoke it.

bubble hash closeup

Can You Smoke Bubble Hash By Itself?

Sure, dabbing this stuff solo is an option. But what else can you do?

Try bowl topping. What’s that? Put a little atop your bong or pipe bowl. Then add flame from your lighter and toke away.

You could mix it on your dab nail with another wax. This could add benefits depending on the strains involved. And it increases the psychotropic effects.

One other thing you could do is melt down some of this solid and use it to make mighty edibles.

It's really up to you.

Now, for the best part! Let’s look at saving you some money on bubble hash.

Cooking With Concentrates

Cooking With Concentrates

Posted by CANNASaver on Friday, 09 December 2022 in Canna Blog

There's no doubt that cannabis concentrates are becoming more and more popular. So it's no surprise that cooking with marijuana concentrates is quickly becoming one of the best ways to get creative and make unique edible recipes.

And what's more fun than adding a new ingredient to your canna-cooking repertoire?

Cannabis concentrates come in a variety of forms; from BHO wax to live resin and to even more refined cannabis extracts.

Looking to take your favorite snacks, desserts and entrees to the next level?

Pow! Try adding a bit of concentrate

Cooking with concentrates will not only enhance the edible’s flavor but will also increase overall potency. These kinds of edibles provide you with more control over customizing cannabinoid levels for an experience catered to how you like your high.

Interested in getting your edible cooking up to another level? Cannasaver has your back.

Are There Benefits To Using Concentrates For Edibles?

Let’s look at the benefits of using concentrates for cooking, select the kind of concentrate to use, and look into the process for making concentrates viable for blasting your edibles into outer space.

Increased Cooking Convenience

Cannabis concentrates offer a lot of advantages over working with cannabis flower buds. They're much more convenient and easier to use, especially on a small scale. That means you don't have to cook up a whole batch of cannabutter just to make a few edibles. Instead, you can just apply the concentrate directly to whatever you're making.

Higher Edible Potency

Cannabis concentrates offer the ultimate in potency. Some edibles can feature up to 90% THC and CBD, but also provide an added boast of an array of terpenes that can be seamlessly integrated whatever you decide to cook up.

Much Less Pronounced Herbal Taste

Cannabis edibles no longer have to taste like grass! Traditional cannabis edibles brought about the unmistakable herbal flavor of weed which some don’t enjoy. Cooking with concentrates is the way for those looking to add cannabis into their favorite recipes without tasting any of the bitter green flavors in the mix.

Selecting Which Cannabis Concentrate To Use

There are a variety of cannabis products you can use to cook with, including:

  • Kief/Hash: The most traditional cannabis concentrate that can be used in sweet recipes such as Bhang, and when infused into sweeteners like maple syrup or agave.

  • RSO (Rick Simpson Oil): Specifically made to be ingested and does not need heat to feel its effects; it can easily be incorporated into raw edibles, smoothies, or soups.

  • CO2 Distillate: Distillate contains around 99% THC making it the most potent form of cannabis available - it has no terpene content and usually comes as a crystalline powder for easy incorporation into any type of edible.

  • BHO, Rosin, Live resin, Sauce, Sugar, Shatter: All of these products are great for cooking with.

  • Note - you will first have to decarboxylate these concentrates in order to bring out the delightful aroma and flavor that makes them so desirable.

baking with concentrates

Process Of Decarbing Your Concentrates

Before you start creating your delicious cannabis oil, decarboxylation (decarbing) is a must.

Decarbing activates the THCa in the concentrate to the common THC compound needed for the state of “being high”. This involves using very low temperatures, as to not burn away any of the extra cannabinoids. Knowing the optimal temperature for decarbing will ensure maximum potency and flavor, making it well worth your time and effort!

For concentrates like distillate and RSO, no decarb is required for cooking. Simply take the product and add straight into an infusing oil.

Items You’ll Need To Decarb Your Concentrate

  • Your favorite marijuana concentrate

  • A baking sheet

  • Some parchment paper

  • And, of course, your oven

The Process

The oven should be preheated to 200°F (93°C).

  • A baking sheet should be lined with parchment paper and the concentrates placed on it.

  • The concentrates need to bake for 20-25 minutes, and must be watched carefully so as not to overcook. Once they have melted down and begin bubbling, they are ready. If decarbing kief or a powdery concentrate, stirring every few minutes is recommended.

  • After baking has finished, the concentrates must then cool slightly before use.

Know How To Properly Dose Your Concentrate Edibles

Knowing the potency of your culinary creation is key. It ensures no one has an underwhelming or overwhelming experience when munching on your concentrate edibles.

Rather than having to guess about the potency, you can dial in on the approximate cannabinoid content. This helps to assure that any time you decide to cook this particular edible, there's little-to-no variation in the effects.

  • Use this formula to approximate the dose of THC in a homemade cannabis edible: Amount of concentrate [by the gram] x THC percentage x 1,000 / number of servings.

    • So, roughly if you have one gram of 80% THC cannabis oil for 10 brownies, that would be 80 mgs of THC per brownie. Which would be incredibly too potent for an absolute beginner.

    • In some cases, break the edible down a bit. Eat small amounts at first and increase as needed over a length of time. You’ll find a dose that will suit you best.

cooking at home

After Decarbing Your Concentrate

Okay, now that your cannabis concentrate is activated, here are the next steps…

Consider What Meal You’ll Be Infusing

Put some consideration into the final product when cooking with cannabis concentrates. Some of the concentrate consistencies are better suited for certain food mediums than others.

