Looking for the best dispensaries in Denver for edibles? There are lots of one-time coupons and edibles deals you can get periodically on CannaSaver, but which stores have the best daily specials that you can count on week after week? Mondays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays are the best days to shop for marijuana edibles, but if you know where to go, there are edibles deals to be found every day of the week. Here is the Savvy Stoner's roundup of the best dispensaries in Denver for edibles and daily specials.

Monday: Medicine Man Denver is one of the best dispensaries in Denver for edibles on a Monday. Medicine Man Denver sells both retail and medical marijuana, and they carry many edibles including the Leafs by Snoop line of edibles and Canyon strawberry lemonade suckers. Platte Valley Dispensary is another one of the best dispensaries in Denver for edibles on a Monday, although their deal isn't quite as good as the deal at Medicine Man. At Platte Valley Dispensary, when you buy an edible on a Monday, you can get another edible for 25% off the usual price. If you're in the Colorado Springs area, Quality Choice Alternative Care Dispensary also has a Monday buy one, get one half off on edibles special, and they carry a large selection of edibles that includes products like the marijuana-infused Monkey Bar by Incredibles. They are a locally owned and family operated medical marijuana dispensary, so unless you have your red card, you won't be able to shop there.

Tuesday: Herbal Remedies, a medical marijuana dispensary in Lakewood, Colorado near Denver, offers a 25% off discount on any edibles purchase made on a Tuesday. Herbal Remedies carries Blue Kudu, CannaPunch, Flower of Life Infused Products, Grandma's Chronic Goodies, Dixie Elixirs, and many other popular edibles brands. Herbal Remedies is located on Alameda Avenue in Lakewood and they're open seven days a week, but please note that they do only sell medical marijuana, as recreational marijuana sells are not allowed in the city of Lakewood due to a local ordinance.

Thursday: Another good edibles deal for medical marijuana patients can be found at Karmaceuticals. Stop by Karmaceuticals on Thursdays for their Thursday BlackJack game. Karmaceuticals members can win a marijuana cookie and a gram of flower, while non-members can score the free marijuana cookie. Karmaceuticals only sells medical marijuana, but they're open 365 days a year from 11:00a.m. to 7:00p.m. Quality Choice Alternative Care Center is also one of the best dispensaries for edibles on a Thursday, although they're located all the way down in Colorado Springs. Their “Thirsty Thursdays” special allows patrons to buy any marijuana infused beverage and get a second drink for half price. Quality Choice carries marijuana-infused sodas like Keef Cola and cannabis edibles like Dabba Chocolate. Dabba Chocolate is a cannabis-infused mint chocolate that was developed several years ago in Boulder, Colorado. They took home an award at the 2012 High Times Cannabis Cup, and since then, their products have become available in many marijuana dispensaries in Boulder, Denver, and all around the state of Colorado.

Everyday edibles deals in Denver: If planning ahead isn't your strong suit, just head to The Joint by Cannabis, where you get 20% off your edibles purchase any day of the week. Should I Try Marijuana Concentrates?

Posted by CANNASaver on Monday, 31 October 2016 in Canna Blog

Is It Time for Concentrates?

Concentrates are a far more prevalent product in the current marijuana industry than they ever have been, but for new customers and tourists the idea can be a little daunting and much of the time not something that they are actually looking for. I have seen tourists drop hundreds of dollars on concentrates and the necessary apparatuses to consume them, just for a few days worth of their trip, when really they could have gotten more than enough regular marijuana to meet whatever chemical demands their body may have had.

