EDITOR'S NOTE: Although controversial in nature, there is no way we could ignore the hearings currently underway at the Capitol. As journalists we are bound to report on the facts, and here we present them for our readers to draw their own conclusions.

It was a dark day for democracy. The Cannatown Cannabis Cup, once thought to be a model of almost superior sportsmanship and craft, last year saw one of the ugliest incidents on Cannatown soil when one contender, upset when he didn’t win, began what the committee has called a “seven-part scheme” to defraud smakers of their choice in the Sativa category.

From the participants to the officials highest on the list, grower Darnell Chump made a concerted effort across the board to change the numbers, tallies, and legitimacy of the cup finalists such that he would overturn the People’s Choice. However, with nothing changed by the award ceremony, Chump called together an angry mob of very, very high people, and convinced them to storm the event arena. Feces were smeared on the walls. Respected judges were evacuated. The results were nothing short of deadly.

The plan seemed simple enough: create a diversion long enough to declare the results and judging completely worthless and out-dated, and then call the whole thing off, meanwhile claiming victory as last year’s finalist. “Essentially, he didn’t care about winning the cup, he just wanted the trophy,” said event organizer Barney Mills.

Now a full year and half later, the Canngressional committee investigating the January 6th fiasco is gearing up to hold accountable those very high bad actors.

“I believed my own lies”

Will M’Bar testified that Chump, super stoned off his rocker, didn't listen whatsoever when M'Bar explained how voting, and tallying, and generally, numbers worked.

“It was clear he had never personally counted past the number 30, entirely due to laziness,” the Attorney General said. “But there was no indication he was interested in the facts, much less, that he even knew I was there, because I’d really never seen him so stoned.”

“I thought boy, if he really believes all this stuff, he’s higher than an angel on Sunday,” M’Bar says in the video. “In fact, he was acting so high--in a real alternate reality--that I later asked and tracked down the same strain. Sure enough, it was Green Crack.”

Some have used this idea to defend Chump’s forthcoming behavior, that having been so completely stoned, he may have actually thought he was right -- and therefore, entitled to walk scott-free (even despite inciting a mob to go kill those in charge of the cup). Because he was so incredibly stoned, they say, he lacked the intent because he didn’t think he was doing anything wrong.

“If that’s the defense, then he’d be the first person to ever use it, and actually win, in the history of this country,” said Professor Zen Ghou of Cannatown University. “He’d have to be totally ripped to shreds to use that excuse, but if anyone would, it’d be him."

Judges commonly tell juries that “willful stonedness” to facts doesn’t necessarily demonstrate intent, although it does when coupled with “inciting a mob of any type," as it’s typically difficult to overlook riots and destruction, especially against such sacred institutions such as the Cannabis Cup.

It's not clear how Chump came to believe such a narrative, but experts say it may have come from watching 12 hours per day of Faux News, where it was the narrative, or perhaps from his small troupe of lawyers, who, given their unkempt appearance and demeanors, had likely been smaking through their own Green Crack for months on end.

Direct Evidence

Somewhat hampering Chump's claim that he didn’t try to overthrow the cup results, is a full length documentary covering those attempts. There was also the full-length speech made just prior to the attack on the capitol, in which Chump, on live television, personally instructed an armed mob to start fighting at the event center. Then there's the taped conversation in which both Chump and his team asked judges to completely ignore the numbers and choose their own winner. When this failed, Chump sought to bribe officials with his own brand of edibles (turned down not only for moral reasons, but because they were cheaply made from sawdust).

Not even a shred of evidence of fraud--the crux of Chump's argument--was included in over 60 complaints filed to the County Cup Board. Accordingly, not one judge considered the claim as more than stoned rambling.

A Scheme and a Scam

The plot thickens as new details emerge, suggesting Chump was stoned--but not incapacitated--meaning he was sober enough to calculate the risks and rewards of finding loopholes. Just prior to the incident, he asked if he could just pay to switch out the judges of the Cannabis Cup, and declare the previous winners the winners. “We all threatened to quit,” M’Bar testified, “because it was totally not cool. That's exactly what we told him.”

Also compounding Chump’s claims to an “honest” approach is the committee's revelation of his scheme to collect hundreds of millions from dedicated followers, almost all of which went to smaking weed or paying his kids and their significant others, none of whom appeared to have real jobs.

“The Smoking Bong”

The latest allegation--one that could be the 'dab nail in the coffin'--is the widely-told account by some officials that Chump asked them to "just declare the winning cannabis ain't legit and leave the rest up to me."

"That statement is the 'smoking bong' they need," said Erik Potholder, former Attorney General. Plus, the committee says, they have 1000+ texts or emails that say essentially the same thing. "At this point you have to wonder, for anyone who doesn't believe this was a grift, what the f*** else do they need to see?"

Dispo Deals

Posted by CANNASaver on Sunday, 10 July 2022 in

Dispo deals are popular. Every bud hunter loves him, her, or themself a bargain. If you’re a savvy stoner, then you can get more weed for the buck and stretch your budget

Dispensary deals are a win-win for buyer and seller.

For the cannabis center, it is good customer relations. They attract new customers through special offers. They can also reward repeat shoppers with regular sales. And some special occasions and holidays can drive business.

But what about ganja fans, what do they get out of it? Trying new pot places usually means sweet deal introductory offers.

Sometimes there are bulk deals on things like vape cartridges.  Or you might see ounce deals that can make stocking up more affordable.

Smart spending spreads money further and means more marijuana to enjoy!

Let’s delve deeper into dispensary deals and find out how to get great bud bargains.

weed deals at dispensary

Offers For First-Time Dispensary Shoppers

Most of us have our favorite places to shop for our stoner supplies. Weed sellers know that and want to lure you away from your usual place to try theirs. So, they offer special deals for the first time you shop at their store

Thus, there’s all kinds of incentives to try new dispensaries and see what they have to offer. Certainly, they are hoping that they will become your new regular place to get pot. Competition is what drives capitalism, and cannabis centers are no different.

So, what kinds of perks can you get when you ganja shop at a new place? Discounts and freebies are two ways provisioning centers draw in fresh business.

Discounts can be one-time percentages off total purchases. Sometimes the savings come with provisos. For example, 25% off if you spend up to a certain dollar amount. Usually, the percentage perk is just for the initial purchase.

Freebies come in different forms. They may throw in a preroll or an edible with whatever you buy. Other times you might get a bonus amount of flower when you buy some bud.

And, of course, you just might decide you like the new place better than your old supplier. That’s just what the weed store wants.

What do dispensaries offer customers who come to try their supply and then stick around?

Loyalty Programs and Membership Marijuana Savings

Marijuana merchandisers want to keep their customers happy. They don’t want them straying to other stores. So, they are motivated to promote membership perks.

Points programs are a popular privilege. Sometimes these can take the form of punch cards. Every time you stop to shop, the budtender will punch your card. Then, after so many purchases, you get some kind of discount or freebie.

Another idea used by supply stores is tiered discounts. When you spend up to a certain dollar amount, savings kicks in. Say after spending $1000 you get 25% off your next weed buy. Then once you cross $2000 in spending, you get a 30% savings. And so, it builds as you buy more from a particular place.

Referrals are also sometimes rewarded. Dispensaries might give you deals for bringing a friend. If your pothead pal mentions you when they buy or sign up, then you get a discount or freebie.

What other incentives might your supplier offer? How about high holidays and events?

Special Days for Promotions and Dispo Deals

Who wouldn’t want some weed for the holidays? And there are a lot of special days scattered throughout the year.

New Year’s Eve parties are made better with some marijuana. So, too, are summer celebrations like the 4th of July. Are there any dads who would consider cannabis a good Father’s Day gift? Of course, there are! Dispensaries often offer deals geared towards festive days.

Even better, there are special stoner holidays. Those would be 4/20 and 7/10. Most marijuana users recognize and even revere those dates.

4/20 is the original weed high holiday. 420 is a legendary high school kids’ code for after-school toking from back in the 70s. Over the years, it spread throughout cannabis culture. Nowadays, it is celebrated on April 20th worldwide.

7/10 is another special day. The numbers 710 are taken from the letters O-I-L, as in cannabis oil concentrates. Along with April 20th, July 10th is a day that dispensaries like to offer discounts.

Holidays and events create an automatic increase in bud buying. Different weed shops want to drive those droves of buyers to their stores. They do that with sweet sales and discounts.

Any local festival or celebration may prompt provisioning centers to offer deals. They want to draw in celebrants.

Your favorite marijuana mart probably has text or email promo lists that you can sign up for. That will clue you into sales and special discount days.

Bulk Bud Buying Bargains

One more way to save is to buy big amounts.

Vape carts are sometimes sold four or five at a time. Usually, the pricing is around a hundred bucks for a set of carts. Offers will vary from location to location.

There are combos for other concentrates as well. The popularity of dabbing makes quantity discounts a good draw for dispensaries.

Ounce deals are also commonplace. For the seller, these flower specials encourage larger weed purchases. For buyers, they are a great way to get more ganja for less spending green than purchasing it at full price.

Sample savings might be getting a second 28 grams for less after you purchase one.

Other than discounts, ounce promos often let you mix and match, building your own ounce. So you can get a quarter of one strain and quarters or halves of others until it equals a full ounce. The price point is usually cheaper than getting the lesser amounts separately.

There are frequently discounts on concentrates and edibles, too.

Now let’s discuss finding those stoner savings.

How to Find Great Dispensary Deals On Cannasaver

Where are the pricing promos you can get at your local provisioning center? How do you take advantage of first-timer, membership, and bulk buying dispo deals?

Other than smartphone texts, is there a way to get clued into local cannabis specials? That is entirely why Cannasaver exists! So you are definitely in the right place!

There is a search bar in the upper left corner that you can refine by location. Just type the kind of bud bonus that you’re interested in and read through the results.

Or you can click on any of the deals categories next to the search box.

To get you started, here’s a sampling of weed store savings:

Indica or Sativa for Nausea

Posted by CANNASaver on Friday, 08 July 2022 in Canna Blog

When dealing with nausea, you have a variety of different options. These include pharmaceutical drugs and over-the-counter medications. However, there are also natural remedies that can be used to treat nausea.

One such remedy is medical cannabis. While there are many strains and product types out there, it’s hard to tell which will help most.

This article will discuss the benefits of using cannabis for nausea, if indica or sativa for nausea is a viable treatment as well as some strains which can be used when it comes to treating nausea.

marijuana for nausea

Nausea is a problem for many health, dietary, and lifestyle reasons.