  • EX: Strong flavored concentrates such as RSO may be enjoyed much more in sweet edibles to mask the flavor.

Do some research on how flavor chemistry responds to certain concentrates. This may ultimately affect whether you like the end product or not.

  • Rick Simpson Oil (RSO) and Full-Extract cannabis oils contain the botanical essence of the whole plant, whereas BHO can have a skunky or artificial flavor depending on the kind of BHO concentrate you used.

  • Dairy fats are less stable than vegetable oils like olive oil when it comes to medicated food; MCT oil is an excellent carrier but has low smoke point so coconut or canola might be more suitable alternatives for skillet dishes.

  • Oils which contain higher saturated fat contents are a great choice for your base oil for infusing with cannabis concentrates. These include: canola, coconut, vegetable, olive, sesame, peanut, and avocado oils.

To Infuse Your Oil:

  • Add selected oil and decarbed concentrate to a double-boiler, slow cooker, or saucepan.

  • Simmer on low for 2-3 hours while keeping the temperature of the oil between 160-200ºF.

  • Let cool before adding it to any recipe.

  • Use infused oil in salad dressings and cooking pans; use infused butter as an alternative for regular butter when baking.

Medical vs Recreational Weed

Medical vs Recreational Weed

Posted by CANNASaver on Tuesday, 06 December 2022 in Canna Blog

Even if you’re new to cannabis culture, you likely know about the two kinds of legal weed.

That would be, of course, medical and recreational weed. The latter is also known as ‘adult use’

But what’s in a name? Is there any real difference between medical vs recreational weed? And if so, what are they?

How does pricing differ between prescribed and casual-use pot products? We’ll explain how pricing works around the country.

And is the quality the same? The answer to that question may surprise you.

What specifically makes medical weed medical? And is recreational ganja any good? Inquiring minds likely want to know.

And, because it’s what we do, we’ll clue you in on how to get some great cannabis deals. Because whatever kind of bud you buy, saving some money is never a bad thing.

Okay, let’s start with why there are two options for buying bud.

medical weed

Medical Marijuana vs Recreational – What’s the Difference?

Some provisioning places sell both kinds of weed. You will notice that those retailers keep them carefully separated. One side of the store will be dedicated to patients, and the other to casual shoppers.

Why must we distinguish adult use toking from therapeutic smoking? The reason is largely legal.

Not all states allow casual consumption. So, medical is the only option in some areas. Places that now allow both started with patient use first before expanding access.

Age limits also vary between the two categories of ganja. Medical is allowable for qualified individuals starting at age 18. Sometimes younger patients can get exceptions, but it varies from state to state. Recreationally, the age restriction is likely 21 and up.

The law also usually sets different limits for each kind of cannabis. In most cases, cannabis med card holders can buy and possess more marijuana.

Here are some examples of possession restrictions:

California

  • Med cardholders: can have up to eight ounces of dried marijuana, and eight grams of wax; and grow up to six mature or 12 immature marijuana plants
  • Adults over 21: can possess an ounce of dried marijuana or eight grams of concentrate, and can grow up to six plants for personal use

Colorado

  • Pot patients: two ounces of flower or concentrated cannabis is allowable; and up to six  plants
  • Adult users: okayed for an ounce of flower, eight grams of concentrates, or 800mg of edibles; can grow up to 6 cannabis plants at home

Illinois

  • Qualified patients – dry herb, edibles, and concentrates cannot exceed 500mg of total THC; plant ownership can be up to five
  • Every other adult – again, 500 milligrams of THC is the cutoff for flower, concentrates, and edibles; only med cardholders can own or grow plants

So, you have an idea of how medical and recreational can differ.

State laws also vary, so it’s best to do your research.

Also, some states do allow visitors to buy buds and other weed products with proper ID. Check carefully if you’re traveling and decide you might want to dispensary shop.

Now, is there a difference in cost?

prescription weed

Medical vs Recreational Weed: Pricing

Taxes are a big factor in the amount you spend on weed. Yes, sometimes there are some base price variances. However, taxation is the main way states differentiate between types of weed sales.

Here’s a sampling:

So, in the Mitten State, a cardholder could get a $200 top-shelf ounce. A non-patient would pay $220 for the same. Prices, by the way, are examples only, and not quotes.

Coloradans would pay $30 more an ounce without doctor certification.

Every state has its own rules regarding taxation. So, you’d have to check with local laws to be sure.

The only other thing to think about is the cost of applying for a med card. You may want to research fees in your area.

The question to ask is: Do certification costs outweigh discounts for prescription pot?

For those who require a lot of marijuana to treat chronic conditions, probably not. In that instance, getting a card will save them dough in the long run.

If recreational is more expensive, then is it better? Or is medical vastly superior because of its prescription strength?

Medical vs Recreational Weed: Quality

Is recreational weed top shelf and good quality? Yes. Is prescribed pot more potent? Sometimes.

For example, in Michigan, edibles can have up to 50mg per serving. Adult use weedy treats are limited to no more than 10mg per serving.

In Colorado, both kinds of bud consumers can have the same potency of flower. Yet when it comes to edibles, those using them medically get more.

420-friendly foodstuffs are restricted to 100mg THC per package for unlicensed tokers. But edibles for those qualified for medicinal weed can contain as much as 500mg THC per pack.

In some cases, there may be less THC but more CBD in pot for patients. But in many areas, there is no potency difference - just variances in cost and quantity.

