420 Friendly Colorado

Posted by CANNASaver on Wednesday, 14 April 2021 in Canna Blog - Latest News

April is here and weed lovers everywhere are getting ready for 420, which is arguably every stoner's favorite time of day, and/or year.

The phrase “420” has become synonymous with cannabis culture and with marijuana users all over the world. Cannabis enthusiasts usually like to smoke at the time of 4:20 or they use the term to refer to April 20th, the time of year cannabis-centered events and celebrations take place globally. April 20th is also known as “marijuana’s biggest holiday.”

420 is celebrated all over the world, but it is especially loved here in Colorado. With 420 just around the corner, locals and visitors are getting ready to celebrate marijuana for all its euphoric and therapeutic properties.

It’s important to note current health and social distancing protocols, as 420 celebrations might look a little different this year. Remember to be mindful of your surroundings and the safety protocols that are set in place, so everyone can have a safe 420.

Colorado, The 420 Epicenter

When thinking about 420-friendly places, you can’t help automatically think about Colorado. The state, being the first in America to legalize medical and recreational cannabis, is one of the largest cannabis hubs in the country, making it a great place for marijuana tourism and 420 events.

Colorado has been the home base for 420 celebrations and activities since 2014. Every April you’ll find numerous events that cater specifically to the cannabis community. This year, cannabis lovers are forced to celebrate a little differently but you can still expect there to be celebrations all over the state and in Denver.

In pre-pandemic times, dozens of festivals and major events take place in Denver and all over Colorado. The Mile High 420 Festival is one of the most popular and brings approximately 50,000 people to Civic Center Park. The festival includes vendors, music, and entertainment. Big-name artists like Lil Jon and Jermain Dupri have even made appearances. The festival is gearing up to return in 2022.

420 is not just limited to festivals, there is an endless list of cannabis cantered activities to partake in. Denver and Colorado are home to over 500 types of dispensaries and grow-ops.

Additionally, cannabis-centered tours are a great way to immerse yourself in all things cannabis, you can even learn more about your favorite strains and how they’re grown and cultivated while offering a safe and socially distanced experience.

What Does 420-Friendly Mean?

Generally, if a place or business is 420-friendly - it means that the person or place is accepting of marijuana users. It’s important to distinguish 420-friendly spots in Colorado from others because there’s still a slight taboo around marijuana consumption, so it’s best to be mindful of the places and people you encounter and the rules surrounding marijuana.

With progressive marijuana laws continuing to roll out, 420-friendly places are emerging all over the state and country - allowing cannabis users to consume their beloved plant with minimal discretion.

If you are someone with a medical marijuana card, the circumstances are a little different. It’s important to check in with your hotel or accommodation to see if they can provide you with a smoking room or a designated smoking area.

420-Friendly Accommodations in Colorado

In Colorado, marijuana laws allow hotels and private rental properties such as Airbnbs to individually decide if guests are allowed to consume marijuana on the property.

Many chain hotels are smoke-free, which means any type of smoking, whether tobacco or marijuana. Additionally, smoking/vaping cannabis is not permitted anywhere smoking is banned.

If you find a smoke-friendly hotel, they can accommodate your smoking needs with designated smoking areas or outdoor amenities such as patios and balconies.

Bud and Breakfasts is another option for those looking for 420-friendly accommodations. These are safe and legal accommodations for travelers who also happen to enjoy marijuana and want to do so openly on their trip. Some 420-friendly bnb’s even offering activities centered around cannabis, such as paint nights or cooking with cannabis classes.

Other accommodations allow you to smoke openly with minimal discretion like 420-friendly hotels. These accommodations allow visitors to consume marijuana openly..

If you want to smoke and be more discreet, it’s recommended to stick to vaping as they produce less odor than smoking from a joint, pipe, or bong.

420 Must Go On in Colorado

Despite roadblocks caused by COVID-19 this year and last, stoners all over the world are going to find their ways of celebrating. In Colorado, the options of activities and events to choose from are far from limited for both locals and visitors alike.

Maybe there's not much sharing of joints, pipes, etc, but no pandemic is stopping cannabis lovers all over the country from lighting up in celebration of the beloved plant.

Don’t forget to check out our latest deals on Cannasaver.

Happy 420!

COLORADO YTD POT REVENUES JUMP 33% WITH AUGUST SETTING NEW RECORD

According to the Colorado Department of Revenues most recently published marijuana tax report, during the first eight months of 2016, Colorado medical and adult-use marijuana hit $846 million jumping 33% from the same period last year.  According to a Pew Research Center poll, 57% of Americans say marijuana should be legal so it's easy to see why pot sales are on the rise.

In Colorado,  medical and retail marijuana is presented with a 2.9% sales tax and retail marijuana is presented with 10% special sales tax. These tax dollars recently funded a television commercial that can be found online and should be hitting a television set near you very soon.