Cannabis has been shown to be effective at treating a range of conditions including nausea caused by chemotherapy treatment for cancer patients. Nausea is a problem for cancer patients, especially when they are being treated using chemotherapy. Nausea can also be a side effect of radiation therapy or surgery, among so many other things.

When you have nausea it's important to eat small meals throughout the day to keep your blood sugar steady and avoid dehydration. If you feel like eating, stay away from salty and fatty foods that could make things worse by increasing water retention in your body.

As cannabis is an anti-emetic and can help reduce nausea, the plant also comes with additional benefits such as increasing appetite, helping you sleep, and reducing stress.

Some of the best strains to relax and reduce nausea include both indica and hybrid strains. Sativa strains can help with nausea as well, but commonly are less likely to have CBD. Both THC and CBD are seen as effective treatments for nausea and vomiting.

While there are multiple pharmaceutical drugs that can be used to combat nausea, many patients want a more natural option.

While there are multiple pharmaceutical drugs that can be used to combat nausea, patients may want a more natural option. Cannabis has been shown to have numerous benefits for those suffering from nausea.

Cannabis is a natural product that has been used for millennia by humans for various purposes. Cannabis has been used to treat nausea for thousands of years; it was first used as medicine by ancient civilizations such as the Chinese and Egyptian peoples. It's potentially less harmful than many of the other treatments available today, including over-the-counter medications and prescription drugs. Some of these “Landrace” or original strains still exist today.

Sativa Landrace Strains for Nausea

  • Acapulco Gold
  • Durban Poison
  • Colombian Gold
  • Thai (also known as Chocolate Thai)

Indica Landrace Strains for Nausea

  • Afhani Kush
  • Hindu Kush
  • Pakistani Kush

Cannabis is a good option because it is an antiemetic.

Before we get into which indica or sativa for nausea is better, it’s important to recognize that cannabis is an antiemetic: a drug that helps prevent vomiting and treats nausea.

According to the University of New Mexico, cannabis is an excellent option for rapid treatment of nausea. However, the study coauthor Jacob Vigil notes “The mechanisms behind cannabis’ ability to rapidly reduce feelings of nausea are not fully clear…”

Cannabis comes in many different strains, with varying levels of THC (THC is the primary psychoactive component of cannabis).

Cannabis comes in many different strains, with varying levels of THC (THC is the primary psychoactive component of cannabis). Most people know that THC is what makes you feel “high” and “stoned” when you smoke or consume cannabis.

But there's another compound called CBD that can be used to get rid of nausea and vomiting without any psychoactive effects. This is why people who are sick with a health condition as serious as cancer, HIV/AIDS often use cannabis for relief, as well as those suffering from Crohn's disease or ulcerative colitis.

Sativa and Indica Strains for Nausea

  • Suver Haze; a high-CBD, low-THC sativa strain
  • Durban Poison; a sativa strain loaded with THC
  • Jack Herer; sativa-dominant THC strain
  • Northern Lights; heavy indica known to be relaxing
  • Cannatonic; a high-CBD, low-THC strain known to treat nausea, insomnia, and more

One useful distinction between strains of cannabis is indica or sativa for nausea.

One useful distinction between strains of cannabis is sativa vs indica.

Sativa strains are more energetic, while indica strains are more relaxing. This makes sativas better for daytime use, while indicas may be preferable for nighttime use or after the workday.

In addition to this general tendency towards either a relaxing or stimulating effect, there are additional differences between the two types regarding their chemical complexity and how they interact with the endocannabinoid system in our bodies. Research is still growing as more and more states and countries legalize recreational or medical cannabis.

Indica strains generally have higher levels of CBD and lower levels of THC.

Marijuana contains more than 100 different types of cannabinoids, with many being active in the human body. However, tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) and cannabidiol (CBD) get the most attention.

THC is the primary psychoactive component of cannabis. It's what gets you high and makes you feel euphoric when you smoke weed, use concentrates, or eat edibles.

However, not all cannabinoids are psychoactive; some have no effect on your mind at all!

CBD is one such cannabinoid that has no psychoactive properties, meaning it won't get you high like THC does. However, this non-psychoactive cannabinoid can still provide many benefits to users who want relief from nausea or pain without feeling intoxicated by their medicine!

High CBD Strains

  • Harlequin
  • Harle-Tsu; a high CBD cross between Harlequin and Sour Tsunami
  • Cannatonic
  • Sour Tsunami

Additionally, indica strains generally have a mellowing effect on the consumer, making them more suitable for nighttime use.

This can be especially helpful to those who suffer from nausea as they're trying to fall asleep. Sativa strains are known to have an energizing effect on consumers, which can make them more suitable for daytime use but less so at night.

Author Option: Indica strains are better for treatment of nausea than sativa strains.

If you’re suffering from nausea and trying to decide on a indica or sativa, an indica strain might be the way to go. The reasons for this are two-fold:

  1. Indica strains are more likely to have high CBD content. THC and CBD are both cannabinoids, but they work in different ways. THC is well known for producing a psychoactive effect in users while CBD has been shown to provide anti-anxiety and anti-inflammatory benefits without psychoactive effects. Because of these properties, sativa strains tend to have higher THC content than indicas (or at least less CBD). This makes them more stimulating and better suited for daytime use; however, it can make them less helpful with treating symptoms such as nausea which often appear at night or during times when you want to lay down and rest.
  2. Indica strains also tend to be more sedating than sativas because they contain higher levels of another cannabinoid called myrcene—a terpene found in many plants, including hops, that can help promote sleepiness while reducing anxiety and inflammation.

About Cannasaver

Back in 2009, we identified what was missing from cannabis media: a simple merging of traditional retail with the forces that once drove underground purchases for the decades before legalization: product deals and quality for a good price.

What you see today is the end product of that research, CANNAPAGES Directory & Digest, which first launched on the streets of Denver in January, 2014. Since then, we’ve worked to spread the joy of Cannasaver to recreational markets-–and we still have many new territories to explore.

Do Vape Cartridges Expire?

Posted by CANNASaver on Wednesday, 06 July 2022 in Canna Blog

Okay, scenario time, folks:

You’ve decided after smoking a particularly strong sativa that you are going to clean and organize your room. As you dig through various piles of stored away nostalgia, you come across many different marijuana vape cartridges you didn’t fully finish. Some of them are even about full. You feel like a pirate. You have, like Jack Sparrow, found lost treasure.

As you look at your current cartridge, you only have maybe one or two hits left before you’ll need to go to the dispensary. As beautiful as that sounds, the cleaning was about all you were wanting to do before chowing down on some snacks and maybe taking a nap.

You vote to might as well finish off the cartridges you have with the newly-rediscovered cannabis. After all, some of them are almost full! Nothing beats the glorious taste of a puff on some golden nectar found within vape cartridges. Absolute treasures.

But then you begin thinking, "I don’t remember the last time I bought that brand. How old are these cartridges? Can marijuana go bad? Do vape cartridges expire?"

As they say, “Nothing good lasts forever” and unfortunately, marijuana vape cartridges are no exception.

The Vape Cartridge

To give you a simple definition of a vape cartridge itself; it’s the device (plastic or glass tank with a mouthpiece) that carries cannabis oils and their properties (the fun part) into your body.

You should be aware that any little piece of this marijuana contraption, from the cannabis concentrate to the battery, is very much at risk of wearing out, failing, or “being bad”. Vape cartridges should not be looked at as a device built for longevity like pipes or bongs. Though this doesn’t mean you have to throw a cartridge away after a few uses.

Vape cartridges contain THC concentrate rather than actual marijuana buds/plant material. This means the vape cartridge will keep terpenes from evaporating and will not lose potency because of drying like with buds.

How Long Are Vape Cartridges Supposed To Last?

The best answer I can give you is that it depends on a few different factors: the size of the cartridge (half or full gram of oil), how often you are puffing on it, how well the cartridge stays together, etc.

How many puffs does a cartridge last?

A full gram vape cartridge is supposed to last around 300 seconds of total inhale time.

So, if you are on the lighter side of smoking, for example, you take 3-second puffs. This would grant you about 100 puffs from the cartridge.

If you proceed to use the cartridge but only once per day, the potential for you holding onto a cartridge for a much longer amount of time is very possible.

As opposed to those who use marijuana products more often, let’s say these individuals hit the device for 6 seconds, five times a day. Suddenly, that gram cartridge only lasts roughly ten days.

So, Can Vape Cartridges Expire?

If you haven’t guessed it by now, the simple and short answer is yes.

Much like many prescription medications/foods/drinks, vape cartridges (and wax concentrates) do expire.

However, unlike the meds/foods/drinks, vape cartridges don’t necessarily have an expiration tag or sell-by date, per se.

Expired vape cartridges will give indications of age and overall product degradation.

When cannabis oils found in the cartridge degrade, the potency of the oil lessens. The longer you take to finish a cartridge; the weaker the effects become when using an old vape cartridge. No “high” feeling being produced when you are wanting to get high is a bit of a bummer to say the least.

Signs that your vape pen may have expired are:

  • The oil has changed color and has become sludgy in appearance. Either a dark brown or black. No longer a beautiful golden color.
  • The oil has a funky taste and is incredibly harsh. A baking-soda-left-in-the-back-of-your-fridge kind of taste.
  • The oil has no smell and, with a lack of smell, likely comes a lack of potency.

What Happens if I Smoke an Expired Vape Cartridge?

The only real consequence of smoking an expired cartridge is a lack of taste, smell, and potency of the THC.

But, depending on how your cartridge was stored, the most disgusting thing that can happen to your vape cartridge is potentially growing mold.

Moldy weed doesn’t exactly taste great and furthermore, inhaling mold can lead to various lung-related diseases.

The silver lining is that vape cartridges do not go bad very quickly.

Most vape cartridges have a shelf life of about 1-2 years.

If the cartridge’s oil is still close to the same color and there are no signs of the oil becoming a sludgy substance, you are good to go. Proper storage of the cartridge will ensure it stays better for longer.

How To Prolong the Life of Your Vape Cartridge

Here are some tips to keep those vape cartridges fresh:

Avoid Sunlight

The absolute, most important way to store a vape cartridge is to keep the device completely away from direct sunlight. Sunlight destroys cannabinoids at a chemical level. The color changes from gold to brown, leading to reduced potencies and changes the way terpenes taste or smell (not in a good way).

Keep The Temp Down, But Not Too Low

The ideal temperature for storing cannabis vape cartridges is around 70F.

If vape cartridges are left in higher temperatures, much like with flower, it loses what makes them shine to begin with.

You can store your carts either in a drawer or you can store them in the fridge, but do not freeze your carts. It causes a laundry list of problems to the cartridge.