Okay, we’ve covered the law, pricing, and quality. Seems like there’s only one thing left. How can you save some cash on your cannabis shopping?

Concentrated cannabis is cool! Dabbing has become a stoner phenomenon because the highs are stratospheric! But can you make your own weed wax for dabbing? Yes, yes you can!

Making marijuana concentrates is very doable. It’s not necessarily the simplest thing to do. But if you can follow a cooking recipe, then the instructions won’t be too hard.

In fact, we’ll give you a step-by-step guide to getting from leaf to wax. We’ll make it as easy as possible.

What equipment and supplies will you need to create do-it-yourself dabs? We’ll look at the process and give you some pointers.

And, you’ll learn about how much wax you can expect from an ounce of flower.

Lastly, we’ll show you how to save big on weed to make your wax with. Plus, you’ll see where you can get discounts on commercial cannabis concentrates. That is if you decide you’d prefer to purchase. Not everyone is cut out to make their own.

Want to see what wax making is all about? Even if you’re skeptical, read on.

homemade weed wax

Can You Really Make Weed Wax at Home?

Yes, you totally can make your own weed wax. We promise.

You don’t need a factory or special gear. You can create homemade concentrates with common kitchen equipment. If you don’t have everything you need, none of it is difficult to obtain.

What kinds of contraptions do you need to begin creating concentrates?

We’re talking about things like cheesecloth and parchment paper. Water, ice, and a bucket are things that most people have. If you don’t have a flat iron, then most department stores carry them.

If you have the knowledge, some time, and a little patience, then superstrength pot can be yours.

Let’s take a look at the chemistry of the process.

What Chemicals Are Used to Make Dabs?

You can create your own cannabis dabs with or without solvents.

Solvents are things like butane. This one in particular can be dangerous. Fume build-ups are toxic and explosive.

Some recipes you may find online might call for using alcohol. That is still flammable and toxic.

Using water for extraction is a safer option.

Ice water extraction method (also known as bubble hash)

Gather your supplies. You will need:

  • Your weed
  • Around 10 pounds of ice
  • A couple of 5-gallon buckets
  • A gallon of purified water
  • Cheesecloth
  • Something to stir with – a spoon or a stick
  • Bubble bags (These you can get online at Amazon or eBay)

Once you have all that then:

  1. The bubble bags need to be layered in the buckets, about three or four deep. They will filter particulates from smallest to largest. The smaller screens have a smaller number on them.
  2. Add 3-4 ounces of the grass of your choice.
  3. Half a bag of ice gets poured over the plant matter.
  4. Then, pour in eight cups of purified water.
  5. Stir all together thoroughly for 15 or 20 minutes.
  6. Now leave it set for about half an hour.
  7. After 30 minutes, lift out the first bubble bag. The water will drain out. You can also wring out any remaining water.
  8. Then put that bag to the side.
  9. The second bubble bag comes out next. There will be sludgy material at the bottom that can be scooped or scraped out onto the cheesecloth.
  10. Next, remove the third bubble bag.
  11. After it’s drained, scoop more wax onto the cheesecloth.
  12. Repeat the process until the last bag is done.
  13. Use the folded cheesecloth to press out any remaining water.
  14. The wax is now ready to be dabbed. Place in a resealable jar and store in a cool, dark place for preservation.

Now, this all might seem like too much work. Well, there is one more super simple way to create your own cannabis concentrate.

weed wax

How Do You Make Weed Wax Easy?

This recipe is about as basic as it gets.

What do you need?

  • Your weed (Always the number one ingredient!)
  • A flat iron (or hair straightener works well, too)
  • A pair of oven mitts
  • A spoon
  • Some parchment paper

What do you do with all of this?

  1. The flat iron (or hair straightener) has to be heated to 250 - 300°F. Be careful about touching any hot surface. Don’t set the device on or near anything flammable.
  2. Grind or break up a couple of grams worth of weed. You can also use kief.
  3. Now fold your parchment paper in half.
  4. Put some weed in the middle of the paper. Now fold again.
  5. With oven mitts on, use the flat iron (or hair straightener) to iron the parchment paper. You must press down while doing so.
  6. After several minutes, scrape off the waxy weed from inside the paper with the spoon.
  7. Store your cannabis concentrate on the paper in an airtight container or baggy. Place the container in the freezer to keep it fresher for longer.

So, how much ganja does all this take?

Well, it can be a little or a lot. If you have a lot of premium pot, you can make a load of wax.

weed wax close up

How Much Wax Does an Ounce of Bud Make?

The answer is between 2 -7 grams from an ounce of weed. Higher-quality weed is obviously going to yield superior dabs.

You can increase your yield when making wax by repetition. Run plant matter through the various filters multiple times. This ensures you’re not wasting any cannabinoids.

Heat-pressing kief, instead of leaf, will yield some powerful waxes.

So, maybe you want to try to make your own wax. Or maybe it’s not for you.

Either way, we can help you save cash on your cannabis concentrate shopping.

How Can Cannasaver Help You Save?

Do you want to get discounts on ganja for making dabs? We can lead you to ounce deals on flower.

Or if you just want to buy any of the variety of dispensary weed waxes, we can help. Premade dabs can be had for a reasonable price.

Either way you want to go, use Cannasaver to find weed coupons for all of your toking needs.

To find the best bud bargains use the search box on the upper left. Type in whatever you’re interested in. Then you’ll get a list of relevant savings.

There’s a map icon that you can click. It will allow you to choose your geographic location. That refines the results to the provisioning places closest to you.