While concentrates are understandably a more purified form of what we are all smoking anyway, they can bring with them some disconcerting effects. There is of course the stigma that if you’ve not done concentrates before, your first time dabbing can be a little ridiculous compared to smoking regular flower. The first time I dabbed was right when I first moved to Denver, and I was blisteringly high for almost three hours. But the first thing I noticed was after having dabbed, regular flower did not hit me the same way for a few days. Concentrates can wreak havoc on your tolerance, and if you get too used to doing concentrates you can find yourself not even getting anywhere smoking regular weed. This is one of the main reasons I don’t do concentrates, because I enjoy actual smoking too much to let it get ruined by that level of tolerance. Even things like disposable vape pens can do a number on your resistance to THC, though generally only the higher end pure hash cartridges, as some of the ones cut with polyethylene glycol come in only slightly above smoking normally.

But for some people, particularly those who genuinely use it for medical benefits and need an incredibly strong high as fast as they can get it, and after building up a tolerance to regular marijuana it can be the next step for people not interested in edibles or tinctures. It can be pretty depressing for medical patients to find that their tolerance has risen to the point that an intake method doesn’t work anymore, and having this next step option is a nice trade off, though it can get considerably more expensive if you do it very regularly. That being said, because of the new regulation on concentrates only allowed to be sold as attributing to 3.5 grams of your allowed buying quantity, many dispensaries are running sales on concentrates, since they used to be able to sell considerably more at a time under previous regulations.

Some new products have cropped up as well, making ultra purified concentrates that then have additional terpenes added back in for an even more enhanced effect. These are very clean compared to regular flower as with smoking weed or tobacco there is a good amount of plant matter you are dealing with in the process of trying to get your chemicals. Terpenes can sometimes get lost or lessened in the case of some concentrate production, which can take away from the complexity of the high, but these days extractors have gotten much more skilled than when this all was starting. For people with greater levels of health concerns as far as what they put into their body can find concentrates to be the thing they might be looking for, though intake methods can have a decent presence in this decision as well.

This also comes into play when selling to people in a dispensary, as sometimes the people that want concentrates are only going to be in town for a few days and aren’t going to want to spend a whole bunch on a reliable setup, making for a growth in the available vaporizer pens, varying in price and reliability from 13$ disposable pens to several hundred dollar gold plated options. I have used a few of the disposables and had a roughly $60 pen that worked fairly well, but it is definitely a learning process as far as how much each pen can functionally use and timing for good hits.

Ultimately concentrates are for those with an already established tolerance, or an option every once in a while to have slightly too good of a time. They are definitely a big choice to make if you plan on switching to them regularly, though the industry is constantly working to make them more accessible so who knows maybe that’ll be the only way we smoke in a year or two. Just be wary, they can often be more than anyone regularly needs.

If successful, the California Craft Cannabis Initiative could lead to better quality cannabis in California and beyond. Drafted by lawyers Heather Burke and Omar Figueroa, the initiative is one of a large handful of recreational marijuana legalization measures vying to make it onto the November 2016 statewide ballot. In addition to retroactively legalizing the use, cultivation, possession, transportation, processing, distribution, and sale of marijuana by persons 21 years of age and older, the initiative would establish a seed bank dedicated to the preservation and development of cannabis strains, and would also provide incentives to encourage small-scale growers to produce top-quality weed. We've all heard of craft beers, but have you ever heard of craft cannabis? The concept is the same whether we're talking beer or buds. Small-scale, focused production allows artisans the opportunity to create unique, unusual, or specialty products of often exceptional quality. If California's Craft Cannabis Initiative passes, craft cannabis growers could actually register and trademark their buds. For instance, their would likely be regional designations such as “Humboldt County” or “Emerald Triangle,” as well as certified strains.

What this would mean for the average California cannabis consumer is that what you pay for is what you get, at least when purchasing a certified or trademark-registered product. Seems like a simple enough consumer expectation, but this isn't always the case in legal recreational cannabis states like Colorado, Oregon, and Washington where strains are often misnamed, ill grown, and poorly preserved in the mass-production frenzy of trying to meet an ever-rising demand. No means for certifying any particular strains of marijuana exist in these states, which basically results in anyone being able to call their buds anything they like and sell them under any name they choose, and consumers having nothing other than their own eyes, nose, and knowledge of cannabis to help them tell the difference. That Lemon Haze might be Lemon Haze, or it might not. That “rare” strain whose name you've never heard of before could be good old Blue Dream with a fancy new alias. If the initiative in California passes and other states decide to adopt their own certification mechanisms, consumers would be able to tell exactly what they were getting, and growers would have an incentive to protect their strains and develop them to their fullest potential.