An Upright Cartridge is the Happiest

One thing that many miss while attempting to expand the life of their vape cartridges is to keep the mouthpiece part facing up, vertically, when not in use. This keeps your cartridge from leaking and creating clogs in the mouthpiece.

Now, armed with knowledge, you can now decide whether that old cartridge is worth having a puff on or not.

I'd still stay away from that cart you found under the couch cushion, though.

Solvent vs Solventless

Posted by CANNASaver on Monday, 27 June 2022 in Canna Blog

With more and more states legalizing cannabis in all of its wonderful forms each election cycle, the industry and products themselves are evolving. One of the most exciting categories of cannabis products available now is extracts. Extracts have been around for decades, but only with the legal market have they really become the subject of intense enthusiasm.

Those new to extracts frequently wonder what the differences are between solvent extracts and solventless extracts, as well as if there are any health concerns to consider. We’re going to take a deeper look at what defines solvent vs. solventless extracts, what makes each type unique, and if one is ultimately better than the other.

What Is The Difference In Solvent vs. Solventless Extraction?

When it comes to solvent vs. solventless extracts, the primary difference is how the extracts are made and whether that process involves any solvent. Solvent extracts require some intermediary to extract the trichomes and terpenes from the cannabis plant matter. Solventless extracts are those made without the use of any solvent or solution and require some sort of manual processing to extract the essential cannabis goodness.

Popular Solvent Extracts

Bubble Hash

Some of the very first cannabis extracts of the modern era were made with the “universal solvent,” water, or to be more specific, ice. Also known as ice water hash, bubble hash is made by agitating frozen plant matter with ice and water, allowing the ice to break the frozen trichomes off, which are then sent through a series of screens to achieve different hash grades. The finer the mesh of the screen, the better the result.

CO2 Oil

Many enthusiasts consider CO2 oil as clean as bubble hash. It uses supercritical CO2 to extract the trichs and terps from the plant material, so there is no petrochemical element, as well as BHO and PHO. Once the CO2 has extracted all the needed compounds, it is purged from the extract to leave a golden oil. One downside is that sometimes the terpene profile is suboptimal.

BHO & PHO

Butane hash oil or BHO, and Propane hash oil or PHO, are highly popular and efficient ways to extract cannabis. BHO is far more popular, however. They involve using butane or propane to free the trichomes from the plant material, then subjecting the solution to a vacuum purge to remove all of the solvent. Depending on the processing specifics, BHO and PHO can result in whipped, fluffy budder, crisp & crunchy shatter, or even live resin, making it incredibly versatile.

Full Spectrum Terp Sauce

Terp sauce is also known as “high terpene full spectrum extract,” and it is precisely that. It’s terpene-rich and provides the full concierge effect of a broad cannabinoid profile. It’s generally made using butane or propane, but it’s processed at far lower temperatures in the vacuum purge, at a much slower pace. This results in a thick sauce with “sugar” in it, which is actually crystallized cannabinoids.

Alcohol Wash Extracts

Since cannabinoids are alcohol-soluble, another popular extraction method involves using various alcohols, such as isopropyl or ethanol. Since alcohol is also a powerful solvent, this process must be done quickly to avoid leaching undesirable components like chlorophyll into the final extract. Quick-wash alcohol extracts have a very waxy texture and a much darker color than many other methods.

Popular Solventless Extracts

Rosin

Rosin is one of the most recent advancements for extraction, and it has become so popular that you can now order home rosin presses online to make your own from surplus flower. It involves a pair of heated plates that press flower with thousands of pounds of pressure and a few hundred degrees of heat to liquefy and squeeze out the cannabinoids and terpenes in a sticky, oily extract that is one of the most delicious cannabis products available. Rosin can be made from THC and CBD flower to suit the consumer’s preference.

Hash

Hash is fairly rare to find in dispensaries. It is the raw trichomes and oils from physically handling cannabis flower, which is then collected and pressed into a block or ball, often with the help of heat. Sometimes harvested flower is agitated on a screen, similar to your flower grinder but much larger, to collect the kief for processing.

Are There Health & Safety Concerns With Solvent vs. Solventless Extracts?

In every legal cannabis market in the country, there are stringent testing requirements in place to ensure public safety. We’re not talking about taste testing; we’re talking about full-scale laboratory-based gas chromatography-mass spectrometry testing. Testing confirms with molecular precision whether or not there are any contaminants in the extracts that are sold in dispensaries.

The process is simple; each production facility in each state is governed by that state’s requirements for periodic batch testing. If anything tests above pre-defined safety limits or contains any harmful volatile organic compounds leftover from extraction, the products cannot be sold. The manufacturers go to great lengths to ensure their products are aligned with state regulations and safe to consume, and in many cases, you can even get the most recent test results via their websites, so you can dab with confidence.

Solvent vs. Solventless Extracts: Which Ones Are Better?

Like most pleasures in the cannabis space, which one is better will often come down to simple personal preference. When you’re shopping around in medical or recreational markets, you’ll likely see a handful of different brands that tend to dominate the inventory. This means you’re more or less bound by what types they offer but are free to explore within those bounds.

In many areas, there has recently been a considerable movement toward more organic cannabis experiences, including a significant shift toward solventless extractions. Lab testing in legal states ensures that there are no contaminants or chemical hazards in any extracts sold to the public, so what really matters is which products you like and get the most enjoyment from.

Now that you know the differences between them, grab a few coupons for your local dispensaries and bring home a variety to taste and experience!

What is Live Resin Sauce?

Posted by CANNASaver on Thursday, 23 June 2022 in Canna Blog

Diamonds and terpenes are what live resin sauce is all about. Sometimes this sticky stuff is just called ‘sauce’. So, what is it and what is all the buzz about?

Regular live resin is well-regarded for flavor and fragrance. Sauce tops that with added terpenes. So, the smells and tastes are even stronger. For some wax enthusiasts, this turbo-boosts the dabbing experience.

Stellar highs and strong benefits are why concentrates have so much appeal. But delicious dabs that produce beautiful bouquets also appeal.

While there are a lot of different cannabis concentrates out there, this one stands out. For long-time bangers and beginners alike, it offers the freshness of flower with the kick of kief.

But it may not be so simple for some. There may be considerable confusion between live resin and live resin sauce. It shouldn’t be too hard to clear that up.

Let’s take a closer look at each. We’ll cover what they are and how they are made. And we will highlight the differences.

Further, we’ll compare them with other weed waxes.

And, before, we’re done, we’ll show you how to get some at a very decent discount.

What is Live Resin?

At the root of all this is resin. It’s literally the middle word in live resin sauce. So, what is it?

Resin gets pressed like hash. Heat and pressure turn plant matter into a concentrate. That produces a sticky, golden-brown sap.

What, then, is the ‘live’ variety? It’s made with uncured, fresh, frozen plants. This preserves essential terpenes and enhances sensory enjoyment. That means fuller fragrance and maximized flavor.

How Is Live Resin Made?

This gourmet ganja comes from harvested cannabis that is immediately iced. Thus, freshness is locked in. And the freeze is maintained throughout the extraction process. Extracting is done using a solvent, such as butane, which is then vaporized off.

The result of the above process is an amber extract. It is somewhat granular like sugar. The consistency is soft and malleable.

So, then, what’s the deal with live sauce?

What is Live Resin Sauce?

Terp sauce is another way to refer to this gooey wax. And it shares much in common with regular live resin.

Both kinds are prized for flavorful hits and powerful effects. And the extraction process is much the same.

How is Live Resin Sauce Made?

Either variety is processed using solvents. Common extraction solvents include butane and ethanol. Also commonly used is propane and supercritical carbon dioxide (CO2).

With sauce, terpenes and cannabinoids are separated under pressure. This leaves the final product with a non-uniform consistency. It looks like crystals of cannabis awash in an amber liquid. That liquid is the terpene juice leftover from the extraction.

Despite similar manufacture, the end result of each is decidedly different.

How Do They Differ?

Yes, both kinds of resin use fresh, frozen flower to start. And, sure, they undergo a similar extraction process. However, these two concentrates are distinctive. How are they unique?

There is an obvious visual difference. Live resin is crystalline. Sauce has crystals, or diamonds, in a syrup, hence its name.

But there are more unique properties that make the gooey ganja stand out.

Smell and flavor are a couple of ways that terp juice is extraordinary. The presence of boosted terpenes increases aroma and tastiness. Opening a jar of this stuff is a very sensory experience. The bouquet is intense. Likewise, smoking or dabbing some of this wet wax is exceptionally flavorful.

Terpenes can enhance the effects of cannabis. For example, the terpene myrcene is somewhat sedating. Therefore, it would make an indica more relaxing. Another terpene, caryophyllene, works with cannabinoids that reduce pain and inflammation. Consequently, more terpenes mean more boosting of the benefits.

That’s where sauce shines!

The only difference in dabbing involves consistency. Runnier concentrates necessitate tools with scoops or paddles. The pick end of a dab wand wouldn’t work as well.

Otherwise, it works the way any of the other concentrates do. You preheat the nail of your rig with a torch. Then you use the dab tool to scoop up some concentrate. You then touch the concentrate to the hot nail. And then you breathe in the vaporized cannabinoids and terpenes through the mouthpiece.

With sauce, you’re pretty much pouring it onto the nail.

So, how else does this live wax compare to other kinds of concentrates?

Other Types of Wax Concentrates

If you’re new to concentrates then you might want to try other types as well. What are they?

The most popular wax is shatter. It’s like brittle glass. Dabbers like it because pieces break off easily.

Budder or badder is a form of butane hash oil. It is a fluffier wax because it has air mixed in during processing.

Crumble is similar to budder. It has a very dry, soft, flaky consistency.

Rosin and live rosin are solventless concentrates. They are made with heat and pressure solely. Anything ‘live’ utilizes fresh frozen cannabis in production.

And we’ve already covered the various resins.

What sets live resin sauce apart is the intensity of flavor and aroma. That’s why it’s becoming an increasingly popular wax to dab. Many of the above waxes have strong effects. They’re concentrated and that’s what they are all about. But the extra terpenes in terp sauce boost the taste and aroma above the others.

Now comes the best part: finding out how and where you can get the best deals.

Can Edibles Go Bad?

Posted by CANNASaver on Monday, 20 June 2022 in Canna Blog

Have you ever reached for some leftover stored in your fridge and discovered that it has become… bad? Bad as in moldy, smelly, and just plain ‘Ewww’!

Not only is spoiled food nasty looking and tasting, but it’s also potentially dangerous. Food poisoning, after all, is a thing.

And the cannabis and other ingredients an edible can start to expire. Weed itself loses potency over time. And it is hardly immune to getting moldy.