California Weed Coupons

California Weed Coupons

Posted by CANNASaver on Thursday, 01 December 2022 in Canna Blog

Unimaginably huge amounts of people live in or visit California. And a sizeable portion of those residents and tourists smoke weed. Therefore, the West Coast state has a thriving cannabis industry.

There are a gazillion places to get good ganja goods throughout the state. Dispensaries have popped up all over the place. And with increased competition comes competitive pot pricing.

Smart stoners know that there are also deals to be found on smoking and vaping supplies. Provisioning places will bend over backward to bring in more customers. That means discounts and even freebies for those who know how to find them.

One way to bargain shop for buds and more is to use weed coupons. These are just like the clip-and-save coupons in your weekly grocery flyer. That means they will help you save when you spend. If you’re shopping for cannabis anyway, why not get the most marijuana for your money?

Finally, if you’re looking for savings, we’ll show you where to find them. Hint: you won’t have to go far. Let’s just say you’re on the right website.

So, you have some cash in your pocket and you want to pot shop. Where can you go to get some supply for your stash?

california weed dispensary

California Dispensary Pricing

Finding a fit place to get some ganja green isn’t too difficult in one of the biggest states in the union. After medical marijuana was legalized in 1996, dispensaries sprang up in major cities. Then after recreational weed was legislated in 2016, they spread even faster.

Several factors influence. Location is one. More popular areas may make you pay more. The popularity of particular strains may be another. And, as with every other retail operation, supply can be a concern.

That said, let’s take a look at some sample pot prices throughout the state. We’ll focus on three common cannabis purchases. Those would be prerolls, oil cartridges, and an eighth of flower.

How much do premade joints cost around California? Firehaus in Los Angelos offers $10 eighth-of-an-ounce doobies.  In Oakland, Harborside dispensary has an $18 1-gram preroll. And in San Diego, Body and Mind pot shop will sell you much the same for as low as $5 for a 1g joint

Okay, what about carts? Well, Coastal in West Los Angelos has a 1g cart for $17.50. Over in San Francisco, Barbary Coast provisioning center offers a gram cart for $35. Whereas, in Sacramento, kolas gives a 1g cartridge for $22.99.

If you want some lit lettuce then it’ll cost you $50 for 1/8th ounce at Happy Leaf Collective. The same amount of smoke in San Jose at Purple Lotus would run $24.99. And in Fresno, a dispensary called The Artist Tree will spot you an eighth of flower for $14.

Obviously, prices are kind of all over the place. California is a huge state. However, there are ways to save, if you’re a shrewd stoner.

How to Save Money on Weed Like a Boss

With so many places to pick up some pot, there’s lots of competition. That means your local marijuana mart is gonna bend over backward to bring in customers. What are some of the ways they work to attract you and other customers?

For first-time shoppers, many stoner stores will offer savings. Examples include freebies or major discounts. So, you might get a bonus eighth of weed or some percentage off your total purchase.

Call ahead to your friendly neighborhood cannabis retail outlet. Ask what they offer newbies.

Special days are also good for deals. Obviously, 4/20 is a good day to get deals because that day is synonymous with being a pothead. 7/10 is another high holiday, ‘710’ being ‘oil’ upside down.

There are, of course, regular holidays. Like any retailer, provisioning centers likely have 4th of July or Christmas promotions. Name any popular holiday, and you will probably be able to save on your ganja groceries.

So, whether you want some fine flower or a handful of carts, certain dates are ideal for bargains.

Build-your-own bud bundle specials are also something dispensaries offer their customers. These create-your-own combo deals could be mix-and-match ounces or assorted vape cartridges.

Basically, they are win-win scenarios. Pot palaces get to offload some inventory. Buyers may get to sample new strains inexpensively. What’s not to love?

And a very significant way cannabis customers can save big is with weed coupons. What are these all about?

coupons

How Weed Coupons Work

Most people have used clip-and-save vouchers at the grocery store. Manufacturer food coupons have been around for a long time. Generally, they offer some percentage off from an item’s cost. Sometimes they are a discount from the total purchase.

BOGO – or ‘buy one get one free’ – is also a popular promotion.

Weed coupons work just the same way as other retail vouchers. But they’re obviously geared toward cannabis customers. For example, you can have ounce, medical, or recreational deals. Then there are specials on wax concentrates and vape supplies. Or you may find specials on prerolls.

What other kinds of weed steals are there? For those that don’t want to smoke, there are edible coupons. First-time customers can cyber-clip savings designed for newbies. Seniors also can find savings.

Okay, so you can see that there are many kinds of cannabis coupons. But where do you find these stoner savings slips? We saved the best part for last.

Why Cannasaver is the Go-To Website for California Weed Coupons

If you’re here, then you know or are learning that Cannasaver is all about dispensary discount deals. No other site can compare when it comes to cannabis coupon savings. It’s literally part of our name – ‘canna’ + ‘saver’.

What do you get the stoners in your life when you’re present-hunting?

What a silly question!

You get them weed gifts, of course!

Maybe you wanna give someone special some cannabis for Christmas. Or, perhaps you are thinking about buying a new bong for a bud’s birthday. Pot presents for your pals and loved ones are perfect for anyone mad about marijuana.

So, when would you want to get weed gifts? First, there are several commonly recognized holidays throughout the year. Second, there are even a couple of dates that are special to stoners. We’ll look at lit dates to donate flowers, vapes, or other paraphernalia.