The California Craft Cannabis Initiative would also provide an opportunity for growers to have their crops certified organic. This is something none of the legal marijuana states currently offer, which again leaves the consumer with little but their own judgment and the shopkeeper's word to go on when hoping to purchase organically-grown cannabis. As it stands, much of the marijuana sold at dispensaries is coated with pesticides and often contains fungus or heavy metals. It might say “organic,” but there isn't really any way of knowing whether or not it actually is. The California Craft Cannabis Initiative would make it possible for consumers to choose products that are certified organic, which could encourage other legal weed states to follow suit.

The initiative also calls for the establishment of the California Cannabis Genetic Repository. The repository would collect germplasm from all known cannabis strains, carefully preserving and documenting the biodiversity of the cannabis genus. Researchers and others wishing to study the cannabis plant would have free access to the repository, which could lead to the development of strains with higher potency, new hybrids, and more. As the nation's herb supply continues to be flooded with mislabeled or wrongly identified strains, preserving the genetics of specific cannabis strains becomes increasingly important not just for California, but for the world. The sponsors of the California Craft Cannabis Initiative have until December 21st to collect the 365,880 signatures required to get the measure placed on next November's ballot. There are at least ten other recreational cannabis legalization initiatives that are in the process of meeting requirements to make it on the ballot, as well. The Effects of Different Marijuana Strains | Enhance - Debilitate - Normalize,

When I first started budtending, I was very much of the "if it messes you up it's what you want" persuasion. I still very much dwell in that area but as I have had the opportunity to try a ludicrous amount of different strains and crosses, I can much more accurately get to the effect I'm looking for in most cases. Some strains I know for sure will effect me in a specific way, whereas some strains still baffle me and I need to do more pretend research on, all strains just making me wish I could test individual cannabinoids by themselves, But after all of this, I needed a way to explain the generalized effect of strains beyond the Indica Sativa Hybrid model, as there are plenty of cases where just those labels alone were either not accurate enough or in some cases even opposite. We recently got a Sativa strain that is under no circumstances effectually useful as a Sativa, and I would never sell it as such. A lot of categorization happens based on the physical makeup of the plants that are grown, as you can't necessarily know what a plant is really going to result in outside of how it has ended up in previous batches.

Indica vs. Sativa

The use of Indica Sativa and Hybrid in a consumer context is also essentially a curse. I cannot even begin to count the number of people that have come in not even ever having smoked weed adamantly telling me that they don't want Indicas, they hate them and they only want Sativas because someone told them all Indica strains would put them to sleep. This is understandable as these past two years have really opened up a lot as far as open experimentation and research, which can only continue to climb. But even so, the average customer is probably still going to tell you that they don't want Indicas, or that Sativas make them too paranoid or sometimes even that Sativas put them to sleep and they can ONLY smoke hybrids, which is generally all nonsense.

Even just going by my dispensary alone, we have always had Indica strains that are very energetic in addition to the more downer strains, and plenty of Sativas that I would never recommend for people to go out and do stuff on, more prone to relaxation and calmness. I have had a hard time really trying to narrow down how to describe the effects of different strains in a way that I can keep them all straight in my head and avoid being constantly thrown off by new weird crosses. So after much deliberation, I came up with the following three categories: enhance, debilitate, and normalize.