If you eat your hash brownies or weed cookies right away, no worries. But if you want to keep some for later, what do you do? How long can they last? Is there a way to store cannabis cuisine so that it stays fresh longer?

Inquiring minds always want to know. So, we shall explore the problem of expiring pot treats further. And we’ll come up with solutions to keep foods featuring cannabinoids fresh longer.

First, let’s find out why edibles can get icky over time.

Do Edibles Expire?

Stating the obvious, edibles are food. And food tends to go bad after a while. It loses flavor, loses nutrition, and sometimes grows fur.

Consumables are made of dead plants and animals and those things will deteriorate. Yet, good storage can postpone the inevitable, maybe even for months in a freezer.

Trigger warning if you’re germophobic, but germs are everywhere. Molds and spoilage bacteria will get into your edibles. Because your food is also theirs. It’s a circle of life kind of thing.

An airtight container and refrigeration are tested ways to keep perishables good. But storage has its limits and consumables can lose flavor and dry out. In colder storage temps they can even get freezer-burned.

The biggest concern with any cannabis product is actually loss of potency. That includes edibles. Storage of any ganja stash should be in a cold, dark place. Sunlight and heat accelerate deterioration.

So, food loses flavor and cannabinoids lose efficacy. Since edibles are cannabinoid-infused cuisine, they can indeed go bad.

But does bad mean potentially harmful?

Can Expired Edibles Hurt You?

So, we’ve established that weedy treats are food. What’s the worst that can happen if you eat expired stoner snacks?

Any consumable substance, cannabis-infused or not, can become contaminated with bacteria. E-coli is one of the most common bacteria that can cause food poisoning. What’s so bad about food poisoning?

Toxic organisms in the things we eat can cause sickness. You might experience symptoms like fever, stomach cramps, nausea, and vomiting. That can lead to a trip to an urgent care clinic or even the emergency room.

Extreme cases of food poisoning have led to death.

It may seem like excessive worrying, but spoiled food is nothing to shrug off.

Even if the eats aren’t yet poisonous, the cannabinoids contained in pot cuisine can lose potency. Talk about a major buzzkill, right?

That means reduced buzz and benefits. This means you have to eat more of it to get the same effects. That could lead to overeating and potential weight gain.

So, all this leads to our next question. What’s the lifetime of ganja goodies?

How Long Are Edibles Still Good?

Baked goods do have some shelf life. Lots of people have cookie jars, right? And your fridge likely has a few leftovers, hopefully, stored in airtight containers.

So, for infused foods what does that mean?

Manufactured marijuana fare may contain preservatives. Those are chemicals added to consumables to make them last longer. That is a consideration. It depends on whether it’s a dispensary-bought or homemade confection.

Homemade hash brownies, for instance, will likely last less long than manufactured ones.

As to how long 420-food stays fresh, that depends on the ingredients.

Dairy products tend to last the least long, only a few days

Similarly, most beverages are best if consumed within a few days of opening. Many baked products can be good for weeks if they’re put away properly.

Candies last forever, suckers more than chocolates. Cocoa confections lose flavor over time.

You can use your experience with non-infused fare to gauge how long edibles are indeed edible.

For the potency aspect of the pot, it can be 3-6 months before the ganja grub might begin to decline. Again, assuming storage in a cool, dark place.

Now, to keep cannabis cookery tasty and safe, what constitutes good storing practices?

How Do You Store Edibles For a Longer Shelf Life?

We’ve talked about airtight containers and placing them in a cool, dark place.

For most people, that means some resealable plasticware in the fridge.

However, that doesn’t mean that you have to refrigerate. Make sure your storage space is not overly warm. Also, try to limit sunlight. If you're mindful, you can keep food at room temperature for a few days.

For short-term storage, a zippered plastic baggie or plastic cling wrap can work. Those options can keep cannabis goods from spoilage for days. Plastic offers some protection against air and bacteria.

Anything longer than that and thicker, hard plastic is better. So, keeping storage containers on hand for weedy treats is wise.

And if there’s room in your fridge, that’s the place leftover edibles should go. The cold and dark keeps the cannabis from degrading. Also, bacteria work more slowly in the cold, so that should keep mold and bacteria at bay. This will work for up to several weeks.

Storing anything for more than a few days or a couple of weeks should involve the freezer. Sub-zero temps pretty much prevent fuzz from forming on your food.

There is a downside. The longer you store stuff in the deep freeze, the greater the chance it can become freezer-burned.

420 foodstuffs aren’t meant to last forever. After all, you don’t get any benefit unless you eat them. But if you do need to store some for a while, there are ways to do so safely and efficiently.

Now you need some marijuana munchies to store. Or eat all at once. That’s your call.

Look below to find out where you can get cannabis consumables at a great rate.

Cannabis Topicals

Posted by CANNASaver on Friday, 17 June 2022 in Canna Blog

Getting older, ain’t it fun?

Waking up with a sore back. Twisting your ankle climbing over the kids' toys. Spraining your knee thinking you can play sports as you did in high school. An assorted list of chronic pain.

At this point, many people are well aware of marijuana’s amazing ability to ease various aches and pains. But maybe you’re someone who doesn’t enjoy smoking or “getting high.”

But let me ask, could you potentially use the healing benefits cannabis has to offer?

If you’re like me, you aren’t getting any younger. Might as well do something natural for those annoying daily pains.

Enter: Cannabis topicals, a much safer substitute for the typical painkillers (opiates, etc.) doctors’ will prescribe.

Daily activities don’t need to be a struggle. Let’s look at what cannabis topicals are, how they work, the types of topicals you’ll find, and why topicals may improve your overall health.

What are Cannabis Topicals?

Cannabis topicals are marijuana-infused products that are applied to the skin to provide relief to the area of soreness. Topicals are extremely fast-acting and will provide you with hours of relief for various pains/muscle soreness, inflammation, and even aid in skincare routines.

Cannabis topicals come in lotions/creams, oils, salves, gels, and transdermal patches.

Cannabis topicals are the number one choice for those who need the restorative impact that cannabis provides without the psychoactive effect marijuana can create.

How Do Cannabis Topicals Work?

This is where your body's naturally embedded endocannabinoid framework comes in. Everyone has an endocannabinoid system. Your endocannabinoid system manages your state of mind, appetite, and pleasure/pain receptors.

The cannabinoids, the compounds that make cannabis what it is, found in the topicals work by binding to your cannabinoid receptors associated with pain and inflammation.

When a cannabis topical is applied, you will probably begin feeling the effects within an hour.

Those who have utilized the effects of cannabis topicals have reported relief from pain, soreness, overall tension, and inflammation. Great for headaches and migraines which some people deal with daily. Topicals also aid in skin conditions like dermatitis and psoriasis.

Types of Cannabis Topicals Available

There are a few different types of cannabis topical products out there so that when you go to your local dispensary, you know what to ask for...

Lotions and Creams

Cannabis lotions and creams are more liquid in substance and are non-greasy.  They are easy to apply and can be used anywhere on your body. These topicals are the best for those using cannabis for skincare routines.

Oil

Cannabis oils are thicker than lotions. Oils are very flexible in terms of usage. They can be applied either topically or ingested orally.

Salves

Cannabis salves are a thick, greasy substance that usually contains beeswax. Salves are typically hardened substances that must be warmed in order to apply.

Gels

Gels are transparent, viscous fluids made up of cellulose (plant skin). Gel has a cooling sensation which makes it a potent product for fighting migraines or headaches. Gels also assist with easing sinus pressure.

Transdermal Patches

Transdermal patches are the strongest type of cannabis topical available. These topicals are the only kind with the possibility of getting you high. Purely CBD patches will not have a psychoactive effect.

Patches come with an adhesive side that you stick like a bandaid. The patch works best when applied to an area of your body with lots of blood flow. Patches work by spreading the cannabinoid within the patch throughout your bloodstream.  Patches can work for up to 12 hours.

The Health Benefits of Cannabis Topicals

The health benefits of cannabis topicals have been used by humans for centuries, dating all the way back to ancient Egypt. Cannabis topicals are popular for their pain-relieving and anti-inflammatory effects.

Cannabis Topicals have a wide range of health benefits. Maybe they can help you with one of these ailments.

Pain Relief

The blend of THC and CBD together is known to be the most ideal way to alleviate pain on a significant level.

Through the chemical interaction known as the entourage effect, THC and CBD work hand and hand to dull pains you may be experiencing. This is much more powerful than THC or CBD independently.

The kinds of pain that cannabis topicals can assist with include nerve pain, arthritis, and muscle stiffness/spasms.

Anti-Inflammation

Do you have a burn, sprain, swelling, or annoying bug bite? Rub some cannabis topical on it!

Cannabis topicals are potent anti-inflammatories. They provide localized relief to a specific area, potentially allowing you to avoid taking various medications associated with inflammation.

Arthritis is a common health issue associated with pain and inflammation. The anti-inflammatory properties of cannabis topicals are bliss for individuals with arthritis since inflammation of your joints causes the arthritis.

Also, utilizing some cannabis topicals after exercising is an amazing method for combating muscle tension/soreness.

Antiseptic

Did you ever think you could effectively have some cannabis in your first aid kit?

Cannabis topicals are now being acknowledged for their disinfectant potential.

Cannabinoids found in marijuana, like THC and CBD, have been found to be effective in killing Methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA); which is a disease known as a superbug which resists antibiotics.

This suggests that cannabinoids have antibacterial properties and hold the potential for addressing issues like antibiotic resistance.

Aids in Skincare

Yep, cannabis topicals can help out with your skin, too!

Relief For Eczema

Properties found in cannabis topicals, such as anti-itch and anti-inflammatory, could be incredibly useful if you are someone suffering from eczema and its symptoms.

Topicals also reduce the need for occasionally prescribed steroid creams. These kinds of creams can be harmful and often your body will build a resistance to this type of cream; only meaning bigger and bigger doses needed of the steroid cream.

Reducing Acne

Are you someone who can’t seem to rid yourself of your pesky, painful acne?

You can now breathe a sigh of relief.

Topicals are rich in cannabinoids, vitamins, and antioxidants which are known to keep acne in check. Cannabinoids, such as CBD, have been shown to effectively regulate how much oil your skin produces.

Anti-Aging

As we fight to figure out where the fountain of youth is, cannabis topicals may just be the next best option.

Topical cannabinoids have powerful, cell-regenerative properties that can target skin irritation/damage. This makes cannabis topicals a potentially useful remedy for those who want to look younger.

Sadly, topicals cannot reverse damage caused by the sun or the Earth’s environment, but they do offer a reduction of the visible impact.