Further, we’ll help you with a few ideas on what to get the ganja guy or girl in your life. There are all kinds of cannabis products. Many of them would make perfect tokens of your affection. Besides, they might also share some with you!

Finally, we’ll show you how to save some cash when buying stoner stuff for yourself or someone else. You may have a lot of folks to shop for, so getting in on good ganja deals will help. In fact, the ideal place to get in on amazing discounts is closer than you think!

Let’s start by discussing special dates when you might want to gift someone some weed.

What Are Good Occasions for Weed Gifts?

Is it beginning to look a lot like Christmas? Need something dank to stuff a stoner’s stocking?

Maybe you celebrate some other end-of-year holiday. Perhaps you wanna pick up some pot for a New Year’s Eve bring-your-own-bud-and-share party.

Whatever you celebrate, you may want to exchange tokens of affection with loved ones.

About a quarter of the way through the year is marijuana’s own high holiday. We are taking about 4/20. That particular day in April was inspired by the old-school code “420”.

Back in the 1970s, some tokers would get together at 4:20 in the afternoon. That time became the code word that led to the annual celebration of all things cannabis.

Then, as concentrates became more popular, a second high holiday was proclaimed. That would be 7/10 or “710”, which is “OIL” upside down. Someone likely came up with that after a righteous dab hit.

Just before the date commemorating cannabis concentrates comes July 4th. Certainly, Independence Day is a day of fun and frivolity. If you do add some smoking down to the day, you probably shouldn’t include launching fireworks. But watching them high is a definite delight.

Sharing something, like fireworks, with a friend is a gift in itself. And handing someone some hash would add even more gratitude to Thanksgiving. Holidays are just better when weed is shared.

Any day, special or not, is a good day to give someone a little ganja. But what kinds of pot products make the best gifts?

What Are Some Good Weed Gift Ideas?

Not everyone is very creative when it comes to what to get someone else. No worries! Here are a few ideas on what to get the toker or vaper on your giving list.

Flower/Bud

It’s easy to give some grass. Buy a baggy – they come in eighths, quarters, halves, and full ounces. Or get them a preroll or, better yet, several. Some higher-end prerolls are dipped in kief. Those will cost a bit more, so be sure you really like them!

And you can get some good deals on buying buds. Ounce deals abound, so you can save some dough while giving nugs. That’s a weedy win-win!

There are even buy-one-get-one ounces. Buying bulk buds make sense if you plan on doing a lot of gifting.

Here are a few sample flower deals to consider:

FREE Select 1/8th with purchase of Mohave Reserve 1/8th Jar | Bullhead City | Debbie's Dispensary

$100.07 OUNCE of FLOWER | Denver | The Stone

$55 ounces (select) | Englewood | Lucy Sky Cannabis Boutique - Federal

OZ deals starts $40 - $69 - $79 | Denver | The Lodge Cannabis - Federal Blvd

Brand New Pipe/Bong

What good is getting lettuce if you don’t have anything to smoke it with?

Pipes can be really inexpensive. They can be made out of glass, metal, or silicone. You can even find wooden ones.

They are fairly simple. There’s a bowl, a stem, and a mouthpiece. A screen goes in the bowl. You put weed on the screen in the bowl. You light the weed and smoke.

They are basic stoner equipment, and nobody ever has enough of them. Some are elaborate and expensive. Many are pretty cheap; hence they make great gifts.

Want some pipe and paraphernalia discounts? Below are a couple for your consideration:

15% off any Paraphernalia item | Trinidad | Elevate 6010

20% OFF All Glass and Hookah Purchases Over $25 | Maricopa | The Smoker's Edge

And you can buy a piece online at shops like GrassCity:

Puff Puff Pass Hand Pipe | 4 Inch

Currently $17.99 (price subject to change)

Bongs are another great idea for bud enthusiasts. They are like bigger pipes with water in them. The water adds additional filtration for a smoother smoke.

Bongs are significantly more expensive than pipes. But the upside is they can easily be converted to dab rigs. All you gotta do is swap the bowl for a nail. Getting someone a nail for conversion to a dab rig is another potential present.

Concentrates are smoked by heating the nail and then adding wax. The concentrate immediately melts and vaporizes. Then you breathe in the powerful fumes.

Here is a good example of a bong for sale at the Smoke Cartel website:

Beaker Ice Bong

Currently $45.49 (price subject to change)

Disposable Vape or Vaporizer Cartridges

Vape pens are just incredibly convenient. They fit easily in a purse or pocket. That makes them both portable and discreet.

And they come with options. Disposable pens provide plenty of puffs and then can be tossed. 510-threaded cartridges can be used and swapped out on a favorite vaping device.

We found you some dispensary deals on vapes and carts:

Two 1000Mg Pentagon Cartridges For $50 | Dumont | Strawberry Fields - Downieville

30% Off Eureka 500mg Disposables | Arvada | Berkeley Dispensary

BOGO $1 Evolab 1000mg Disposable | Denver | Lowell Gardens

Goldwater 1000mg Cartridge $18 OTD | Lakewood | Golden Meds - Youngfield

Rolling Tray and Papers

Rolling your own doobies never goes out of style. Sure, you can buy premade joints, but a hand-rolled toking stick is something special.

For those who enjoy doing it themselves, a rolling tray and some papers are a perfect presenting idea.