Three Ways to Categorize The Effects of Smoking Marijuana

Enhance strains are generally more applicable to Sativas and Sativa leaning hybrids, but are not limited to that by any means. Any strain that modifies your mental or physical feelings in a way that pushes you forward or helps you focus or even body high that reduces muscle pain could fall under this category, Enhance strains can come in many different ranges of strength as well, some lower THC strains being very beneficial for cerebral effect. These strains are generally more recommended for going out and doing things, mental expansion and creativity channeling, among other positive effects. The body high side of enhance strains I have also found to be a little more like lifting body high, losing a few pounds of weight in your extremities, good for all kinds of outdoor kinds of adventures. Enhance strains can also carry with them a heavy drop effect once they have worn off, as enhancement can't be permanent and you must eventually go back to normal you.

Debilitate strains come in two main types for me, strains that are very heavy on the body high and knockdown potential, and strains that make you stupid. I am a huge fan of strains that make you stupid, me stupid, what have you. I avoid a lot of enhance strains as I feel like there is rarely as much change in my headspace, sometimes getting a little more tangential than usual but that is rarely something I'm looking for, as anything more going on in my head just pushes me more towards just getting too distracted to function, whereas strains that knock me down mentally make me more able to enjoy the present rather than spiraling through my thoughts. Intense heavy body high as opposed to the enhance strains lifting body is also a preference for me, again because I want to be knocked down. While these strains can be often attributed to Indicas, the dumbing strains I have found are generally closer to hybrids, usually resulting from an interesting strain cross.

Normalize strains are interesting because they vary from person to person, as you may find that an Enhance or a Debilitate strain may actually knock you down or pick you up to normal. Most CBD strains that I have tried fall into this category, as they are generally just relaxing and relief heavy, without actually being too down. Some people associate CBDs with going to sleep or tiredness, but I don't really agree in any context. Normalize strains are more along the lines of getting you to a nice average space that you want to inhabit, rather than pushing you too much in any direction, similar to how people will take antidepressants or Adderall, things like that.

But these three categories are fairly fluid, really only getting assigned to strains that I think fully embody these ideas. Still if you go into a store and ask for something that fits one of these contexts, I guarantee you will have a much more productive conversation with your budtender. They may even be able to find you something much closer to what you need rather than just assigning you the Indica or Sativa of the day because you told them you couldn't smoke one or the other. I recommend you always take your drug research seriously, and try to move away from the traditional genetic classifications of weed. The sooner we start to move away from these ideas the sooner we can really advance into growing strains that do the same thing every time.

Save your stickers, keep a journal, whatever works for you, I encourage you to do it. Learning is the best aspect of this industry right now, as much as everyone else would have you believe it is money.

Money is not what we're working for.

Exploring Vaginas on Cannabis - A 3-Part Series

Posted by CANNASaver on Thursday, 03 November 2016 in Canna Blog

VAGINAS ON CANNABIS - Part 1.

A 3-Part Exploration of Weed and Vaginas

There appears to be a new (or not so new) craze going on.  Women are consuming cannabis vaginally and their stories are pretty savoury.  Both heterosexuals and lesbians are finding that showering their jewelry box with cannabis weed lube intensifies the overall sexual experience.

Here's one for you.  Lesbian and Author Anna Pulley shares steamy highlights on her blog about her "Week of Sex While High on Every Marijuana Product Imaginable" and hits the reader straight forward with her opening statement, “It smells like weed down here,” my girlfriend said.

Now that is an attention getter no matter hetero or homo! The images it brings to mind are just down right funny. Imagining a vagina with a big blunt hanging out of  it is just laughable, - or picturing a bong gently touching well inflamed vagina lips as it draws a long inhale and the smoke is puffed from the nostrils after a soothing journey up the torso into the head.

OK, so maybe this author isn't a Cosmo writer, however Krista McHarden is. Her story is one of a heterosexual nature. She states "When I first heard about a new lube  infused with pot, I was all,"WTF is wrong with people?" and also, "When can I try it?"   She goes on with the product description, "bring to your fingertips the power of ancient plant medicine to inspire deep healing and unlock profound pleasures." "Sounds good to me! Let's get high and then get freaky."  (her words exactly!)