710 Deals

Posted by CANNASaver on Friday, 27 May 2022 in Canna Blog - Latest News

So your buddy ran up to you today and said, “710 is right around the corner! It’s amongst us!” Then decides to follow up with, “how are we celebrating?” You get so caught up in the moment you exclaim, “As crazy as we can!” Suddenly, you realize you have no idea what 710 even is. What did you just sign up for?

Worry not, up-and-coming canna-connoisseur, 710 is a fairly recent entry into cannabis culture. The culture surrounding marijuana is loaded with special terms which add spice and fun to the bigger picture of enjoying cannabis like 420. 710 is just the baby of the terms.

In the last several years, another day to celebrate marijuana arose to showcase the notoriety cannabis concentrates were becoming.

Today, we are going to look at what exactly 710 is, the history behind the number, the tools you may need to celebrate, and how you can weave 710 into a unique smoking festivity much like the more known 420.

710 Cannabis Deals

What is 710?

While many marijuana lovers most likely know what 420 is, many don’t know about 710.

710 is for cannabis concentrates as 420 is for marijuana bud/flower. The number is associated with dabbing and the enjoyment of cannabis concentrates such as wax and shatter. 710 makes July 10th the marijuana concentrate celebration day.

You might ask yourself, “but why that number? 710?” It is kind of funny how simple that answer actually is.

710 spells “OIL” when looked at upside down.

Since legalization, marijuana extraction techniques have only continued to ascend concentrates into grand heights.

A Little History Behind 710

Sadly, the number, 710, has no clear-cut answer as to its origin.

710, as a term, might have emerged decades ago as a code for marijuana oil. It could be that hen the "Devil's Lettuce" was more frowned upon on a criminal level, those who wanted cannabis concentrates asked their dealers for "710," indicating their want for concentrates.

More likely, however, the code 710 has only been used in the last decade, starting in the mid 2010s. High Times mentioned 710 as an important holiday in 2014.

Weed Deals For 7 10

Ok, But Concentrates and Dabbing?

Wax/concentrate is a widely accepted term for any kind of marijuana concentrate like wax, shatter, distillate, etc. They are considered “concentrates” due to having THC levels as high as 99%. Making them highly “concentrated” with THC.

Marijuana concentrates come in many forms like wax, oil, shatter, live resin, and many others. They are made through special processes that extract extremely delicate cannabinoids without chemicals or harsh solvents.

Dabbing is simply the act of smoking a marijuana concentrate. You take a “dab” of marijuana concentrate (not much at all), heat it on a nail, and inhale much like hitting a bong through a rig. Vaporizers are also a big tool when dabbing cannabis concentrates.

What Is Needed To Celebrate 710?

710 is best celebrated with a hefty dab or two. If you are a consumer who is new to dabbing, a traditional sized dab is a pinhead size portion of concentrate which is consumed via a rig (small concentrate bong).

Dab tools are a must. They allow you to size out your dab and also keep you from burning yourself while smoking.

A torch will be needed to apply high heat for the concentrate to combust, allowing for inhalation. E-nails can also be used to delete the torch-needing process though are typically on the pricier end.

Vape pens and other portable dab vapes are another incredibly popular way to dab. They make the process very easy and without so many parts. They also allow for temperature control which grants the control of smoke production and flavor while smoking.

Wax Concentrates

Kinds of 710 Concentrates You’ll Find

The best way to celebrate 710 is by consuming wax concentrates (and similar products). Here’s a breakdown of different concentrates.

Wax

Marijuana wax is typically softer than other concentrates. They can appear in many different ways in terms of texture, smell, looks, and color. Waxes come in variations like crumble, honeycomb, badder, and  budder. Wax can be up to 90% in THC content.

Shatter

Marijuana shatter is a harder and more fragile concentrate. The name shatter comes from its likeness to glass. Shatter is an amber-colored and translucent concentrate.

Shatter can also come in a variation known as pull-n-snap shatter. This kind of shatter is much softer and more pliable making it easier to measure a precise dab amount to smoke.

Oil

Marijuana oils are a more liquidy, runny kind of substance. They typically come in a sort of syringe/applicator or vape pen cartridge.

Live Resin

Live resin is the most delicious way to enjoy marijuana concentrates. The process is well-known for being the highest quality of marijuana extracts. The process of live resin maintains the fresh terpene profile of the original plant material. Live resin can also come in a substance known as sauce. In this form, the consistency of the substance is a watery texture packed with all the flavor you could ever want.

Distillate

A distillate is a marijuana concentrate that uses a refined distillation process. The results are a potent concentrate that can see single cannabinoids reach 100% purity. This makes THC distillates some of the more potent options out there.

So when your friend asks, “How are we celebrating?” You can tell them exactly how you want to celebrate with your vast knowledge of all kinds of 710 and dabbing. 710 is just another reason to celebrate cannabis and the culture it surrounds.

710 shines a light on the wonderful process of cannabis extraction and its leading players; wax, shatter, oil, distillate, and live resin.

Like any day, May 26 represents an anniversary of some sort. In this case, it's an opportunity to celebrate a tour that concluded 50 years ago and has since become immortalized on numerous releases and gone down in the annals as one of the finest in the career of a band known for their live performances. Just like public opinion on the San Francisco pioneers, that of this transatlantic run has only grown over time. Deservingly.

The spring of '72 was a period of transition for the Grateful Dead. It marked the last tour with original keyboardist and blues-focused organ playing of Ron "Pigpen" McKernan. It also featured his then counterpart and future replacement Keith Godchaux, who had joined a few months prior and was followed shortly thereafter by his wife Donna on vocals. The Dead embraced Keith's piano and its prominence sent them in a new direction as a band, which, combined with the departure of second drummer Mickey Hart a year earlier, provided fertile ground for the streamlined  "classic" '72-'74 era notable for its nimbleness and clarity. I am not alone in the fanbase of those born years later who "understood" the Dead because of shows like these. Yes, it's easier to grab on to than some of those '60s explorations or '80s drums/space, but it's also ridiculously good.

The spring tour would be immortalized that November on Europe '72. Choice cuts of concert staples and others that would soon fill that role, many of which never had studio versions formally released, made for a triple LP representing a band at (one of) the peaks of its powers while simultaneously adjusting membership and touring a foreign continent. In hindsight, that they pulled the tour off is no surprise considering what they had already undergone and would later accomplish, but in the moment, logistical aspects were anything but smooth sailing. That the results sound so perfect and encapsulate an entire career that had yet to completely unfold is its true beauty.

The tour has since gone on to be released in full on CDVolume two of the immensely successful original release dropped in 2011. It's also seen recent record store day features, and the entirety of the four-night, tour-concluding Lyceum run will soon become available on a 24-LP set.

This is the Grateful Dead, and the 22-show spring jaunt back in Europe '72 is the gift that keeps on giving.

What is Live Rosin?

Posted by CANNASaver on Monday, 23 May 2022 in Canna Blog

Maybe you’ve heard of live rosin and wondered what it was. Simply, it is the caviar of cannabis. And, much like the food, it can also be somewhat expensive. Indeed, it may be the costliest item in many dispensaries

However, there are some excellent wax concentrate deals, including live rosin deals. So, what is live rosin? Are there good deals?? Is it worth it?

What’s the deal? Why does it cost more than other concentrates?

These are good questions that will get answered shortly.

You may have some confusion between resin and rosin. Then there’s live resin versus live rosin.

We’ll clear all that up.

Want to know what you do with it? Are you curious as to how to consume this cannabis concentrate?

Details will follow.

Finally, we’ll make getting some of this high-end weed wax for yourself easy on your bud budget.

What is Rosin?

There are many different dab waxes. There’s shatter, budder, crumble, and resin – to name a few.

Briefly, here’s the lowdown on each.

Shatter is a glassy and brittle wax. It’s a popular choice for dabbers because it’s easy to break into small pieces. This solid is considered very pure.

Budder is opaque butane hash oil. Like table butter, this concentrate is spreadable. That makes it easy to use in joints as well as dabbing.

Aptly named, crumble is a soft wax. It too is easy to use in small bits for dabs.

Resin is a dark, sticky concentrate. It is made from dried and cured cannabis flowers. The live resin variety is made from fresh plants that haven’t been dried or cured.

So, how does rosin differ? Most other waxes use a solvent-based extraction process. However, with rosin, the extracting is done without solvent

The lack of any residual solvent, the purity, is what makes it popular. Like organic food, fans like the absence of additives. It is all-natural.

Heat and pressure on dried and cured marijuana flower are used to produce rosin. The result is a yellow, soft, and sticky solid. Depending on the amounts of heat and pressure, it can be semi-liquid.

Like some of the other dab waxes, its softness makes it pretty easy to dab.

Now, what makes the ‘live’ kind different?

Live Rosin Versus Rosin

Both versions are made in a solvent-less manner. So, what’s the difference? The freshness of the source plants is key.

While rosin uses dried and cured cannabis, live rosin uses pot plant material that is neither dried nor cured. Both are somewhat organic, but the ‘live’ type is even purer.

Both are made similarly. Each is akin to hash. Hash is pressed kief. The pressed plant matter is rosin.

All undergo pressure during production.

Live rosin starts with a fresh frozen cannabis crop. Freezing keeps the plants and the all-important trichomes from degrading while stored.

Next, producers wash the still-frozen cannabis in ice water. This extracts the trichomes from the flower. Then the separated trichomes are left to dry. The process results in bubble hash.

Finally, heat and pressure are applied for the final step. Those that make their live rosin by hand often use a flat iron, also known as a straightener. The pressure and heat cause the trichomes to burst.

The oils released from the above step are filtered through a mesh. The hash oil runs onto parchment paper where it cools. It can now be used in dabbing.

So, how then does live rosin differ from live resin?

What’s the Difference Between Live Resin and Live Rosin?

If you’re buying concentrates, you want to be sure you’re getting what you’re after. Knowing the differences between waxes is important. Live resin and live rosin are distinctly different things.

Since they both have the word ‘live’ and are spelled similarly, it is easy to confuse the two. Keep in mind, though, that resin uses a solvent to process.

Rosin does not.

The ‘live’ in both names refers to the freshness of the cannabis.

In both cases, there’s no drying or curing of the plant material before processing.

But their coloration is not the same. Live resin tends to be white or pale yellow. The other is more amber-colored.

The consistency of both is soft. Live rosin tends to be sticky. Live resin varies in texture. Sometimes it resembles wet crystals. Other times it can be more like sap.

Experience will eventually help you spot the differences between the two waxes.

Now that you have a good idea of what live rosin is, how do you consume this concentrate?

How to Enjoy Live Rosin

Principally, this wax is dabbed.