The state is attempting to run television commercials telling parents to talk to their kids about pot. LOL!  Come on Denver, you're missing the point just like the mighty ones that funded the DARE program.  Now if you smarten up, you'll produce commercials telling kids to talk to their parents about weed!

It is amazing that children are used in the pot wars. In some sociopaths minds, saying legalizing pot will keep it out of the hands of children, is like saying there's a drought when the planet is mostly water. Do you remember being 13?  I can walk into any neighborhood and within a very short time, some teen will be able to do a drug hook up.

Not to digress, that's another topic.

$126 million in recreational cannabis sales was reported for the month of August which is said to be a new record for the state’s marijuana industry.  Rec sales were nearly $85 million of the total. That's up 43% from the same time a year ago.  It's reported that Adult-use sales jumped nearly 50% over the same period this time last year through August. The  comparison is during the first eight months of 2015.

According to a Pew Research center study poll, younger Americans are leading the shift in support of cannabis legalization, and it's no wonder. Younger Americans have grown up in favorable circumstances led by direct knowledge instead of propaganda. They have encompassed technology at a rate that propels the advent of new technologies so rapidly, last year's generation is still trying to figure out how to program their VCR while the younger generation forces expansion and growth. - Hey, didn't anybody ever tell you those VCR things are obsolete? - Lest you remember - or forget - Blockbuster Video Rental Stores? LOL!

The University of Colorado Leeds School of Business released a report that Colorado’s employment growth is meeting expectations and the economy continues to outperform the nation. The report stated that Colorado Employment is growing faster, housing is hotter and incomes are higher. Food and chemical manufacturing added 1,200 jobs between 2014 and 2015 and manufacturing as a whole added 6,100 jobs.

The legalization of marijuana is expected to continue to drive growth in retail sales and employment in Colorado and many other states as the November ballot quickly approaches.  A recent national Gallup poll showed that 58% of respondents were in favor of nationwide legalization so it easy to see where this is headed. Less alcohol related accidents and deaths is one outcome we can insure!

Be Well.

The market for flower, meanwhile, experienced only an 11% growth, which shows a consumer trend towards favoring concentrates over the more traditional flower. The data was compiled and analyzed by BDS Analytics, which gathered point-of-sale information from marijuana retailers throughout Colorado. BDS Analytics director of analytics Tom Jones expressed a belief that concentrates will continue to take up an increasingly large share of the overall marijuana market, stating, “The share of flower in dollars has dropped from 71% (of total sales) last year to 58% this year...That’s a big change, and we absolutely expect that flower will diminish to a minority share.”

Colorado Pot Featured In High Times “Strongest Strains on Earth”

ChemDog with 32.13% THC, is an indica entered by Next Harvest. High Times states that the Chem has achieved what most people thought impossible with it’s level of potency - which begs the question: How potent can a flower go in terms of producing psychoactive THC?

The Brotherhood came in second with 27.65% THC and is also an indica. It was entered by Animas Herbal Wellness Center. It’s our understanding that it’s propagated from seed and her lineage stacks up like this: (Willie’s Wonder x Grape Krush) x (Bubba ’91 x The White).

Sour Kush 60/40 with 26% THC, a hybrid came in number three. It was entered by Black Dog LED. Next is Lemon OG Haze with 26.14% THC. It’s a sativa entered by Ethos Seed Company. Ghost Train Haze was next with 27.46% THC, sativa, entered by Greenman Cannabis in Denver with the review noting, it’s a Rare Dankness–bred strain dipped slightly.

The strongest CBD strains were tested by three different labs across four separate competitions. Coming in at number 5 out of the top six CBD strains is Colorado's The White entered by Green Grass Central City, expressing 16.57% CBD with 0.67% THC. The sixth strongest CBD strain AC/DC entered by Emerald Triangle Genetics came in expressing 15.4% CBD with 0.8% THC.

The top CBD strain, Cannatonic, entered by IDK Farms topped out at an amazing 20.8% CBD with 0.8% THC. The second highest strain was CBD OG entered by C.R.A.F.T. expressing 19.5% CBD with a fairly high level of THC reaching 9.01%.

Perkins Cut Cannatonic entered by Mota Rebel Genetics expressed 18.8% CBD and 0.7% THC and was listed as the third highest. The fourth on the list was CBDee's #1B entered by Pure West Compassion Club with Light Sky Farms. It expressed a CBD level of 18.6% with THC at 0.7%.

In 2013, Bruce Banner came in number 3 at the Denver Cannabis Cup with a high of 28.35% THC. In 2015 a well known LA dispensary by the name of Greenwolf, took home the Denver Cup for their entry, Emperor Cookie Dough. This is not your ordinary cookie dough though. This stuff has a walloping 31.1% THC. Denver's own Next Harvest, wasn't about to be stirred. Their entry of ChemDog Cut surpassed the 32% mark setting the bar high with a new all-time record of 32.13% THC.