This author being male, had a strong sense of urgency to investigate further the vagina cannabis connection, and of course study both of these women's stories in depth so as to best be able to share their experiences of vaginal weed experimentation with you.

Krista says  the lube should be applied before you are naturally lubricated. She states, "It comes in a spray bottle, which is difficult to operate upside down, so I applied it with my fingers while I was still dry. I'm not gonna lie, it was... odd and about as sexy as a pap smear. Not a great start."

Well if anything we know for sure, the weed lube product packaging was designed by a man!  Hey, listen up  all you cannabis vagina products manufactuers, - show a little vagina sensitivity and repackage so applying is quick, easy and pleasureable!

Krista goes on... "I did this and then waited about 15 minutes before getting hot and heavy with my dude. It hit me and it hit me hard, in the absolutely most delicious way. I was super relaxed and also super ready to go due to the fact that I was feeling so damn good! This was a mellow high that felt like a warm and very sexual hug, which is also what I was doing at the moment. We did it, and it was fun as hell, and I wanted to try it again."  Of course, I had to ask myself: "Could I get addicted to putting weed up my vagina?" and the answer is, yes. Yes, I could. This is something that I'd only do with someone I felt fully comfortable getting weird with, and then only on special occasions. But during those times? Hell yes; it was a blast to be both completely relaxed and gorgeously sensuous and I can't believe I typed that and I hope my mom never reads this."

Whew... Thanks for that Krista!

Here is a great example of a heterosexual vagina that has tried weed lube along with a story that should be allowed time to sink in deeply.

We'll get back to exploring the vagina cannabis connection in part two discussing vagina highs picking it up with Anna the lesbians story.

Stay tuned and remember to always respect the vagina.
Mr. D

Connoisseur Concentrates near DIA

If you’re ever looking for connoisseur concentrates or connoisseur marijuana deals near DIA, be sure to keep The Herbal Center in mind as they often have some of the best deals. Right now, this popular Peoria dispensary near DIA in northeast Denver has connoisseur concentrates on sale for an incredible price. Green Dot Silver Label FSE full spectrum extracts--are just $34 a gram medical or $38 a gram recreational. The Herbal Center also has a Platt Park dispensary near University of Denver on Broadway where you can get these same deals for connoisseur strains.

Connoisseur Deals Near Downtown

When I’m downtown and I want to find connoisseur marijuana deals near me, I look on CannaSaver to see the newest dispensary deals from stores like The Lodge, Mighty Tree, and Herbs 4 You. The Lodge downtown Denver dispensary has a really good deal on connoisseur concentrates right now. Live resin is only $170 for eight grams with the deal on CannaSaver, and there are many strains to choose from including sour diesel live resin, lucinda williams live resin, and blueberry live resin. This is a huge savings of $62 off the usual price. If you just want to get a single gram of connoisseur live resin, that will run you only $23. The Lodge also has a location on Federal blvd.

Mighty Tree has a good connoisseur deal going on too, with 710 Labs live rosin on sale for $70. Mighty Tree is an Overland dispensary near downtown that has top of the line marijuana at very reasonable prices. For a connoisseur weed deal near Capitol Hill, try Herbs 4 You. This Capitol Hill dispensary located on 9th avenue between Broadway and Lincoln has top shelf medical eighths for just $23, taxes included. They also have a connoisseur deal on moon rocks for rec customers. One gram of moon rocks is just $20 or get eight grams for $146 with the Herbs 4 You deal on CannaSaver. With six strains to choose from, this is one of the most tempting connoisseur weed deals near downtown. Other great connoisseur marijuana deals for caviar and moon rocks near Capitol Hill can be found at AMCH Denver. They have two pre-rolled 1.5 gram caviar joints for $30 medical, and recreational customers can get 8 grams moon rocks for $132.

