We are plant biologists, scientists, and cannabis connoisseurs. We’re good people who are invested in the Oregon cannabis community. Our team is enthusiastic, motivated, and our most valuable resources are experience and hard-earned knowledge. Our founder, Rob Alba, has spent more than 30 years working in plant biochemistry and holds a Ph.D. in Botany—a plant scientist to the core. Rob has published more than 30 peer-reviewed research papers focused on plant biochemistry, crop yield, and flowering time. He previously served as Head of Agricultural Sciences at Bowery Farming, and as Director for multi-million-dollar crop research projects at the Danforth Plant Science Center and the Boyce Thompson Institute for Plant Research. In 2018, Rob moved with his family to Portland to be closer to extended family and established Firefly Extracts, where he serves as lead scientist.