These are impressive levels and from the looks of it, the USA is producing a more power packed marijuana plant than that of our tokking friends in Jamaica.

The top of the list of six only reaches 17.8% THC submitted by St. Best Ganja Growers apparently going by a self titled name. The entry was submitted by Kevin Samuels and the strain is called Kevies Skunk. Second on the list of entries from Jamaica is True OG entered by Kingston Skinny with a 17.4% THC level followed by Power Nap entered by Sunspice with a level of 16.8% THC.

Next in the lineup is Gummy Berry 2 entered by Bongo Mannie. It's an indica flower grown outdoors with 16.6% THC. Following GB2 is Orange Hill Ebola entered by Juna Johnson. OHE is an outdoor grown indica with a 15.8% THC level. Wrapping it up at number six is M.G. Express - G.O.E.Original, coming again from St. Best Ganja Growers this time submitted by Glendon Elcis. This flower is an outdoor grown sativa leveling out at 15.4% THC and by the hyphenated name and initials G and E in the title, one must guess Glendon Elcis had a little influence.

Best Denver 420 Friendly Hotels and Lodging

Posted by CANNASaver on Friday, 30 December 2016 in Canna Blog

Denver 420 Friendly Hotels

If you’re traveling to Denver from out of state and planning to take a marijuana tour of Colorado, chances are you’ll want to book a stay at a Denver 420 friendly hotel. While possessing and buying weed are legal for everyone here as long as you’re at least 21, public consumption of marijuana is restricted throughout the state. COLORADO PTSD RULING

Five individuals with PTSD filed a claim against Colorado over its choice not to permit their condition to be dealt with under the state's therapeutic pot program, despite the fact that the marijuana is as of now, lawful in the state for medical and recreational purposes.

Colorado as a leader in cannabis cultivation and sales and should take a glazing look at the state of Illinois and it's most recent lawsuit filed to petition adding PTSD as a condition to the current list of approved ailments.

A Cook County judge has decided that Illinois must add post traumatic anxiety issues to the state's approved list of medical conditions that fit the bill for medicinal cannabis treatment, as reported by the Associated Press. Only one day prior to the judgement, restorative cannabis program executive Joseph Wright surrendered from his position.

The Illinois veteran who filed claim, Daniel Paul Jabs, supposedly "feels this choice gives him and other military veterans experiencing PTSD the admiration they merit from the state and the representative's office," as per an announcement by Michael Goldberg, his lawyer.

This new issue will at last permit Illinois veterans and other people who experience the ill effects of PTSD access to cannabis as medication, and will prevent the state from blocking cannabis as a treatment. This is a big triumph for cannabis-curing veterans all over the place.

Lawyers contend that cannabis has been "extremely obstructed" by the medicinal board's refusal to perceive PTSD as a condition that is fitting for medical cannabis treatment. The prohibition of PTSD from the list was made regardless of a proposal from Colorado's main medicinal officer Dr. Larry Wolk.

Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment awarded $2 million to Dr. Sue Sisley for her study on cannabis in treating PTSD. It appears Sisley has to source the plants for the study but her sources are not able produce the kind of cannabidiol-rich strains she needs. Her source of weed being that of the University of Mississippi streamlined by the National Institute on Drug Abuse.

On the alternative, she could walk into any local dispensary and purchase what she needs for the study but  that would make things too UNcomplicated. It would simplify things and most certainly expedite the process. In addition to that, Colorado would be receiving taxes on the money that's spent in the local dispensaries. It's as though there is no common sense among-st lawmakers.

The FDA approved two medications for PTSD, Paxil and Zoloft. According to research published in the Journal of the American Medical Association, neither are more effective than a placebo.

From a legal point of view, Colorado voters approved Amendment 20 which  allows the Board of Health to add conditions. Currently Section 14. of Amendment 20 states; Medical use of marijuana for persons suffering from debilitating medical conditions as used in this section,  terms are defined as follows;

(a) "Debilitating medical condition" means: (I) Cancer, glaucoma, positive status for human immunodeficiency virus, or acquired immune deficiency syndrome, or treatment for such conditions;

(II) A chronic or debilitating disease or medical condition, or treatment for such conditions, which produces, for a specific patient, one or more of the following, and for which, in the professional opinion of the patient's physician, such condition or conditions reasonably may be alleviated by the medical use of marijuana: cachexia ( a wasting syndrome):  severe pain; severe nausea; seizures, including those that are characteristic of epilepsy; or persistent muscle spasms, including those that are characteristic of multiple sclerosis; or

(III) Any other medical condition, or treatment for such condition, approved by the state health agency, pursuant to its rulemaking authority or its approval of any petition submitted by a patient or physician as provided in this section.

In the largest understanding of our mutual habitation on planet earth, let's get it together folks.  Suffering is absolutely unnecessary and avoidable.  Wake up and do the right thing