Most marijuana waxes (concentrates) are dabbed. Dabbing uses a bong-like device with a nail instead of a bowl. The nail is heated and then the concentrate is placed on that nail where it vaporizes. Then you breathe in the vapors just like taking a bong hit.

How else could you use it?

You could put some in a pipe or bong bowl and smoke it that way. That’s not an uncommon practice.

Can you eat it?

If they are decarbed, then waxes can be consumed orally. They must be heated until activated. Then concentrates can be mixed into food and just eaten directly.

However, when consuming cannabis you have to wait longer for the effects to kick in. Dabbing or smoking provides benefits within minutes. When used orally, there can be some immediate sublingual effects.

But the full effects can take a half-hour to an hour for the benefits to kick in.

What’s the Deal with Live Rosin?

Live rosin is popular because of its purity. Solventless extracts are considered all-natural.

Like all concentrates, this one is high in THC. That gives you more powerful effects than smoking straight leaf.

It is different from regular rosin in that it doesn’t use dried and cured plant matter. .it uses fresh, frozen cannabis.

The extraction method uses ice water. Then the resulting bubble hash is heated and pressed to produce the oil.

It has a different color and consistency. Those characteristics should help you distinguish it from other waxes.

Now, as we noted it does tend to cost more than some other waxes. But here is where we can help you out.

Check some of the links below for great deals on live rosin. Then get yourself some and dab away!

Buddha Grass

Review of Buddha Grass

By W. Goodwin

We arise in the predawn darkness fearing another disappointment. Are the clouds of the previous three days still blocking the giant peaks from our hungry eyes? Barefoot, we cross the dirt floor of the typical Nepali ‘guest house’ and step out into the cold air… Not a cloud in the blue-black sky! The astonishing mass of 26,795-foot Dhaulagiri looms over us, her eastern face already radiant in the sun. Shivering, we turn around and stare at the ragged silhouette of the Annapurna massif. Between the two giant mountains and in the gorge far below us, the Kali Gandaki River roars through its gorge.

We hurry back inside, boot-up and stow our stuff. Packs once again on our backs, we hit the still-dark trail slugging water and scarfing down granola bars.

We are hiking the steep sides of the planet’s deepest river gorge on a footpath connecting Nepal and Tibet. We never know what we will see next on the trail: a pushy crowd of brown yaks, a herd of long-haired goats, barefoot porters with filing cabinets on their backs, women hauling thirty-kilo bundles of wood, robed monks chanting as they trek, itinerant sadhus with flashing eyes…

We finally emerge from the Kali Gandaki gorge into the unfiltered light of the high Tibetan plateau. Being in the rain shadow of the Himalaya, the terrain spreading out before us is brown and deforested, the only green being scattered rice terraces. We have entered the ancient and secretive province of Mustang.

Around mid-afternoon, two saffron-robed monks approach us on the trail. They are accompanied by an unusual honey-brown yak carrying four large woven bags on its back. The monks stop and attempt to speak with us. They know about four words of English and we know not a single word of whatever language they speak. After fruitless attempts to understand each another, one of the monks reaches into a bag on the yak’s back and extracts what looks like a dried-out, cornhusk-covered tamale wrapped tightly with a thin vine.

A twinkle in his eye, the monk removes the vine from the dehydrated ‘tamale’ and carefully peels back the husk to expose a core of desiccated plant material. To my eye it looks like very old marijuana. With a serious, almost formal look on his face, the monk hands the ‘tamale’ to me. My trail mate and I peer closely at it. Greyish in color, it looks like a few cannabis tops have been crushed together, stems, seeds and all, and dried for years. Breaking the bundle open a little, I sniff it… vague scent of dust is all I get. It is so compressed and dried-out I cannot separate out a single stem. It was the least promising cannabis I have ever seen.

The monks manage to convey they would like to sell us some. Their price is so low we buy a couple of the super-desiccated ‘tamales’ just to be good sports. The monks jabber at us and smile through missing teeth, we jabber at them and smile back. Then we part ways.

As they disappear behind us, I almost throw the cornhusk-wrapped junk into a ditch, but looking around at the spectacular high-altitude vistas surrounding us, I decide to hold onto the ‘tamales’ a little longer.

Later that day we decide to try the Buddha Grass, a name I made up on the spot (literally two miles high) for a strain I have never seen listed anywhere, not even on Cannapages. I suspected it might be good for a laugh and probably a lot of coughing, but not much more.

I pry open one of the ‘tamales’ and pull back the husk. I break off a nub and crumble the dusty material between my fingers. I stuff it into our pipe and fire it up. Each of us takes a hit. It is surprisingly smooth but tasteless. I hold the smoke in my lungs for ten seconds and just as I exhale, hallucinations begin swarming my brain. I fall into some sort of waking dream where the most bizarre things occur…

Hours later I return to reality. I look around and discover I am inside a cave cut into a low cliff. My buddy is rolled up against a wall. Hopefully he is still alive. An almost naked man sits on his haunches watching us. Later after my buddy awakens we learn this man found us wandering and incoherent. We are, apparently, in his home.

To this day, that Buddha Grass remains the most hallucinatory, mind-bending cannabis I have ever smoked. We tried without success to find more. Maybe it was the language barrier, or perhaps those monks were the only people on the planet with a stash of that innocent-looking stuff, but for whatever reason, those ‘tamales’ were the only Buddha Grass I ever tasted.

On June 26, 2018, Oklahomans voted overwhelmingly to pass State Question 788. This made the Sooner State the 30th state in the union to legalize a medical cannabis program. This historic event not only laid the groundwork to create the Oklahoma Medical Marijuana Authority but created the framework that allows residents to become licensed to use medical marijuana. Ever since the formation of the medical program in Oklahoma, there has been a surge of interest in medical marijuana

Delta 9 THC Gummies

Patients want to quickly get licensed and get into a legal dispensary to buy everything from flower by the ounce to concentrates & carts, and even Rick Simpson Oil. One of the most common concerns, however, is whether a physical ID card is needed to get into a dispensary.

Since many patients are notified of their approval before the card actually arrives, they are understandably eager to get stocked up on their preferred products. We’re going to dig into just what you’ll need to be able to shop your local dispensary, and how to best take advantage of local offers and discounts.

Can You Go Into A Dispensary Without A Card In Oklahoma?

The short answer is no.

You will need a physical, state-issued medical marijuana card in order to even enter a dispensary. In most cases, once you enter the dispensary you will be required to present your medical card and photo ID to be allowed entry to the main sales floor.

Additionally, the law requires that anyone in possession of marijuana or other cannabis products, for medical purposes, to have a medical card. This means that even if you could get into a dispensary and buy something without a card, you would still be breaking the law by not being licensed to possess the products. This is crucial if you are stopped by law enforcement while transporting your medicine home.

How Can I Get A Medical Card In Oklahoma?

Even though you’ll need a medical card to get into any medical marijuana dispensary in the Sooner State, getting one isn’t complicated, and once you’ve got it you’ll be able to get the medicine and care you need. Here’s a quick rundown on the steps you’ll need to take to get legal.

Qualifying

There are some basic qualifications that you’ll need to meet before you can make an official application, but it’s generally quick and easy. First, you’ll need to be at least 18 years old, and be able to prove your identity. You’ll also need to include current, valid proof of Oklahoma residency, and a full-face color digital picture.

The final qualifier is that your application will also need to include a recommendation from a licensed physician, which is the step that most people dread. However, unlike the medical programs in many other states, Oklahoma has not legislated a specific list of conditions that qualify. There are even telehealth services that allow you to meet with a physician, virtually, to obtain the recommendation needed for your Oklahoma medical card.

Application & Approval

Once you have the required documentation and your physician’s recommendation, you’ll need to submit the application to the Oklahoma Medical Marijuana Authority or OMMA. They are the governing body charged with approving and licensing all activities related to medical cannabis.

I’ve Got My Oklahoma Medical Card - Now What?

Once you’ve got your card in the mail, all that’s left is to shop for your meds. Many patients will visit a dispensary that same day, and probably spend more than they need to on their purchase.

Before you head out, the best thing to do is browse the dispensary’s inventories, look for deals, and place your order. This way you can get the best price on what you want, and it can help avoid impulse buys that may or may not be economical. Below are some of the most popular medical marijuana categories.

Flower

Dried flower is one of the most popular ways to consume medical cannabis. Not only is there a wide variety of strains and effects available, but it is often one of the most cost-effective products. Many dispensaries offer deals for flower by the ounce.

Prerolls

Like flower, but don’t like the hassle of constantly grinding it and rolling your own? Skip the whole process with professional prerolls. Same medicine without the wait, and perfect for portability.

Concentrates

Concentrates, dabs, wax. Call it what you will, but cannabis extracts are one of the hottest ways to consume. You can get a robust dose in just one or two hits while getting a richer terpene profile for the best smell and taste you can imagine.

Carts

For the potency of concentrates with unmatched portability, vape carts are the way to go. Full of delicious terpenes, and some of the highest potency products available.

Edibles

With many conditions, smoking or even vaping can prove too harsh or difficult. For more convenient dosing, edibles like gummies, candy, and even drinks can have you feeling better fast.

Clones & Seeds

Many people prefer to grow their own, putting their own love and care into their medicine. To keep your garden full to its limits, local dispensaries will also have clones and seeds. Find deals on the strains you love, and get your green thumb working.

Things to Know About Medical Marijuana in Oklahoma

The Oklahoma medical marijuana industry is booming, and with a little effort and a license fee, any residents with qualifying conditions and a physician’s recommendation can begin shopping. The state is also ready to ask Oklahomans to vote on State Question 819, which if passed, will create a recreational marijuana market for the Sooner State in just two months.

While many other states have been able to pass recreational legislation on top of previously-approved medical infrastructure, some have failed or have taken much longer to implement. With that in mind, you may want to get your medical card now so that you can avoid delays, as well as take advantage of the ongoing coupons and sales that many dispensaries have.

Garden Spring Cleaning Tips

cannabis production tips

In order to grow strong, healthy plants, you must start with and maintain a clean, pest-free indoor grow area. Any buildup of trash or materials makes for a breeding ground for countless pests and organisms that are not a welcome sight in any grow room. While it is important to start with a clean grow room for best results, it is equally as important to maintain the sanitary nature throughout your grow cycle.

Before any plants are introduced into your grow room, you should perform a thorough cleaning and sanitization of your prospective grow area. While cleaning the area, keep an eye out for any cracks or crevices that may allow access, no matter how small, from the outside world. This access is enough to let in any organisms looking for a breeding ground to call home or a ray of light that could potentially cause your plant or plants to hermaphrodite.