Check out this RAW Rolling Tray and Papers kit on Amazon:

Description automatically generated

RAW Rolling Tray Combo Includes Tray, 1 1/4 Rolling Papers, Original Tips, and RAW 79mm Rolling Machine and American Rolling Club Tube (Small)

Currently $13.99 (price subject to change)

Weed Wearables

Maybe someone on your gifting list would like a shirt or sweater with a marijuana leaf displayed. They just might be the type to fly their nug freak flag. You can pick up a wearable print for them.

This Etsy “Plant Manager” T-shirt is a cool idea:

Cannabis Smoker Shirt

Currently $18.78 (price subject to change)

Obviously, there are all kinds of cannabis items you can give. The only limit is your imagination!

Now, Christmas presents, and other special tokens can get expensive. Some people may want to buy for a bunch of different people. Others may just have a tight budget.

Fortunately, you can buy and save at the same time!

How to Smoke Live Resin

How to Smoke Live Resin

Posted by CANNASaver on Wednesday, 30 November 2022 in Canna Blog

Many sophisticated stoners like to take their high to the next level. That’s why weed concentrates are so popular. They are prized because they get you good and buzzed and have powerful effects.

One of the most popular waxes around is live resin. This concentrated form of cannabis is certified fresh. That means that it’s made from frozen marijuana flower that had just been harvested. The production process preserves cannabinoids and trichomes for full-bodied benefits.

Then the final product is smoked or vaped to unleash the powerful marijuana magic. Medical patients get potent relief for their symptoms. Recreational dabbers love the tremendous trip.

What’s the best way to enjoy this excellent wax? And how long do the effects last? We’re going to give you the lowdown so you can get hella high.

We’ll also delve into the cost at your local dispensary.  After discussing price, we’ll even show you how to save significantly when you buy some. You’re in exactly the right place to get great deals on your dab wax.

And now, it's time for a closer look at this incredible concentrate.

live resin on marijuana leaf

What is Live Resin?

Okay, you may have noticed that there is both resin and live resin. So, what’s the difference?

Resin refers to wax made with dried buds. Again, the live version uses fresh flower. The idea is that the newly harvested nugs have better flavor and will give stronger benefits.

To add to the confusion, there’s also rosin and live rosin. How do they compare to the resins, other than similar spelling?

The live form of rosin also emphasizes the freshness of the source material. Otherwise, rosin is produced without any solvents. However, resin processing extracts cannabinoids and terpenes using hydrocarbon solvents.

Other weed waxes include shatter, budder, sugar, and crumble. What are these all about?

  • Shatter is a glassy, amber-colored cannabis concentrate. It’s made by combining pot plant matter and solvents.
  • Budder, sometimes called butter, is a whipped wax. It kind of has the consistency of cake batter. Hence it is also known as badder.
  • Sugar is obviously somewhat granular. It is akin to butane hash oil or BHO
  • Crumble is, well, crumbly. This dabbing wax is light yellow to amber in color. Creating it combines freezing and solvent-based extraction.

Maybe all these marijuana dab materials seem confusing, but no need to worry. A little research goes a long way. You’ll find that live resin is both similar to and different from its concentrated cousins.

One important detail is how it’s made.

How is Live Resin Made?

The important thing to keep in mind is that this wonderful wax is pure and potent. That’s the result of culling the cannabis flower at peak harvest time. Then it is quickly flash-frozen to keep the ganja goodness locked in.

The super-fast freezing process utilizes liquid nitrogen or dry ice. The pure pot is kept frozen until processing time. Even through the extraction, everything is kept cool.

In a multi-chambered machine, solvents like butane are used to remove crucial chemicals. Water then washes away the hydrocarbon, leaving only the extract.

The final product is more brown-hued or amber than yellow. It shares a granular texture with sugar.

Once you have the wax, what do you do with it?

How Do You Smoke Live Resin?

Once you’ve bought yourself a bit of this live sauce, the next step is to enjoy smoking or dabbing some.

Using a dab rig is the most common way to burn this concentrate. And it’s a simple operation.

First, you use a torch to heat the nail on the piece. Once it’s hot enough, then you add your dab.

Just scoop some with an elongated tool and place it on a heated nail. The golden solid evaporates quickly. Then you just breathe in the fumes through the mouthpiece.

You can also put some in with leaf in your bong or pipe. Then just apply your lighter. It’s called bowl topping.

The draw can be kinda harsh this way. But the herb and the terpy wax will combine for a stratospheric high.

Decarbing some of this wax to add to butter or oil to make an edible is also a possibility.

There are cartridges of this spectacular extract, too.

The intensity of the THC will be formidable, no matter which way you use it.

How about that high? How long can you expect to stay aloft? How long will the wax stay powerfully potent?

How Long Does Live Resin Last?

Most concentrates pack a punch. That’s because they have a lot of THC. In fact, that’s what concentrated weed is all about.

So the effects are understandably strong.  They last anywhere from one to three hours before they fade.

Insofar as how long the sticky stuff itself will last, that does depend on how you store it. Proper storage is very important

If kept in a cool, dark place, extracts can last a year or longer. You can even put them in the fridge or freezer if you use airtight containers. Moisture can encourage the growth of molds that make your marijuana mangy. But a resealable jar will keep out the dampness and lock in freshness.

Keeping your wax smokable helps keep costs down. That means you get more enjoyment for your money.

What is the average price for this powerful form of pot?

live resin close up

How Much Does Live Resin Cost?

So, if you want some of this dab stuff, where can you get it?  And how much does it cost?

Let’s take a look at some representative prices.