Five Ways to Save Money on Recreational Weed and Medical Marijuana at Your Local Dispensary

For those of us who love weed, enjoying it as frequently as we'd like to enjoy it can get a little pricey. If a substantial portion of your budget is literally going up in smoke, it's time to find some ways to save money on marijuana. Here are five ways to cut back on your weed costs without having to cut back on the weed itself.

Go for Variety!

If you're only toking one type of weed, you'll quickly build up a tolerance, and the potency of the weed will seem to diminish with each bowl you smoke. Different strains of cannabis affect the mind and body in different ways. By enjoying a wide variety of buds, you're likely to feel higher and get maximum benefit from each little piece you toke, which enables you to get more bang for your buck.

Look for a dispensary that allow customers to split up quantities between different types of herbs, for instance, getting an ounce in the form of four quarters of different types of weed instead of just a single variety.

You might want to try a variety of cannabis consumption methods, too. The high provided by a single edible can last hours longer than the high produced from smoking a bowl, and is thus often more economical. Try topicals and edibles; supplement your best buds with dabs of wax and shatter and an additional bag of shake. It might seem counter-intuitive, but the more kinds of marijuana strains you enjoy, the more money you're likely to save on weed and concentrates in the long run at your local dispensaries!!

Share!

This again seems counter-intuitive, but it's true that the more weed you share, the less money will you spend at your dispensary on weed. It's the basic law of cannabis karma, the Golden Rule of weed smoking: Blaze up with others as you would have them toke with you. What goes around comes around, and that guy next door who you shared your last tiny bowl with yesterday might very well show up at your house tomorrow ready to smoke you up with a plump ounce of Colorado's finest weed. If you want to save money on weed, sharing beats out stinginess every time.

Use CannaSaver Coupons!

Seeing as you're here right now, you're most likely already aware that you can find tons of great money saving Denver recreational marijuana and MMJ coupons and deals on CannaSaver.com, but are you taking full advantage of all the dispensary discounts and weed deals available to you? You can find coupons for discount ounces, grams of wax and shatter, complimentary joints, buy one get one free edibles, and more from your favorite Denver dispensaries close to home. Check local newspapers and magazines for sales and specials, and make it a habit to pop onto CannaSaver.com to look for Dispensary Daily Specials and new recreational coupons and deals before you head out to the local dispensary or retail store. Actually, if you sign up for the CannaSaver Colorado newsletter, you'll get notified about the latest specials right in your email, so you won't miss out on any extra big savings and discounts.

Buy in Bulk!

Generally, the more weed you purchase from a dispensary at once, the cheaper per gram will it be. While a single gram might run you around $5-$10 in Denver, an entire ounce consisting of 28 grams can be purchased for $150—or even less, if you're coupon savvy. Determine how much money you have to spend on herbs in your monthly or bi-weekly budget, and when possible, procure the full quantity of buds you expect to need in a single purchase. The flower themselves will likely be cheaper, and you'll also save money (and time!) by avoiding extraneous trips to the local dispensary.

Grow It!

If it's legal for you to do so, why not grow some marijuana yourself? You might not have the greenest thumb or the most high-tech set-up, but any herb you manage to grow yourself is herb that you won't have to purchase. Cannabis cultivation can be a complex art, but mastering the basics is very simple. Cannabis is a weed, after all, and by Nature's design, it grows quickly and easily. There are also many great books on how to grow your own, like the Three A Light book on how to get 3 pounds per light. This book is really one of the best out there, especially if your looking to really get the highest yield per plant.  You might even arrange a growers co-op, providing a way for other small-scale cannabis gardeners to share, barter, and trade their spoils. Have the members of the gardening co-op stagger their growing cycles so that someone is always likely to have something ready to harvest.

These aren't the only ways to save money on cannabis, of course, but they're some of the most effective strategies you can employ without having to cut down on your weed intake. With a little savvy, you can get as high or as medicated as you like for a lot less cost.