Once all dirt, dust and debris is cleaned up the area should be sterilized. While there are many methods and products out to facilitate the sterilization process, in the grow room we typically use bleach or hydrogen peroxide. While the space is empty, there is plenty of room to move around and access all areas that may not be accessible mid-grow, so bleach the ceilings, the walls and the floors before anything moves in. This will ensure you are starting your grow with a clean slate.

Once you begin filling your room with plants, it is a good idea to maintain a regular cleaning schedule, as infestations are easier to control than they are to contain. Be sure that all dead plant matter is removed immediately, clean up any and all liquid spills, and avoid clutter as any dark corner is a breeding ground for many things. Also, regularly wipe down and/or clean hoods and ballasts, among all other electronics, with compressed air to keep them clean and operating at full capacity. It is also important to regularly check the filter on the air conditioning unit and any filtered equipment you use.

Cleanliness is an ongoing task in a grow room and one of the most important, as failure to maintain your grow room could lead to epic infestations. As long as you develop and maintain a schedule, it will quickly become second nature, and your grow will surely thrive because of it.

Mix and Match Ounce

Posted by CANNASaver on Friday, 13 May 2022 in Canna Blog

Wouldn’t it be great if dispensaries had sampler platters like restaurants? Mix and match ounce deals are much the same idea. You can build your own assorted ounce packets and get great ganja deals!

So, you could buy, say, a quarter of one strain and a half of another. You do this until you’ve built up to an ounce total.

Cannabis stores offer their biggest overall discounts on ounces. Normally it costs more to buy smaller amounts of weed versus the savings on a whole ounce.

By building your own ounce you get savings and some variety.

Why would a provisioning center do this? To encourage you to buy more marijuana.

It’s a weed win-win!

Let’s delve deeper into these dank deals.

Ways to Weigh a Mix and Match Ounce

Experienced cannabis consumers understand how flower is sold. Newbies may not fully understand. Weed weights aren’t overly complicated.

Everything is either grams or portions of an ounce

  • Usually, other than a gram, one of the smallest measurements of marijuana bud is an eighth. That’s 3.5 grams. That’s a few pipe bowls, bong hits, or rolled joints worth of weed.
  • Next is the quarter. Quarters equal 7 grams. If you smoke somewhat steadily, a quarter will probably get you through a weekend. Say, a dozen doobies.
  • A half is 14 grams. That’s roughly a week’s worth of weed unless you’re pretty frugal. Now we’re looking at dozens of bong bowls.
  • An ounce itself is 28 grams. It’s a popular size because for most it’s enough marijuana to last you a good while.
  • And, incidentally, a pound is 16 ounces. That equals 448 grams. That’s a bunch of buds and should keep you toking for a good long time.

With mix and match specials, there are different ways dispensaries break down the weights.

For example, some sellers may run specials to build an ounce in half-ounce increments. Others may allow you to put together eights, quarters, or halves.

There are even specials with discounts on 2 ounces. Those let you select two different ounces for the total purchase.

It is important to read the deal details carefully, so you know what amounts are applicable.

How else can you build your bud bundle?

Mixing and Matching Strains

What’s another way to mix your promo? By considering different strains, of course. It would make no sense to divide up the same strain.

So, what others should you consider?

Strains are divided into indicas, sativas, and hybrids

Indicas

Indicas can be relaxing or sedating. They tend to produce what’s called a body high. They are a high-CBD variety.

Nighttime is the right time for smoking this weed. It works well before bed to promote sleepiness. The term couch-locked is applicable for a strong indica. It means that you’re so relaxed you don’t want to get off the couch.

They are also used to reduce anxiety.

Sativas

Sativas are stimulating. The buzz is more in the brain, euphoric. They are a high-THC weed strain.

This kind of cannabis aids concentration. It is also great at combatting depression.

Say you wanted some energy for cleaning the house. Smoking sativa would be the way to go. Its energizing effects make it an ideal daytime strain.

Hybrids

Hybrids are a mix of both indicas and sativas. Some are 50/50, but many are some other combination of high-CBD and high-THC ganja. There are indica-leaning hybrids and there are those that are more sativa-heavy.

Any weed name with ‘haze’ in it is a sativa or sativa-dominant hybrid. If it’s a ‘kush’, then it tends to be an indica or a hybrid that leans that way.

Building your flower collection, you can often mix and match strains. They are all going to be sativas, indicas, or hybrids.

There are a gazillion variants of ganja. Research, and asking your local budtender, are good ways to find out which strains are what kind of weed.

New strains are appearing all the time. Growers often crossbreed strains to produce new subspecies.

Often, the dispensary will have a list of different strains you can choose from. You then use these to build your budget bundle.

Knowing what each kind is will help you pick the ones you want or need. Never be afraid to ask questions, so you know what you’re getting.

Now, how can you find places that are offering specials?

How to Find Great Mix and Match Ounce Deals

Cannasaver is a great site to find discounted cannabis goodies. If you want to find combination ounce specials near you, there are several ways to do so.

You can type ‘mix and match’ in the upper lefthand search bar. Just below that is a map icon that you can click to narrow results down to your location. If there are deals in your city, this will help you find them.

Another way to find these deals is by using the dropdown menu next to the topmost search box. This menu offers ‘Deals Near Me’ and ‘Ounce Deals’ as options. Either of these selections could get you to listings of weed store savings on bud bundles.

What kind of discount you are looking for? Searching Cannasaver pages will help you find what’s out there.

Now you have some things to think about. Putting together a bud bundle on a budget can be done. Provisioning center promotional rules may dictate how discount weed is divided up. But if you have flexibility, you have some idea of ways to put it all together.

Ounces are divided up by eighths, quarters, halves, and wholes. Sometimes promotions are for multiple ounces. Other times, you’re dividing up a single ounce. Read offers carefully, so you know what your options are.

If you want some variety in your stash, these deals are ideal! You can sometimes choose between indicas, sativas, or hybrids. Again, your local retailer may give you a list of strains to choose from. Know your cannabis and choose the variants that you want.

live resin swabber

Samuel Hillis is not new to Resin. The 87-year-old Cannatown resident was born in Resinville during some of the village’s most difficult years, the dust bowl. “They called it that because there was literally nothin’ but dust in our bowls,” he recalls. “That year people said whatever resin you smaked, was resin first scraped 20 bowls ago, scraped and smaked, scraped and smaked again and again.” He grew up in a household with scant belongings or experiences. It wasn’t until he was 25 that he smaked his first combination resin-and-stem blunt. “I remember thinking, what is this other stuff? You mean there’s more than live resin?” But kind bud was an exotic myth in those days. And they didn’t have all the nice waxes and butters -- only a gelatinous extract called lard. Some people talked about flower but you never really thought of it as real. Like Turkish delight. And polar bears.”

One day Hillis says he recalls seeing a photo from his friend’s vacation. There, in his friend’s hand, was a giant, sparkling nugget. It was almost technicolor. “I only recall my heart dropping. It was surreal.”

Stories in Resinville spread, and soon there was talk of a revolution, a renaissance and push to find flower. Some of Hillis’ friends, local revolutionaries were fortunate enough to experiment and gradually change what they smaked. They began by adding “cracklers” (seeds), then stems, eventually leaves and finally nuggets into their resin bowls and rolls, and over time, gradually omitting the resin until their smake was “pure kind.”

This led to the great Resinville purge of 1969, when all flower-smakers were exiled out of village limits, following the most widespread riots in town history. Hillis was wrongly accused of smaking flower, and even though he had long desired in his heart to do so, he’d never really gotten a chance to try.

By time he and the revolutionaries made it to Cannatown, they were eager to smake and start a new life. But they found survival in Cannatown wasn’t so easy, either. So many of them did the only thing they knew how to do: they became bowl-swabbers. Every day they would scrape and clean the insides of bowls, for personal and corporate accounts. Every day, they toiled, bent over their work tables doing green-collar work, so that future generations could enjoy a better life.

Flash forward forty years, and Hillis was finally retiring at the age of 79. He had still never packed flower, forced by his own pride for decades to smake only the resin he scraped, an ailment that left him with a dirty, yellow-toothed grin, and the unwashable stink of bong tar. His associates at Goopenheim’s wanted him to smake flower at the retirement party. They readied a large group bong, but the local grinderage got the order wrong and accidentally delivered and packed brown shwag.

It was a mess. The party lasted just minutes. Traumatically, the experience got even worse when Hillis recklessly sprinted into an eight-foot rack of metal chairs and began fist-fighting them.

But everything changed last Tuesday on the eve of Hillis’ birthday, when he received a knock on the door at 4:20 in the afternoon. There, on the doorstep, was a present and a note. Inspired by his generous service scraping and cleaning their bowls during his retirement, his neighbors together pitched in to buy him a giant Scooby Snacks nugget. Hillis said he was so moved, that he called everyone over to smake it with him; everyone brought their own nuggetry and those that partook said they’d never seen an old man so heartwarmingly happy to finally smake kind bud. “This is what it’s all about,” said Jan Newton, who lives just down the street. “Nothing, nothing, feels better than smaking dank with a person in need. And being there for the first time, that’s just special.”

Those close to Hillis say the change has been drastic. Long gone are the resin repositories nailed to walls throughout his house, and glass cabinet of scrapers. He recently rented a cabin to watch Dark Side of the Rainbow and enjoys a new hobby, staring at black light posters, for up to “four to six hours per day.” It’s clear he’s been given another lease on life. “For so long people have been telling me to just try some flower,” he remarked last Sunday as he packed for a river rafting trip. “Years ago I would’ve packed resin, but you can see it’s only flower now, ‘til death do us part.”

It felt like finding secret treasure. “I was like, if we’re doing it, why aren’t other people doing it?” asks Shawna Monson, a home buyer who recently purchased a house amidst a whirlwind of mortgage madness. There’s just one catch. Monson’s “secret” trick was a strategy now being employed in metros across the country: She went in on the house with roughly 53 other co-residents.

“I’d been outbid over 100 times, and thought about living in an RV,” she says. “That’s when I decided to throw my lot in with dozens of people I’d met at the DMV.”

During a historical housing crunch, exacerbated by generational shifts, and supply chains and employee shortages, prices are shooting higher (420%) than ever before. Altogether it has put the possibility of owning a home completely out of reach, while almost completely limiting mobility. Experts suggest the only solution is to join finances with no less than 37 other buyers.

In the hottest real estate markets, bidders now routinely offer around one-million dollars over asking, with nearly everything, including a left testicle, due with offers, which average 1000 in count per listing. “It was under these circumstances that we decided to lock in a 4.20% rate for buyer-groups,” says loan officer Dana Sacia of Wells Fargo, a lender well-known for its brutally-violent onboarding process. “Disclosures include enslavement of the undersigned’s unborn children. It’s not a great deal, but it’s still better than most conventional programs.”