At the Local Product of Colorado dispensary in Denver, the going rate is $35 for a gram. Over in Glendale, Arizona – at Oasis provisioning centera gram is $45. And then there’s Kalamazoo, Michigan’s Urban Gardens selling the same for $40.

That should give you an idea of the general cost. But can you save some bud bucks on this weed wax? Why, yes, you can.

California Weed Delivery

California Weed Delivery

Posted by CANNASaver on Tuesday, 29 November 2022 in Canna Blog

Many people have ordered food or groceries through the likes of GrubHub or DoorDash. Or, you can get groceries brought to your home by Instacart. Weed delivery (in California) works in much the same way.

Since 2019, Californians could get their ganja goods without leaving their personal space. How cool is that?

Several states that have legalized medical or recreational marijuana also allow delivery services. It’s a nice convenience for cannabis customers.

Legally, online stoner shopping has the same restrictions as in-person pot pickup. So, what are the laws in the West Coast’s biggest state? We’ll give you a brief overview below.

And how do you go about ordering your sesh supplies? It’s pretty simple. We’ll show you how.

Because you’re here on Cannasaver, you may wonder about dank discounts and how they apply. Before we go, we’ll explain how bud bargains work with getting your greens delivered.

If you live in, work in, or visit Cali, then this service should have some appeal. Why is getting delivery such a good deal for weed shoppers of every stripe?

Let’s take a look, shall we?

weed delivery in california

What Does Weed Delivery Mean for California Cannabis Customers?

Dispensaries first opened in this state in 1996 when medical marijuana was legalized. Provisioning places further multiplied once recreational toking became legal in 2016. But it took until 2018 before consumers could order online and get ganja dropped off at their homes.

So, why shop stoner supplies this way? There are lots of reasons folks might prefer to have their buds brought directly to them.

For one thing, you don’t have to deal with traffic or crowds if the weed comes to you.

Those who may be disabled likely find it easier to have their marijuana meds delivered. Online ordering means not having to worry about accessibility. Though dispensaries ought to have ramps, there is less worry, with drop-off.

Maybe you’re having a party with friends and ran out of weed. Oh no! But wait, just pick up the phone or go online and let the pot come to you. You now don’t have to leave the festivities to resupply!

Whatever reason you have for not wanting to shop in person, weed delivery means you don’t have to. This is a big plus for consumers. Convenience is king.

This service also benefits sellers. First of all, delivery-only dispensaries have less overhead than brick-and-mortar stores. After all, they are without the expense of a big building. That may also ease the pocketbooks of their customers.

Physical provisioning centers sometimes have their cannabis couriers to bring you your bud. Some started dropping off during the Covid pandemic lockdown. That was because customers couldn’t come to dispensaries. Now, this gives bud businesses an extra service to offer.

So, how does delivering weed work under the law for buyers and sellers?

weed from delivery

California Weed Laws

When it comes to having weed delivered versus buying it in a dispensary, the law is largely the same. That is, there are the same requirements for cannabis purchasing and possession. And what are they?

Basically,  for recreational tokers, you must be 21 or older to have, purchase, or use pot. Medical users can be as young as 18.

Casual possession is limited to 28.5 grams of ganja and 8 grams of concentrates. However, med card holders get to buy up to eight total ounces of cannabis.

And out-of-state stoners can buy in California, too. If they have a med card from another state, it will suffice. Otherwise, any state ID that proves you are 21 years old will qualify you for buying marijuana.

There are no further consumer stipulations. However, suppliers have their own rules and considerations.

2018 state law allowed commercial cannabis to be delivered to any non-government address. That’s even to areas that don’t allow bud businesses in their jurisdiction.

However, there may still be local limits on time, place, and how stoner supplies are delivered. This may also include hours of operation. So, cannabis companies have to be aware of ordinances in their area.

Keeping all of this in mind, let’s discuss how the process goes down.

delivering weed in california

How Does California Weed Delivery Work?

Okay, you have a need for more weed. And you know of a place that delivers. What’s next?

Here’s what online ordering is like:

  • First, either go to the dispensary’s website or phone them. Even if you order over the phone, you’ll need a menu of some kind. Usually, that’s online, but some places do publish a print version. Just make sure it’s up to date.
  • Next, select the items you want to purchase. Online forms will likely give you a subtotal as you add to your virtual shopping cart. With phone orders, you may need to verbally request updates on the cost.
  • Complete your order. At this time, because of banking restrictions, payment will be cash upon delivery. There is some movement towards allowing the use of debit cards, but generally, you need paper money.

Also, be aware that most places charge a nominal fee for delivering your ganja goods. That charge tends to be around $5 to $10.

There are also likely state and local taxes

  • Then you wait for a knock on the door. It is customary to tip your driver. 15% is a good average.

That’s about it – at least for the shopping experience.

There is however one other area you should know about. That would be bodacious bud bargains.

How Can You Save on California Weed Through Cannasaver?

Our site is a one-stop search center for online and offline cannabis coupons. If you’re looking for dank deals, then you’re in the right place.

You can use the rectangular search box in the upper right of every page to find the stoner steals you want. Just enter the search terms and click. Or use the drop-down menus next to the search box.

There are even a few combo pick-up and delivery places like Firehaus in Los Angeles. You may want to consider them for your pot needs.

Moldy Weed vs Trichomes

Moldy Weed vs Trichomes

Posted by CANNASaver on Sunday, 13 November 2022 in Canna Blog

So you've been eyeing that fat nug of weed, and it's looking too good to pass up! But wait a second—how long has that been sitting there? Could the bud be moldy?