“The loan works with anyone from 25 to 60 people; the more, the better,” Sacia says.

Although not luxurious by any standards, the resulting living conditions are completely non-luxurious. “We make it work,” Monson claims, now sleeping in the foyer on her mattress near some communal plastic furniture. “We’ve had very few issues, other than the septic disaster.”

There are so many people in the current house, that those who congregate in front haven’t even intermingled with those living in the back of the house (the “backers”). Originally a 2-bed 1-bath bungalow, most closets in the house are now bedrooms. The residents reportedly sleep in shifts. “We’re makin’ it work, we’re totally succeeding,” Monson says, clutching a slow-burning blunt in shaking hands, “I just wish we knew who keeps taking the toothbrushes.”

“Now we just all use each others’ toothbrushes,” she adds, “It’s pretty gnar.”

Slowly but surely, pot prohibition is ending state by state. Usually, states start with okaying marijuana use for medical reasons. In June of 2018, that’s precisely what Oklahoma did.

That made it the 30th US state to allow medical weed use. In the first year, 7300 cannabis-related companies were licensed. Over 5% of Oklahoma residents are currently certified for prescribed pot.

As of yet, however, the government has not opened up the state for recreational use. However, the legislature did decriminalize possession for non-medical use. There’s still a fine, but no jail time for small amounts.

Let’s take a look at specific laws about Oklahoma medical marijuana. You should know particulars about licensing and possession.

Visitors to the state can get temporary permits. We’ll discuss that in more depth.

Then we’ll talk about the possibility of the state legalizing recreational in the future.

Lastly, we’ll show how you can save on Oklahoman prescribed pot.

Let’s start by detailing what the law allows.

oklahoma medical marijuana laws

What is OK in the Oklahoma Medical Use Law?

There’s something very significant about Oklahoma’s requirements for cannabis-consuming patients. That is that there are no qualifying conditions. All that is necessary is a doctor’s recommendation.

That’s unusual compared to other places with legalized medical marijuana. Other states, like Illinois for example, have a list of provisos for prescribing weed. Not so in Oklahoma.

So, what does the law stipulate?

The medical recommendation from a doctor must include written documentation.

There is a requirement that patients have to be at least 18 years old. Those younger than that need no less than two doctors to write recommendations. Underage applicants also must have the support of their parents or a guardian.

Only parents or guardians can pick the pot up from dispensaries for younger users.

Applications for all aspiring users are approved or denied within 14 days.

Cultivation of plants by and for patients is allowed. Though, like any other state that has legalized growing, there are limitations.

Caregivers can also be qualified to provide services. This benefits license holders who may be homebound.

Those applying to operate bud businesses must be at least 25 years old. They must also be state residents. All operations must be 75% owned by Oklahomans.

The fee for business licensing is $2500. It is non-refundable if the application fails.

Licenses, regulations, and administration fall to OMMA. That’s the Oklahoma Medical Marijuana Authority. They oversee rules and procedures for patients and caregivers. Further, dispensaries, growers, processors, and physicians fall under their jurisdiction.

The agency maintains a state website. There, patients and providers can apply for licenses. There are also links to streamline the process for personal and business applicants. And they give answers to frequently asked questions.

All medical cards are also registered with OBNDDC. That's the Oklahoma Bureau of Narcotics and Dangerous Drugs Control.

The cost of each application is $100. For patients with Medicaid or Medicare, the cost is only $20. All approved medical cards are good for two years.

medical marijuana in oklahoma

What About Out-of-State Weed Patients?

Medical-use patients with a card from another state can apply for a temporary patient license. That waiver is good for 30 days. The cost for a temporary permit is $100, the same as a residential certification.

With a temp license, visitors can shop at any certified dispensary within the state. They can also possess and grow ganja. But only for 30 days from the issuing of their permit.

In 2021, a move was made to amend the rules for visitors. The Oklahoma House of Representatives did pass a bill expanding temporary licenses to 2 years. But that did not pass in the senate, thus the temp license remains at 30 days.

Tourists cannot bring their own stash of weed into Oklahoma. Marijuana is still federally illegal and so transporting any across state lines is a crime. Out-of-state medical users must buy within the state.

How Much Medical Marijuana Can You Buy at a Time?

Approved state license holders can possess up to eight ounces of marijuana flower in their homes. At any one time, patients are allowed three ounces of weed on their person.

For concentrates the limit is one ounce.

Edible products cannot exceed 72 ounces.

Those cultivating cannabis can own no more than six mature marijuana plants. Additionally, they may have up to six non-flowering seedling plants. So, that’s a combination of 12 plants altogether.

Out-of-staters with a temporary med card have the same purchasing and possession limits.

The state decriminalized possession, but that doesn’t mean there’s nothing to worry about. If you’re unlicensed and are holding cannabis, there is some concern.

Those who don’t have a med license face a minimum $400 fine if found in possession of pot. That’s if they have no more than 1 and a half ounces of cannabis. More than that and the fine steepens, plus there’s the likelihood of jail time.

For businesses, there are limits to sales to individuals. Provisioning centers are prohibited from selling over three ounces of cannabis flower. Restrictions specify no more than one ounce of marijuana concentrate dispensed at one time. There is a cap of 72 total ounces of medical marijuana products.

Is Recreational Next for Oklahoma?

As of early 2022, there are two petitions to put recreational pot use on the ballot. If passed, the initiative seeks to also have convictions for possession reversed. It also would expunge criminal records.

Also proposed is a 15% excise tax on potential sales. Currently, there is a 7% tax on all medical marijuana sales - plus state sales tax.

Time will tell if Oklahoma voters go the way of other states and add a recreational weed option.

Decarbing Wax

Posted by CANNASaver on Monday, 25 April 2022 in Canna Blog

When it comes to cannabis cooking, most people likely think of using cannabis flower. Typically, you grind it up and "decarb" it in the oven. From there you can add it to food directly or make cannabutter.

But the same can be done with wax concentrates. You may have some extra laying around, not being dabbed. Before it gets old and loses potency, you can repurpose your wax.

With activated concentrates, you can make some powerful pot brownies or weed cookies.

But you may have questions about decarboxylation.

What is decarbing? We'll explain the process below.

Does your dab wax necessarily need decarbing? Usually, but not necessarily.

How do you decarb dab concentrates? It’s not hard, as we’ll show below.

And, before we go, you’ll see how you can save on concentrates for dabbing or decarbing.

What Is Weed Decarbing?

Raw weed and wax concentrates need to be activated. When smoking or dabbing, that is done with high heat. Either fire is put to ground leaf or a dab nail is heated for wax.

The purpose behind this is to chemically change the THCA in cannabis to THC. THCA is the chemical in pot plants. THC is the molecule that reacts with your body’s endocannabinoid system.

THC is what gets you high.

Eating raw weed or wax won’t really do anything for you. But when you heat that marijuana material, then it becomes psychoactive. Then you get the buzz and the benefits.

This works for all the cannabinoids in hemp or marijuana. CBD also has to be activated to be effective. Terpenes in plant material boost the effects of cannabis. They also benefit from heating.

All the best benefits from cannabis come from a chemical reaction that begins with heat.

Does Cannabis Wax Need to Be Decarbed?

Now, all this doesn’t mean that every weed product needs decarbing. Usually, it does, but some marijuana and hemp consumables come already decarbed. Some of them are manufactured that way.

Edibles are obviously made for eating and thus must be made with decarbed cannabis. Tinctures and isolates are also pre-activated for immediate use. Topicals also have usable cannabinoids as part of their ingredients.

Obviously, not everything can be used in making ganja goodies. But some products come decarbed for immediate oral or topical use.

Which ones are already active? Let’s see.

Waxes That Are Already Active

FECO, RSO, distillate, and CO2 oil all are already decarbed. That’s because they are cooked on high heat during their creation.

What are they?

FECO is full extract cannabis oil. It is similar to RSO. However, it uses grain alcohol or ethanol for extractions. Whereas RSO uses isopropyl rubbing alcohol.

Just like RSO, it is generally sold in syringes for dispensing sublingually. That means you put it in your mouth, under your tongue. Being activated, it absorbs through your mouth lining directly into your bloodstream.

RSO is more widely known. RSO is Rick Simpson Oil. This cannabis concentrate was devised by an engineer who used it to treat his own cancer. It too comes in a syringe for direct oral use.

Distillate is a liquid concentrate that is pure cannabinoid. There are both THC and CBD distillates.

Similarly, CO2 oil is a pure cannabinoid concentrate. It uses carbon dioxide in the extraction process.

Each of these can be taken orally. And they can all be added to foods directly and be effective.

Now, what about the waxes that do need to be thoroughly heated before using by mouth or in consumables?

Waxes That Require Decarbing

If the above waxes are the ones that can be used immediately in cooking or by eating, what waxes need decarbing? In short, all the other concentrates.

Which ones are they?

Shatter, wax, and budder all need to be activated before use. So do crumble, hash, rosin, and live resin.

Why? Because they are all made without much heating.

Shatter is a hard, glassy wax. It is made by soaking plants in butane and allowing the solvent to evaporate. Low heat sometimes is used to speed up evaporation. Regular wax is softer because of mixing in air during processing.

Budder gets whipped longer than wax but is made similarly.

Crumble is dryer than budder.

Rosin and hash are solvent-less concentrates. Both are made primarily by using pressure.

And live resin is unique in that it is made from raw versus processed plant material.

All of the above may use some heating in processing, but not enough for decarboxylation.

So, how are they decarbed for eating or cooking?

How To Decarb Wax

There are two ways to activate weed waxes for edible use. One uses an ordinary cookie sheet. The other way is to employ a water bath.

For the cookie sheet method, preheat your oven to 250 degrees F. Use a non-stick pan so you can easily remove your decarbed material.

  • Place the solid concentrate in the center and put the sheet pan in the oven for 45 minutes. The concentrate should be bubbling when removed from the oven.
  • Let it sit and cool for a while. Now it can be eaten, used to make cannabutter, or put directly into food.

The water bath method is just as easy.

  • You just put a Pyrex dish inside a pan of boiling water for 30 minutes.
  • Use a kitchen thermometer to make sure the temperature is at 250⁰ F.
  • Again cool, and then use as desired.

Some Final Thoughts on Decarbing Wax

Keep in mind when cooking with concentrates that they may have a strong plant taste and smell. You’ll want to try them with different foods to see how they may change the flavor.

Sweeter foods can somewhat disguise the weed flavor. That is why hash brownies and weed cookies are so popular.

Now you just need some wax concentrates to decarb. If you don’t have any lying around then you’ll have to buy some.