Keeping moldy weed out of your cannabis stash is no joke. Seeing mold on your cannabis is a total buzzkill. But moldy weed isn't always easy to detect the way it is with things like bread or cheese.

Luckily, moldy weed isn't hard to spot if you know what to look for.

Remember, you want trichomes. Trichomes are the crystals that give marijuana its unique aroma. They are also translucent/light yellow, have a snowflake-like appearance, and appear sparkly under a magnifying glass.

In contrast, mold often appears as white or grey spots on the buds and leaves an unmistakable musty odor - yuck! Mold itself is usually white or light green and clusters together with a fuzzy look.

If your cannabis has mold on it, don’t smoke it!

You would think mold stands out easily against the colorful glare of trichomes that cannabis buds are covered in, but mold can oftentimes disguise itself as just another part of the nug.

So, what are trichomes? What causes moldy weed? How can moldy weed be prevented?

Let’s look…

what trichomes on weed look like

A Closer Look at Trichomes

Have you ever noticed the little shiny amber crystals that cover your buds?

These little guys are trichomes, making them one of the most important structures on cannabis plants. When it comes to cannabis, trichomes are the stuff of legends!

Named after the Greek word for “growth of hair”, trichomes are shiny, sticky crystals that form on cannabis flower. These trichomes are responsible for producing the plant's therapeutic and psychoactive effects

Not only do they help create the notorious cannabinoids we've come to know and love, but they also protect the plant from herbivores, pests, and UV rays.

What Causes Mold On Marijuana?

Cannabis users know that moldy weed is to be avoided at all costs.

Mold is a fungus that can affect both indoor and outdoor cannabis crops in various environments and conditions.

Several factors can increase the risk of mold growth on cannabis:

  • Oxygen - Like many organisms, mold needs oxygen to survive.
  • High Humidity - When the humidity around your cannabis plant passes a specific level (63%), mold can begin to develop. All it needs is that dampness and a touch of oxygen.
  • Lack Of Airflow - Mold spores flourish in close conditions with low air intake. It's crucial for air out your buds at least once a day to allow fresh oxygen to replace stale oxygen.

what moldy weed looks like

What Does Moldy Weed Look Like

At their absolute best, quality buds will shine with trichomes. However, mold is not shiny and can take on a range of appearances.

Moldy cannabis usually has a grayish-white coating. White powder, dark fuzzy chunks, or black indicate mold.

Mold also has a kind of foul odor to it. Mold has a musty smell to it. Often referred to as a wet hay smell. Moldy weed can also have a mildewy smell.

If you are not immediately alerted to the mold by look or by smell, you may be able to spot it by taste.

What Does Moldy Weed Taste Like?

Well, quite simply, it tastes like mold. Not an inviting taste.

So you can smoke moldy weed? Let’s just say you can, but I wouldn’t.

Though smoking moldy weed most likely won't kill you, it doesn’t produce amazing results worth going through such as extreme coughing, vomiting, or nausea.

In some cases, if you are allergic to mold, you could wind up with irritation of your sinuses/lungs and experience symptoms of wheezing, sinus pain, congestion, and/or drainage.

The two most common mold types on marijuana include:

  • Botrytis Cinerea (a.k.a. bud rot)
  • Aspergillus

Bud rot can lead to health issues such as lung damage.

Inhaling aspergillus can cause infection, aspergilloma (ranging from cough to severe fatigue to bleeding airway), and even invasive pulmonary aspergillosis, which can be fatal if not treated properly.

How To Tell The Difference Between Trichomes and Mold

There are a few ways to tell the difference, when you take a closer look...

Examine Your Cannabis, Take A Detailed Look

Taking a good eyeballing of your weed will be the easiest way to determine whether your cannabis is moldy.

When the cannabis is at its prime, the bud should be shrouded in spindly, sparkling trichomes.

Mold can appear to look like cobwebs left in the bud; having a cotton-like webbing of gray or white color.

Trust Your Nose

The plant’s terpenes give it the particular fragrance it maintains throughout its lifetime. Cannabis strains have a wide range of scents, including pepper, spice, citrus, fruit, or pine.

Research the strain you are buying to check whether it has the 'right' smell.

The Taste Test

Ideally, you will actually want to determine whether your weed is moldy before doing a taste test.

Great quality cannabis offers a smooth and easy-going vibe whereas moldy marijuana tastes incredibly harsh to the lungs leaving you with a cough fit which sometimes can last a while.

Tools To Help Determine Quality Of Buds

Cannabis consumers can use low-powered microscopes to check for mold (which tend to be cheap online).

Additionally, Black lights can assist with uncovering mold spores in your bud. Most mold shines a creepy green when illuminated by a dark light, making the mold much more straightforward to recognize.

How to Prevent Mold on Marijuana

Here are a few ways to make sure you don't get moldy weed...

Use The Best Container

Glass containers with a water/air proof seal are the best approach if you have any desire to keep your cannabis mold-free.

Glass Mason jars and comparable glass jars assist with restricting your cannabis’ exposure to oxygen and dampness.

No Freezer or Refrigerator

The temperatures are way too low, and the open exposure to damp conditions can bring about mold.

The best temperature to store marijuana is 77°F.

Watch Out For Humidity

Marijuana is best kept at a general humidity level of 59-6%. Any higher and you risk catching too much dampness and developing mold.

Adding a Humidity pack to your cannabis container can definitely help. They are pretty cheap and last several months.
